That's one of the best shaving razors ever made. They have a tendency to develop hairline cracks in their handle. To prevent that from happening, don't go full force when tightening the razor, and you can use a tiny teflon 5mm washer. It absorbs some of the force and in the same time prevents you from scratching the baseplate. Enjoy your new toys. They are truly awesome.

Great video, Paul! Owen in NZ is right, the Brut aftershave balm is wonderful. My younger daughter went to Australia in 2017 for three weeks on a school exchange program and (at my request) brought back two tubes. The Brut immediately became my favorite aftershave balm. Use it sparingly because ordering directly from Australia would cost a fortune! Cheers!

Love the Gillette New, Paul! Mine has had the gold wash removed and the red brass is even more beautiful, I think. It actually IS adjustable! They designed it so that if you unscrew it ever so slightly, it increases the aggressiveness. Try it out!

From what I've read about that razor, the top cap is actually copper and the base plate brass and handle gold plated, bottom copper also.

The long comb New looks like new! The top cap on those are unplated red brass (which I think just means that it's made with a higher copper content, so it fits nicely with your gorgeous copper bowl) with a lacquer coating to protect it from tarnishing I believe. It's one of my favourites. I'm with you, I look at that craftsmanship and marvel at how they mass produced them.

Happy Sunday Paul! Wow, sensational floral display...thank you Mrs. H!!! The date of your Gillette NEW LC is most likely from 1934. The clue is in the presentation case, Red over Black. That makes your razor a Red & Black special, I have the exact same razor and an original add for it from 1934. Yours is in marvelous condition! I am coveting your cooper Captain's Choice lather bowl (alas, the standard weight model sold out on Scott's website). I have the trio of the Gillette NEW razors; the Deluxe, the Short Comb, and the Long Comb. All are good shavers, but to me the Short Comb delivers superior results. The results delivered by NEW LC is as I have come to expect...close and comfortable with zero drama. Great shave Paul. Take care.

Beautiful razor and copper bowl! Back in the 1950's my father worked at the White Pine Copper Mine. Nice touch with the lights Mrs. H, I bet they look lovey after dark. You can't beat a "raspy" towel Paul. I do the same and they get even better when hung to dry outside for it adds a fresh air smell to them. Another kick in the backside from Mother Nature, three inches of snow overnight. We are starting to wonder if winter will ever end. Have a great Sunday! Ossie

I find it slightly aggressive, but nothing like an R41. That copper shaving bowl, could probably double as a cowbell( just grab a chopstick or wooden spoon.) After having a couple of ales, try playing along with the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman".

I have 2 Gillette New Long Comb razors, a British and an American, both with ball end handles. The teeth look a lot longer than the teeth on yours.The plating on the top caps had worn so I polished them. One is yellow brass and the other is red brass like yours. Fantastic razors.

Had a shave with Weishi 9306 L in Brass colour I started shaving this year ordered the Weishi. On AliExpress in Jan it came in Feb chucked it in cupboard as I could not remember why I had ordered and was using EJ DE89 Anyway was looking through Utube videos in my history found one where the Big John the Mad Scientist talks about this particular model of Weishi and he is absolutely right best shave I have had too date Probably nothing to do with this video But you did ask if viewers had had a good shave lol

Geo's most helpful tip for the Razorine is as follows: knob out. And definitely NOT a dirty phrase to stay in other countries! 🤣 So do you think the Captain's Choice bowl works pretty well then? I have two early twentieth century vintage Gillette razors: one from the 20s and one from the 30s. It's odd comparing them. The 20's razor is the most aggressive razor I own...I can only use it on the first pass to remove heavy stubble. The 30's razor is the most mildest razor I own, and I only use it from time to time for nostalgia. I'm interested in knowing if the change in aggression is due to changes in men's shaving habits, as men moved from the attention needed with straight razors (which are aggressive by nature) to becoming more rapid with the growing familiarity with safety razors.

It's the transition from straight razors to double edge razors. Men were used to blade feel and that is why earlier DE razors are much more aggressive.

You made a slight mistake... that razor is the short comb....I have the long comb IMHO I think the LongComb looks better . Want to get it replated. The new Gillette razor is comming out on Nov 1st...it is inspired after it.. but with a DE 89 style head... but it’s not made out of brass unfortunately .... yeah not sure if I’m going to get one but the case it comes with it’s real cool Btw you can pre order it amazon it’s about $30 us... and I hear it’s not being made in the states... that’s just hearsay though

It's something I have always done Craig, I use the towel in a shave, then I use that same one in the next shave just for wiping my hands etc, like a rotation really, keeps things clean, goes in the wash after that. :)

Great video Paul, I like that bowl very nice I will have to take a gander at their website...And some nice razors and other products you have been sent I though bloody hell that razor looks aggressive but when you started shaving with it I was surprised watching you and others shave I'm learning lots but still taking it slow well other than last week when I got a bit ahead of my self and went a little to fast on my neck and cut my self bled like a pig and a lesson learned from that and won't be making the same mistake lol I'm not letting my self being put off though I'm marching on with it and loving it 😀 well have a great day and take care 😀

Nice video. Interestingly I used one of these last night. Got it used...not in great condition. Yours seems to be golden pole and comb. My comb lost its gold after the shave where it made contact w the Personna glade.....no clue why. Cupper oxidizes if you don't dry it after use... It's a good machine, but one of those buys I regret (my Schone gives me a better shave and for a fraction) Have a wonderful Sunday...... I do want to watch a video including all the spicy sauces on the other channel. I am enjoying my personal made sauces...... Cheers mate.

great video i bought a cheat copper lather bowl on e-bay i saw the one you got WOW expensive US $31.95 strange that Brut after shave balm isin´t on E-Bay many kinda of food taste better the day after or should say even better yeah saw the giveaway commented better check if i liked as well think i forgot...done...oh love watching your videos here as well as your other channel haven´t used softerner for years washing anything

Another great video paul. Thinking of getting venture soap...balm and aftershave plus a yaqi 26mm brush with rainbow or ferrari. That bowl looks tidy mun. Whats your thoughts?
