@atexnik2 жыл бұрын
It's not the only monitor with KVM, there are better KVM implementations. The best KVM I've seen was on Benq monitors. They give you ability to switch only the USB upstreams, even if you have only one video input used. This is super useful when you have two PCs each with its dedicated monitor, but you want to keep just one set of KB/Mouse. Other brands only give you option to switch the USB upstream only by changing the video input. Benq has decoupled this, so you have both options readily available. Dell offers something similar, but you have to dig deep into the menu to remap the video input to USB upstream just to be able to switch between USB without changing the active video input.
@atexnik2 жыл бұрын
@@guilhermesouzasanchez4773 yeah, that's why I opted for Benq PD2705Q, which is a great monitor with best KVM out there (a selling factor for me), but unfortunately it doesn't have high freq panel.
@MacRobeson2 жыл бұрын
I know this is a bit old, but you actually can use the USB-C KVM with any of the inputs. You just use the OSD to pair the USB-C with HDMI 1 for example, then connect the USB-C to a PC with a standard USB-C to USB-A cable. This means you could use two desktop PCs one with HDMI and one with Display port for example and still have KVM functionality.

Thank you for covering how the KVM work! it got me curious and I had to do some extra research. :) - Both USB-C- and the USB-B can be assigned as uplinks to any of the HDMI, DP inputs (or in case of USB-C it can be asigned as video input and uplink at the same time). - USB-C delivers 2A @5V (~10W), with other words, no "Power Delivery" which is such a missed opportunity as it won't be enough to feed your laptop (or in my case the Steam Deck) with enough power. With other words, the monitor will charge your device, but very slowly and is really only adapted for phones and tablets. If you are doing intensive tasks the battery will drain. while at normal passive desktop use it will charge extremely slowly.

For me, it was really close deciding between the Mag274qrf-QD and this one. Ended up buying both to test them out, knowing I’d return one and keep the other. Here’s my thoughts: Ultimately I chose this one because the uniformity was MUCH better, contrast ratio was a bit better, and (yes this is a nitpick) I really disliked the MSI monitor’s bottom bezel. It felt much chunkier and noticeable because of its funky design, so that’s something that drove me crazy. Gaming performance was very similar, with the Gigabyte monitor edging just ahead because of the things I said above about contrast ratio and uniformity. Color accuracy felt similar, and to be honest I’m not entirely looking for those things like some of the big techtubers on here. They both were great to the eye. The IPS glow was a tiny bit more noticeable on the Gigabyte, but extremely manageable with some tweaks. Speaking of tweaks, you have an entire suite of options to use here on the Gigabyte monitor, whereas on the MSI, you do not. I can’t tell you how amazingly easy it is to navigate the menus here and personalize this monitor to your eye’s desire. I ran out of things to say, but overall the Gigabyte monitor definitely wins the battle here between itself and the MSI Mag274qrf-qd. They’re both really good monitors, but honestly to me the dealbreaker was the chunky bezel on the MSI versus the smaller and less pronounced one on the Gigabyte M27Q. Oh and of course- THE PRICE!! $419.99 for the MSI versus $309.99 for Gigabyte

only thing ive noticed with my monitor is that the contrasts are a bit on the warmer side compared to my TN panel but it does blacks and whites extremely well for an IPS panel like the blacks are BLACK when they need to be and the whites are WHITE when they have to be, other than that i have no complaints at all 27" 1440p for those immersive moments, 170Hz 0,5msrp that you can tell is not on the data sheet for fun and games, not a million buttons on the monitor and an easily comprehensive UI for the monitor settings

Just got one of these and really like it. doesnt look like some gamer toy, even the packaging has no gamor stuff on it, its heavy and sturdy build and most important the picture looks great. Amazing review got this moniter cheap and amazing good graphics obviously not four k but 1440p is amazing and especially with the 170 hertz is amazing if your looking for a moniter that’s cheap this is the one that’s great and if your scared of response time it is 0.5 so it will give you that advantage

Honestly, I use the OSD joystick because I don't want to connect a cable just to use a piece of software.

Why did you complain about "not having two USB-B uplinks"??? IT DOES HAVE TWO! The USB-C can serve as the uplink for any of the display types (USB-C, DisplayPort, HDMI1, HDMI2). You can have two full gaming PCs plugged into this (not just PC + mac/mobile that have usb-c display out)... One system can use DisplayPort, one using HDMI, and either of them can use the USB B or C uplinks whichever fits them best. You can also use super cheap simple USB Y-splitters to expand the 2 USB A inputs to at least 4, maybe even 6 or more ports, plus things like USB hubs if u want SD cards and such.

Well it doesn't and your comment reitterates my point. Don't justify it.

@@GearSeekers Why do you think the switch UI shows USB-B and Type-C and then lets you select the display input for BOTH of them? If the Type-C didn't work as an independent uplink, then it wouldn't be possible to change the video input for the USB C side of the kvm, it would have to be locked as it would only be for a single-cable device, but it isn't locked.. LITERALLY THE ONLY PURPOSE of USB-B connector was that PRIOR to USB-C, USB cables had directional power delivery, so the different connector (B and Micro B, and hardwired peripherals of all sorts) made power delivery directional, so the connectors HAD to be dummy proof to prevent issues. USB-C's power delivery is now negotiated by the devices, which is why C to C cables are now standard, yet in the past B to B and A to A cables essentially never existed. These have TWO full, independent uplinks, you just don't like the appearance of the C connector for some reason even though it does everything the B connector does and far more. In the video, it would have made sense for you to say "I wish it had another usb-B OR C connector for a THIRD uplink so that it could support 2 PCs and a laptop/tablet/phone for 3 devices simultaneously", that would have been a valid complaint and something they can upgrade for successors of these KVM units... But that's not what you said, you complained about not being able to use your TWO desktops, and that it couldn't support that thus it's useless for you... But that's simply not true, you can use these KVMs for two desktops even if neither have USB-C display outs.

Are you going to make a video on KVM? I'm wondering how I can connect my laptop to this monitor directly. eg: I have a gaming CPU which I want to connect to this monitor, but occasionally I would also like to connect my laptop to this monitor to do my office work.

He explained it in the video; one computer connects via the USB B (the square one) port + DP or HDMI, the other computer (e.g. a laptop) connects via USB C which does the video & peripherals passthrough. This should be ideal for the use case of switching between a gaming PC & a work laptop. Assuming you only have this one monitor.

Could you do a review of the MSI Optix MAG274QRF (non QD) version. It's like $70 cheaper in the US and has a narrower color gamut. Keep up the great content man!

How is the QC on these? I really like the look of MSI Optix 1440p 165hz but heard bad things about dead pixels on them. I have a Lenovo 1440p 165hz and it has a red stuck pixel in the middle of the screen.
