This video was no help at all but I downloaded and read the instructions re KVM. First, plug your keyboard and mouse into the USB-A ports. You can have 4 video inputs, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DP, and USB-C. But, you can only switch your Keyboard and Mouse between two devices. By default when you select USB-C as your video source the Keyboard and Mouse will be sent down that USB-C connection. And when you choose HDMI 1 source, the keyboard and mouse will be sent out the USB-B port. So run a cable from the USB-B port to your HDMI 1 source. Note: In the display settings, you can choose if it's actually HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 or DP that has your second device that will need the Keyboard and Mouse. Hope that helps someone.
@DouglasABailey2 жыл бұрын
@Debasish Dutta I can only answer part. There are two USB-A ports to plug in a keyboard and mouse. There is one USB-B port for the mouse/keyboard data to go out to a computer. There is one USB-C port to connect to a computer to send keyboard/mouse and receive video. I don't know if the keyboard/mouse data would be sent to a tablet plugged into the USB-C.

Completely agree with you, friend. If you want to test if the monitor's KVM works ... this video doesn't help you at all. Thanks for your input. Thank you for your information. One question: Regarding your text, that means I need 4 Cables? Example in my situation: Work Laptop: USB + HDMI Private PC: USB + DP Connect all to the monitor and corresponding device. Choose first device as my PC (DP) and second the laptop (HDMI1), to both the USB-A cables from the monitor and nothing more? In my opinion that is not very good, because the best would be when I can connect my laptop with the USB-C, less cables but that is not possible If I understood it right. Thank you.
@DouglasABailey2 жыл бұрын
@@OverLord-OvLd I have double checked images of the ports and I can be more clear: You can switch the Keyboard and Mouse between two different devices but one of those must be connected via USB-C. We know this because there is only one other port on the monitor which can send the Keyboard and Mouse data to a other device. (Your HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 or DP device.) I don't believe this in-built KVM switch can help you if one of your devices can't take USB-C.

Charge through USB-C?
@ramoncardenas84333 жыл бұрын
Just got the monitor and its pretty great. I have a question about the KVM. Is it only possible to connect the second device via usb c on the monitor? I have a macbook pro on my first system and my second system will be my gaming rig thats on the way. The gaming pc would be connected via display port, and I wanted to connect the macbook pro via usb c to hdmi to take advantage of the 144hz refresh. When I connect with the usb c to hdmi on the m27q the mouse and keyboard wont work, but it works just fine using the usb c to usb type c. Not a huge deal breaker if this is not possible, but it is kind of a bummer as the usb type c from the macbook to the m27q caps at 60hz.

Did you ever resolve this? I'm in the same position. USB C is capped to 30hz for my 2020 Macbook Pro, so not worth it. I do USB C to Mini Displayport. And my Gaming machine is HDMI 2.1
@sk1ppman2 жыл бұрын
@@flashattack You have to connect it via USB C or there is no USB connection between your keyboard/mouse and the computer. The USB 3.0 connection from the monitor goes to whichever computer is using the DisplayPort/HDMI. You need a USB path to the other computer, hence the USB C. Now I don't know if you can assign one of the other display inputs to the USB C interface in the menu, which would let you use HDMI at 100hz and the KVM functionality but I expect it might.

@@sk1ppman Does this mean that the ‘USB connection’ to what I understand is considered the main computer from the monitor’s point of view is carried over DisplayPort? Trying to wrap my head around how this ‘KVM’ works as. My setup is probably going to be: Dual USB-C from my MacBook Pro to each monitor. Dual DisplayPort from my gaming PC to each monitor. Then hopefully my second monitor can function as a USB hub, while the Gigabyte one can function as a KVM.

Okay. Now u can play Pascals Wager in the big screen =) idk. This can be useful only in certain scenarios because you can simply install emulators on your PC

It is horrible, when you hit the button to switch, you need to hit on the keyboard and other buttons to give a signal so the monitor is actually switching. sometimes you have to click that, or that, or that multiple times to work. So basically, it doesnt receive a signal right away, but when you press something so this monitor SHOULD get a signal, it sometimes does and sometimes doesn‘t. I don‘t like it and it costs a lot of nerves whenever I wan‘t to switch between macos and windows.

Hello, I am interesten in the Gigabyte m27q model. Could you confirm whether this monitor supports 4k input from a PS5 console? The reason I ask is that the PS5 does not output 1440p. The monitors from MSI have a console mode where it accepts a 4k signal and scales down to 1440p. Thus the image looks sharper than 1080p video signal scaled to 1440p.

Gigabyte SUPER Smooth. Much better than Asus, LG & .Dell...., the worst monitor we seen is MSI monitor like putting a clear plastic bag in front of your screen. MSI style.

Right OK, but this video is about as illuminating as the manual, IE not very illuminating at all. How does it actually work? Is it some kind of intelligence test, or did the engineers not translate the instructions from Chinese to English, so no one at Gigabyte actually know what to do with this feature either?

can i connect this monitor to my pc and touchscreen surface laptop, and then use the touchscreen surface laptop as a secondary touchscreen monitor to my PC I doubt it because on its own, the surface’s usb-c only allows it to be an external signal (not as an internal touchscreen display sourced from something else)

The BGR panel on M27Q is kinda concerning for me as I'm a developer who wants to do gaming on the side. I have seen many reports that the BGR arrangement has led to blurry text, which is not really ideal for coding, particularly on Mac (Based on user reviews).
@ethanlopez1093 жыл бұрын
I have the M27Q, using it right now, and I code. I don't see blurry text, the 1440p resolution is miles ahead to 1080p and the 170Hz are incredible. No problem with text.

@@ethanlopez109 mm interesting and If you are using mac...can you confirm if 170hz is working?...What you suggest 1440p/170hz or 4k 60hz (Benq PD2700U or LG 27UL850)....

I recommend this monitor for the price bracket for a mac. It can and will run 1440p/170hz (at least on an m1/m2 mac, may be shown as 169hz) over usb-c. The HDMI port will be limited to 144hz unless you have the pro m2 chip, the hdmi port is 2.0, not 2.1. There are also usbc/tb3 to DP adapters that can work (personally never tested), but for this monitor I recommend buying the $30 Thunderbolt 3 / USBC cable with a mac. It is a BGR display, however rotating it 180 degrees can be done with the included stand and in display options, making it effectively RGB. Windows has text settings for rgb/bgr that have come a long way, but can fall short. Mac OS seems to handle BGR text rendering better out of the box. In the past this has "broken" g-sync for users, however it works fine for me as of an Nvidia update earlier this year. In my opinion you can't beat this monitor for the price if you plan on using the KVM, especially if you have a Mac and PC. The only downside i see is pixelation of curved red edges on MacOS. Though this occurs on many monitors that are not directly from Apple, and I am unaware if this is an issue on the others you mentioned.
