Gilbert Arenas Says The NBA Does NOT FEAR LeBron James as Gil's Arena reacts to Mario Chalmers & Shaquille O'Neal's comments that nobody in the NBA has ever said they feared King James and discuss why LeBron is not put in the same conversations as on court killers like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson despite being widely considered the greatest player the game has seen.
Gil’s Arena premieres every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

Gil talking shit here but he should stop and think for a second... did the whole entire league arrived at this conclusion "don't look the man in the eyes" by accident? Should talk to ryan collins. Lebrons stan begging for attention and respect. Still doesn't listen to what majority is sayin. Lebron is a product not a generational talent. Longevity is not a talent or skill. None of this matters if Allen don't hit that series turning 3. None of this matters if Kyrie missed that 3 or underperform in game 5-6-7. The guy avg 27pts in the finals. Got swept way too many times. I believe in truth no matter how Lebron stans twist it truth will always prevails its just a matter of time. They miss-using/understanding what is meant by feared a player in the NBA. I think Gilbert explained it best when he said afraid of style of play but there’s more to it because players talk about how MJ/Kobe would never let their foot off the gas and was always in attack mode! That is a big part of it too.

Of course they were constantly on the go, but look what that did to the tail end of their careers or even the injuries for Kobe? Lebron has the ability to go full steam when he needs too, but not all the time because it’s overwhelming on his body and he’s realized that from seeing previous players. We can’t deny that when needed to can score at will and make those decisions when he needs too.

The fear for Jordan came not from the fact he was going for your neck it is from the fact he was messing up their checks. The promos that man would cut on players combined with the way he would turn them into nightly highlight reels had a direct impact on their checks even more so back then. If you were the guy and it was your team you were supposed to have some sort of answer for 23. Teams had bonuses directly connected to how you played against Mike. Sponsors, bonuses, contract negotiations he impacted it all. When 23 cut a promo on you EVERYONE was listening even people who didn't watch basketball.

The social media age is wild. Bron ain't even retired and he's already getting pulled down. Bron isn't feared... Bron doesn't have a bag..... ect. In about ten years all this is gonna be washed, rinsed, and repeated. There will be a younger group of viewers saying the 2000s and the 2010s were trash. They didn't have as many good three point shooters. They never had a player like Wenby ect. Not even the new media like Gil's Arena is aware of this. Bron played against Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, ect. Those same players played against Jordan. Yet Jordan also played against Bird and Magic. The new fans are biased and don't really know the NBA as a game, as a business, or it's history. The old media is biased and storyline driven. The new media is biased for the players but they are already old heads themselves and don't realize it.

i do think the 2000s is gonna remembered as a very unique era every players have different styles that defines them which made it not only amazing but also leveled the talents was insane i only need to say 3 guys (KOBE,DUNCAN,LEBRON) the 2010s for the Tactical side of things The revolution of The Pace and Space offense, the rise of the needs of Versality in defense where off ball defense is as important as iso. I think both eras are gonna talked about because it can Help shape our styles. both era have Paradox goin on so even me who's didn't grasp the 2000s i know enough those players bring different taste to the game i came around the pace and space era i gotta know my era very well. im not saying the 90s suck but Respectfully comparing the volume of talents i just think the 2000s and 2010s is top tier Tactical and Uniqueness wise.

@@keysersoze540 so mj was old when kobe drop 30 on him in his last championship year we ain't talking about 2002 or 2003 we talking 1997 & 1998 that's the problem people gets so caught in nike ads, the shoes, nba hype & him winning championships & against weaker competition team wise meaning teams in the 90s had some great players but it wasn't an abundance like today's game, the 2000s & the 80s the talent was diluted team wise basically the best players in the 90s could play against any era but their role players not necessarily like some role players in today & the 2000s game would have been starters in the 90s but because the talent amount increase they were & are role players & that makes a difference in winning & losing.... example kukoc was the best foreign player in the 90s but I think Manu ginobili is better & he was a starter but settle to being the 6th man to help the spurs win multiple championships but put ginobili in the 90s I think he's easily a starter & the best foreign player making kukoc the 2nd best foreign player in that era I don't know this for fact but just deeply examining their game & play style I think most would rank ginobili over kukoc but he isn't way better but still better he gets the edge... awe & admire pretty much means the same guess what that didn't stop ai from crossing mj cause he had no fear Abdul Rauf use to cook mj so much mj never wanted to guard him now off course Rauf couldn't guard mj either but this notion that mj was an unstoppable force offensively which he was but could guard everyone to is a lie it plenty of players who use to cook mj it just wasn't alot of great shooting guards that could cause they really didn't have the full package offensively most of the 90s sg's were spot up & off the screen shooters vs kobe, ai, t mac, vince carter, ray allen etc all these guys prime years was in the 2000s & they could shoot off the dribble create their own shot which they pretty much learned from watching mj so it inspired them to become better than mjs competition notice I said mj competition not mj

Bring some champions on here please. Don’t talk about without winners in the room. Gil is a totally different person when I’m the same room as MJ. Some players have feared lebron. Until they faced him a few times. Then it was what it was.

The Piston's said, dont let him get airbourne. So what are you fools talking about. Mike got clotheslined and suplex by the Piston's, and still averaged 30+ against them.

So much of this boils down to LeBron CLEARLY being a person who enjoys being liked, while Jordan and Kobe were not. LeBron has always been seen as more caring of people, in general, while Jordan and Kobe seemed absolutely maniacal about winning, which meant crushing even teammates, if necessary. That's always been the perception. Players might not have feared LeBrons personality, but they ABSOLUTELY feared his game. Players, Coaches, even franchises. Ask the Pacers, or Atlanta, or Charlotte, or the Pistons, or the Knicks, or the 2016 Warriors (who had to go get Durant), to name a few.

The difference is you fear what they can do on the court and like Kenyon was saying MJ was a whole new beast that dominated the 90s and the young players that came up watching that and wanting to be like that they came up trying to be killers. In the 80s-90s the players didn't play like MJ and didn't know what to do. Players that bring something new to the game always shocks the NBA Air Jordan, Mamba Mentality, AI crossover, Shaqs big strong body and dominance, lebrons skills at 6'8 with a strong athletic body, KD shooting ability and skills at 6'11 while being skinny, D Rose athleticism and finishing ability at 6'3, Currys deep range Shooting etc. As time goes on players coming up get to see all of these skills and abilities and learn them so you're not going to fear something you've already seen and or know how to do to some extent

Stop the cap Gil! You had Vernon Maxwell on your podcast and he told you that he couldn't sleep the night before playing Jordan. It's not fear it's respect for Jordan's game. It didn't mean Mad Max wasn't gonna compete against MJ

Yes, a majority of NBA Players actually feared MJ but let's not forget, other major key Players such as Magic, Hakeem, Dominique, Iverson, and Vince Carter had that fear factor on others too

I never understood why fear is mentioned in the game of basketball. It’s not combat for crying out loud… Why would fear a man whose only objective is to put a ball through a hoop?
