I distinctly remember Russ taking horrible shots in clutch situations and not passing the ball to KD when they needed a bucket. KD was visibly frustrated all the time with Russ. That’s why KD left

I remember Westbrook throwing up all those bricks during crunch time. It’s 100% why KD left. Russ should have done the athletic thing and then given the clutch shots to KD. Simple. They would have won a championship together had Russ played his role.

And that’s the key clutch time. This teams (OKC-Kd/Westbrook & Cavs-Ky/Bron) is when the narrative of a team having a #1 #2 on equal footing Vs who’s role was it to CLOSE IN THE CLUTCH. I also blame Brons second finals with Ray Allen. It just shows you when you have a deep squad with shooters that anyone can close the game. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be the #1 option based on shooting pct%. If your not a clutch player, are you truly a #1 option. That’s the real question

In the 80s you didnt have 24 hour sports talk to stir the pot. It just really got started in the 90s. You didnt have fans with direct access. Players couldn't move around the same either. It was a different time. There was more of a focus on winning than "who is the man". The media and fans would definitely stir up mess between Magic and Cap today.

KD left because he was tired of playing 2 on 5 every game. It’s insanity that KD and Westbrook would have to score 30+ each (including a Westbrook double or triple double) just for OKC to barely win, add the fact the GMs never brung in players that made the same impact James Harden & Daequan Cook did. That 2K offense can only get you so far. Not for three-four full seasons AND the playoffs.
