@fresh_printz But why wouldn’t someone who played at a high level in the point guard role not be able to coach ? Most coaches played basketball in some capacity and then started coaching, if he doesn’t start in the NBA it would have to be at the college level either way your logic is biased .

Why not have Dan Hurley as Head Coach and then JJ as the Assistant Coach so that JJ can help Dan get used to the NBA, while JJ gets his experience being a coach for the first time? If Hurley doesn't work out, Lakers can fire him and promote JJ as Head Coach after he gets experience being a coach.

Every persons journey is different and there is a lot of talent in the league now, but I totally get why they brought it up. Billy Donovan is still coaching in the league and also won two titles in college as a head coach. Brad Stevens was the Celtics coach as recently as 2021, so it’s not like they’re bringing up all old stuff. College and NBA are different and there is a reason that there haven’t been many to successfully make the jump.

Gil was correct on his assessment. I feel Coach felt, "a bird in the hand, is worth more than two in the bush." He had guaranteed money and he coaches kids who will play for him. I think the NBA has players who earn well deserved monet but that kind of money will swell your head and your coach earns 2, 3 times less.. coach made the right decision, and your take didn't age well.

None of these analysts consider the team the college coach came into the NBA to coach. I don't think any other college to NBA coach started with two top-15 players and an already playoff team to start with. One of the two being a top-two player ever, including his IQ of the game. It is wild to me how these over-achievers as players/media insist on having the most negative views on whether or not someone can be successful.

People are forgetting that LeBron WANTS to be coached and held accountable. All of his prior coaches have said it, and he himself has made that known. Aside from two incidences at the end of the season, Bron listened to Ham through and through. He even defended Darvin Ham when the media was destroying him, despite how bad he was.

Lmao the fact that they dont think a Coach that had success in college will have a chance in the NBA. These are the same guys that say Bronny James is NBA ready 😂. Really makes you believe that Lebron really does have this much power in the league 😂. Damn shame

Y’all sound crazy as hell on that couch…dream job and if all fails who would not offer him a college job if he doesn’t succeed in the NBA. He is a 2x champion so what else does he have to prove at the college level.
