Basketball players and fans make this error alike; that they either don’t want to compare the past with future players, or they are set on convinced that the past was great and could play in our current generations. I’m reality, what actually is happening, is that the greats of the past, MJ, magic, Kobe, Shaq, etc, all of these past greats, were pioneers. They all reshaped the game into something new, even not so long ago, Stephen Curry pioneered the three point shooting to another level. The constant comparisons with past and future is ridiculous, because Shaq pioneered the big man post up, and now today, we see many who have learned and use the Shaq techniques and methods, same for other greats, the players of the league follow certain play styles based on past players who were greats! What does this mean? Does it not mean then, that after MJ, everyone in 20 years basically embodied MJ’s techniques and styles? Yes! But then other greats came along and developed new styles. So to compare a young player today with a great like MJ is a waste of time, because in order to surpass a great that everyone copies and emulates, you must become a pioneer amongst pioneers, the best creator of new techniques and styles, because MJ had so many abilities, that it is why old fans and players still see him as the greatest of the greats! Because no one has dared REALLY surpass him in reshaping, transforming the game as much as MJ did.

Gil you need to stop this madness. Jordan has never even said he was the GOAT. He has always respected the game and it’s history. This is the Media pushing these debates with some fuel from KLUTCH. You are starting to sound bitter.

The only reason they compare Edwards to MJ is because they need to sell you the product. They are both dark skin and jump high and dunk hard... but they dont play the same stile at all. You cant push your product by comparing Edwards to a young Vince Carter you need bigger. That is the same s*** with Haliburton he had a good half a season suddenly he is the next Magic Johnson.

People needs to know that being compared to Jordan means you are going to be the face of NBA, thats why media, players etc are all for this campaign. You guys must remember before that grant hill is the next MJ before injury, then kobe, then lebron and now ANt, Those guys compared to MJ like 24/7 in their heydays. So you must know this is the pattern, we never heard timmy, jokic, dirk etc are compared to MJ right? and they didnt have the title as face of the NBA

Gill had a valid point about it’s unfair for Chris Broussard to say what he said. but somehow he had to switch back to Lebron. He can’t help himself

The saying he won’t be a goat is as easy a take as saying you won’t become a millionaire. It’s easy to try to be an extremist in order to be right in due time. Nobody expected Ant to be THIS, he was always nice through high school and at Georgia… but he has developed and gotten marginally better every game damn near. The kid is special and I truly think it’s easier to say that health permitting, he can be in the goat debate if he keeps this level of progression up

You have to understand that MJ did unbelievable things in an era. You can’t ignore the improved diet, training, etc. that athletes now all have. Nobody should ever compare anything being done now to prior eras because players in those eras did not have the information and training advantage that current players have. Even MJ would never call himself the GOAT because he understands the very nature of human evolution and it would be unfair to players who played in prior eras.

I love the Anthony Edwards & Jordan Comparison… AE can definitely end up in the goat debate, we just gotta see how things play out for him. No one predicted Jordan would win 6 championships (2 3-Peats) the way he did. So just let him play his career out & let’s enjoy the ride.
@Mektek197 ай бұрын
Jordan’s bday is in February but I still get Gil’s point. In terms of totals he has a leg up. If Ant retires at 35 he will be in like year 17 and have higher totals if healthy. The truth is we don’t know. Jordan’s career is so accomplished and damn near perfect so it’s hard to beat. Him being the GOAT is unlikely but him being in the convo is possible.
