Kobe said the first time he guarded Jordan out on the perimeter, Jordan basically swatted him away like he was fly, and went baseline for the dunk. Kobe said he knew the spin move was coming, but he could do nothing to stop it. Because the timing on TV was very different than witnessing it first hand. So Kobe basically admitted that Jordan was too fast and strong for him at that age. Kobe would have been 18 then and Jordan would have been about 33.

Only similarities between Jordan and Kobe is: 1) They both coached by Phil Jackson 2) They about the same height/weight 3) Their fade away shot 4) Their first step jabs and pull up jumper 5) How they drive to the lane Outside of the above their game were different. Jordan more fundamentally sound Jordan took better shots (Kobe used to shoot fade away 3 pointers and force shots over triple team) Jordan AVERAGED 50% FG for career...Kobe NEVER had a season shooting 50% FG - Kobe is All Time Leader in Missed Shots Much of Jordan game was coming off of screens, post up, give and go/dives to the basket, running the break vs Kobe did a ton of ISO dribbling, Post Ups, and 3's

Even in Kobe's era there was no step back or side step 3s like they do now which at times shows 4 steps taken when you replay it in slow motion. Kobe was shooting 3s over 1-2 defenders in his face and didn't have that luxury. As skilled as Kobe was imagine if the stepback 3 existed in his era and also the landing space rule which makes it even easier to get off jumpshots, Kobe would average 40ppg with rules like that.

bro MJ came to the league flying over people, he had 3 to 4 seconds more air time over peoples bro, not even fair. Kobe shot making was superior tho, those fadeways from Mike were lunch money... Kobe 24 cant fly over people but he can shoot any shot you need over doubles and triple teams, we know what we watched, the comparisons rly just help casuals. They see the foot work, thats all.

How can Kobe's shot making be superior when Jordan AVERAGED 50% FG shooting for his career and Kobe never average 50% FG shooting for a season? If they both take the same amount of shots (100) Jordan would make 5 shots more than Kobe Jordan was more efficient than Kobe

Kobe versus Jordan, you are exactly on point you cannot compare him to the Daisy Duke Jordan Air Jordan 1 2 3 4. You got a more compare him to the 9697 98 late 93 jordan. I love Kobe, but you're with my guy, and that's where the carbon copy came in and that era. Gil, you're going in. I love it. Good breakdown

Phil said that, Mike said that, Kobe didn’t let the game come to him. That’s why he the all time leader in field goals missed. Plus, genetically he was clearly inferior to Mike. He didn’t have those mitts, the cat quickness, the athleticism, the 40 inch in the air jump shot. Those are things you can’t emulate.

Jordan in 83-93 was the best player EVER, by a mile, when guys like larry magic all admit you're better than them, by a mile. Larry is so cocky he never complimented anyone with "god in basketball shorts" And people forget Jordan can give you that consistent 200% intensity for 48 min, as a scorer/defender, that's something people miss/avoid talking about when talking about guys like KD who's the best scorer, how can you be the best if you can't sustain it in the fourth quarter/OT, jordan gave you that in double triple OTs, non-stop, no fatigue.

What's gonna happen is, Kobe is gonna excel at the 80s style of play... Kobe didn't dribble a lot for his era, his post game and finesse at the rim will excel, his lay pack wasn't extreme. His grace and defense will also excel in the 80s... He might not win like he did because winning is a team effort, right? He resembles the second 3 peat MJ, the post, the fade, the tough shot making... You're right about that... But his game was trained by the 80s so why wouldn't he make it in the 80s

This Kobe slander gotta stop. You getting worse than ESPN Gil and I'm not even a Kobe fan like that. Always preferred LeBron. People compare them due to their drive to win and improve. But you acting like he didn't snag 2 without Shaq. MJ never won without Scottie. Kobe chased his CO star out of town and still got it done. And Kobe had vert before his decline. He was dunking on and cooking far better talent. Kobes era is one of the most talented times in NBA history. Stop it.
