One of the best motherboard reviews I've ever seen. Your explanation of PCIe lanes was extremely easy to follow. I'm probably buying this board and your review is pushing me over the edge. Great write-up!

Right at 14:08 I was able to pause it and zoom in on the 3x M2 heatsink single screw location. The extra board I was given someone superglued the stand-off onto it and it broke off. There is some damage around that underside header but it looks like it might just have missed the traces. Looks like it's the middle M2 drive out of the 3 so maybe if damaged it will only be on that slot. No biggy I can always add a 4th to the PCIe 4.0 4x slot if needed. Thanks for the 4k footage! A open box 7700X $265 & Gskill Trident Z5 Neo RGB ram is showing up tomorrow. Going to test out the board and hopefully it works fine. Won't be able to use the 3x M2 heatsink but no biggy my M2 drives are for game loading and not heavy transfer usage.

@aaronbrlas72952 жыл бұрын
Yep, and it's still running fine up to Windows 10. I don't game, it's mostly used as a workstation and Plex server. I'll occasionally make videos from my GoPro (which takes forever). Where I think I'd see the biggest performance improvement with the new hardware is with Plex. This build is overkill for what Plex actually needs, but remember this PC is also used to occasionally make GoPro videos and as a workstation doing typical web browsing and MS Office tasks. Currently I sometimes have buffering/transcoding delays withPlex. As far as the processor is concerned, it is said that a CPU can easily transcode one high quality movie for every 2,000 benchmark score. With my old CPU having a benchmark of roughly 3,300 and this new one coming being 28,500 I think I'll be very happy with the performance. I'm not a computer expert by any means so if anyone has any tips or guidance for me it'll be much appreciated. I have about 8 terabytes worth of movies on my PC that I'm scared of losing so I am going to use two 18 terabyte HDD in RAID 1 to help ease my mind. I have a 250GB SSD for the operating system and another 250GB SSD where I'll install the Plex server program, and will use 32Gb of RAM. I also happen to have a 2 terabyte HDD that I use to store my GoPro and other miscellaneous files that don't belong on the Plex server. I know RAID isn't a backup solution, but for me it's better than nothing. I do plan to back up my non-Plex data regularly and maybe one day I'll get enough external storage to backup my Plex movie files as well.

Own three of these now. Paid total for all 3 $286 so for $95 avg each that can’t be beat. They all were open box though. This is simply the best value board for the dollar minus pcie 16x 5.0 support. Comes with 4 full speed m2 slots and the 2nd 16x slot can also run full speed at 4x. So easily with a cheap adapter you can run 5 gen4 NVMe drives on this. I originally ordered the b650 elite ax but the x670 was $20 more so I would much more prefer more connectivity options for down the road. A little stronger vrm and 1 extra usb. The extra full speed options is what makes the x670 more valuable to me.

Yes. I have the 78x3d paired with 6400mhz rams. I've watched another guy's overview saying that the max capacity of speed for the ram slots is 6400. Xmp was doing over 6400. My pc restarted on it's own and dram lights would light up. Happened for 1 month and a half straight. I almost gave up. I cmos the motherboard and didnt overclock the rams and left it at default. Been running normal since.

Somewhat overpriced but decent motherboard for the 7000x series. No PCI 5 gen slot for gpus but we're barely taking full advantage of pcie 3 gen so it doesn't really matter. No display port for integrated graphics, just 3 audio jacks, 1 HDMI 2.0 port, 4 m. 2 slots (only 1 gen 5). 16vcore phases is also pretty good. The best motherboard for you will be the one that suits your needs & checks out in terms of reliability.

In the end I pretty much liked this motherboard. Like Han Solo says, it's got it where it counts. Not everything is perfect, though. Where it's very weak,however, is in audio out jacks, and SATA 3.0 jacks. It has only 3 audio out jacks, not 5, and no SPDIF out. If there is a way to get it to do 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound, I have not figured it out. Jack sense don't seem to work. It has only 4 SATA jacks, not 6, and they are in a terrible place right under the monster GPU you installed. Be sure to plug in ALL your SATA cables cables before you install your GPU. I bent the USB-C pin on the right F_USB320G motherboard header cable and port, which is the worst connector imaginable. FOrtunately there was a second one at the bottom I could plug into. But my pin is still bent, so the USB-C don't work on it. This is onboard USB32 combo motherboard connector absolutely the worst connector the industry has ever made. The motherboard manual was acutally pretty good. It is very sad there were not WIndows 7 drivers for the motherboard. Upgrading the UEFI BIOS at first gave me fits, until I realized I could not install mismatched pairs of DIMMs.

Hey. Are you sure that the CPU power stages are only 70A each? I ask because the Master's are 105A, so the drop seems massive.
@StevesHardware2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that Infineon part is very high-end and GIGABYTE clearly states it has 70A powerstages for the CPU, 60 for the SOC, and 90 for the MISC. It's on the product overview page. I will say that before vendors found out people actually would pay extra for like 100A powestages, things were a lot more tame. The VRM powerstages here are very high-end, and possibly the most expensive part on the PCB other than the chipset. Don't let 70A get you down, those are top quality power stages. I could go into how datasheet information isn't the only thing that matters, but thats a deep rabbit hole lol

So what is this board used for? Clearly not gaming, since the VRMs and mosfets are total overkill and even super budget boards can easily handle gaming regardless the CPU..I read audioengineering is buggy in AMD too and most editing programs are optimized for Intel. Im guessing as some niche AMD based full time video editing build then (extra m.2 ssd slots)? Or for overclocking a 7900x or something? Dont know if the x3D ones are made for decent overclocking. Just curious..
