One other thing you may want to do if you mount the camera to your table: Get some sort of hardware to screw into the table to provide guides so you can place the laser back to the exact same location if it gets bumped/moved. Moving it means re-calibrating the camera. (I've used simple 2" L brackets from a home improvement store. Dirt cheap, and can be placed at the corners of your laser frame legs.)

You have a 3d printer or several it looks like, pop into AutoCAD and design a bracket to fit the curved part of the laser frame and print it to mount the camera or theres many other ways that you could do9 this. Why not just 3d print a whole mount to attach it to the printer, something lighter then the arm they give you thats compact. If it were me id mount the camera right next to the Diode head on a 3d printed mount. As Engineers and Makers this is the whole point to what we do, Innovate, design, build and work the problem. Great video !!

Thanks Kelly, glad you enjoyed the video. You are correct that I have access to a number of Maker tools, but given that this is a review of an item thats "off the shelf", I believe its the responsibility to share functionality of the item out of the box, instead of just trying to "sell "the product. That said, if you and others are interested in side projects that would allow you to expand on what the base model provides, let me know ;)

I found that the notch you highlighted on the ball mount will not allow the camera to be 90 degrees to the work surface, I had to mill mine out to achieve the 90 degrees,

Great way to modify the ball mount. It would be great if it came standard so everyone can get the camera to 90 degrees.

1 mil = 001" 1 mm = 0.039" is this camera accurate within .001" (.0254 mm) ?

Just an FYI, only part way through the video but the camera should attach to the back frame facing inward. That frame looks square on your laser. It doesn't go on the front. My camera, different brand, fits on the back frame and works well. Also nothing is stored in the laser for the camera. The camera is separate and all information is stored in Lightburn. If the frame is moved at all then the calibration will be off, that is why you attach it to the frame.

Front or back doesn't matter to Lightburn - Some lasers have their X stepping motor out the back of the gantry, which can hit the camera mount if it's on the back frame.

Thanks Gil for the great review. What bed sizes does this camera support?
@LaserLivestream
@LaserLivestream Жыл бұрын
Out of the box, using the mounting kit supplied, the max bed size is 400mm x 400mm. If you place the camera higher, you can set it up for a bigger bed size.

@@LaserLivestream i have it open but the way my house is positioned it blows air in towards the garage. i have pimped out but i still have a smell, i guess the majority of the bad stuff goes out via the pipes but the small still hangs around. i look forward to your video

If you can mount the camera on the inside of the lid, and get it high enough to see your work area, should work well.
