Sadly, the shovelware issue has existed for every Nintendo system since the Wii. There's no reason for it. It's embarrassing. The Switch deserves far better and Nintendo should really put in some quality control for it. Sure, all these games pad out the system's library but they just do it in the worst possible way.

If only Nintendo would just implement some sort of quality control, already, to keep out the huge piles of shovelware. This shovelware issue has existed since the Wii and it just really needs to stop. It pads out the library, yeah, but not in a good way. Like, holy hell... the framerate on that wrestling game is just inexcusable and just plain embarrassing. How was that actually tested by actual human beings who went on to say, "yep. This is a finished product alright. Ship it." Also, looks like Troll and I's framerate was at least mostly fixed... it used to be a loooooot worse. I saw a review of it back when it first came out where it had barely even 5 frames a second. How do you even pull that off?! You have to try to not try in order to fail so hard. A game that barely even looks like it belongs on the PS2 should not run so poorly and yet, that game managed to do exactly that.

Um, the NES had more shovelware than any system to date, save the Ataris. It just takes a quick look in a used game store, or a Google search to know that. And the N64 was chocked full of STEAMING hot garbage. The SNES had the most quality control of any Nintendo Console, and it even had a lot of crap. The problem isn't the people who made the system, it's the people who make the shitty shovelware. If a system is selling really well, it is going to get a LOT of crap. (The WiiU being a massive flop had the unexpected benefit of not a lot of shovelware was made for it, because nobody wanted to develop for it, save Nintendo's core devs, and a few who saw the potential)

Another game that can be considered a worse Nintendo Switch port is Agony. That title accurately explains the experience of playing it; it's so painfully boring. I picked it up on sale wondering if there might be some sort of enjoyment to be had, but one thing that frustrated me was the really bad level design. You wanna know what's a delightful addition to a slow paced game that focuses on Outlast-style stealth? Well, some traps, how bout? You often have to time your movements just right or get your nipples pierced in a bad way. And make sure you don't get stuck on something. And speaking of stealth, you gotta evade these demons with fannies for faces in a manner a lot like Outlast. Since they don't have eyes, they won't be able to see you if you hold your breath. And also like in Outlast, you need to also complete some objectives increasing your chances of getting caught. It was interesting in Outlast because those objectives were often pretty varied. But a lot of the objectives in Agony boil down to finding some skulls to use as keys. And if you get caught, you can either continue your run by possessing tormented people as long as there isn't a sack on their heads, or use a limited checkpoint in the form of these weird meat shitting mirrors. The factor that will likely kill you the most is the confusing level design where you fall into an infernal chasm trying to climb something or be unable to figure out how to get around demons because there's barely any tutorial. And when you die, so does part of your interest, or even all of it. And that's a shame, because there's some pretty good presentation to Agony; the atmosphere is great with Hell's structures being made of bones and organs, the lore is interesting with rune diaries explaining just how draining it is to be in Hell, and the creatures are fittingly strange. But the pacing and the design are just terrible. And there are two other modes where the confusion comes to a head. Somehow, I couldn't figure out where to go at all in the Svccvbvs Mode, and the Agony Mode is a roguelike, so we gotta add randomization to the mix of bad player direction. Add in the Switch port's technical issues and downgraded graphics, and Agony can be seen as an accurate representation of Hell; unpleasent and not a comfy place to explore.

matt fahringer I don’t consider it downright garbage, just an okay tech demo that’s way more expensive than it should be. The mini games are pretty creative and can be fun at first, but they get pretty old pretty fast, so there’s no reason to go back to it or remember it, all of which would be fine if it wasn’t $50, which is probably the reason why most people who hated this game did so, since that’s money you could use to get Sonic Mania Plus and still have $20 to spare. This should be $15 at most, and a pack in at launch, given how it’s essentially Nintendo’s first attempt to make a game for the system that was essentially its Wii Sports.

I will say that TREVA games and Ratalaika Games (I think I spelled that wrong) make the worst Nintendo Switch games. TREVA makes games that look like they belong on mobile and have a ridiculous price, For example: Panda Hero. The game looks like one of those Mario bootlegs for your phone but for I think $30. And Ratalaika games, well, honestly, they don't really make bad games but their demos are just too short.

Huh... Surprised at no mention of Vroom in the Night Sky which was BLATANTLY made to cash in on the Nintendo Switch launch and has made pretty much every worst list of 2017! The Graphics are pretty generic and lack polish, the controls suck ESPECIALLY at the beginning when you have yet to buy new vehicles (do the training levels first, you'll thank me later), the level design is amateurish and requires no skill whatsoever from the player, and so little content that you'll be done with the darn thing in less than half an hour! I will say that after seeing that something like "My Riding Stables" exists I guess Vroom in the Night Sky is looking good in comparison, but otherwise it might be a close second for the title of Worst Game on the Nintendo Switch!
