Gillan really loved those red pants. He was wearing the same outfit 2 years later with Sabbath.
@tiwariraj5 жыл бұрын
I met Ian in 2002 in Mumbai India and he told me that he liked to wear comfortable clothes and still had some clothings from Gillan era...This came up while he was commenting on the white jacket that he was wearing on the cover of Mr. Universe.
@MoonchildMindaugas25 жыл бұрын
@@tiwariraj Now that I think of it... Coukd it be the same white jacket he wore in Beat Club and then the Child In Time remake music video!? :)
@ninoorjon2 жыл бұрын
@@MoonchildMindaugas2 You made me watch the video and the jacket at the Beat Club (1971) and at the Rainbow concert (1977) is definitely the same, the jacket on Mr. Universe is also very similar, but without seeing it from the back I can’t say with a 100% guarantee (but 99.99% I'm sure it's the same jacket). Yes, Mr. Gillan is a fashion guru.

My friend was attending Gillan's gig at Valkeala, Finland 1982. The time when Bernie Torme left the band and Janick Gers replaced him. There was a terrible wind at the open area where the gig was. I myself was just a toddler back then. My friend told me he saw the whole gig, although he had a strict schedule because his conscript duties. He went late to the army barracks and was suspended for two weeks coming up late. He said to me it was worth it.

This line up was one of the best raw hard rock bands of all time. I'm not sure if Ian Gillan realised this but he had a lot less success with Gillan after he changed personal. Losing B Torme was a big loss.

The Gillan band never went to crap commercial unlike Blackmore's Rainbow. These guys rock and overlooked in the annals of heavy metal history. Maiden and Priest listened to these guys obviously.
@FrostedSeagull8 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you Danny and I am a huge Blackmore fan. I heard that "Gillan" band did not last as Ian share the same problems as Ritchie. Glory Road charted well in the UK which led to massive internal band problems. Band members complained about not receiving cheques on time and/or wanted more money; they wanted music magazines to focus on them and not Ian Gillan. Ian Gillan got sick of the whole thing and joined Black Sabbath !

@Jeff Eggleston The only problem there is that all the best Gillan songs were written with Colin Towns.
