Swaggy P obviously doesn't know how MVP voting tends to work. One of the "unofficial" criteria for the MVP is you have to be on a team with one of the best records in the league. Russel Westbrook is actually an extreme outlier here because his team was 10th overall in the NBA when he won. Jokic's second MVP was also an outlier because they were also 10th in the NBA. Going back to 1974, out of the last 50 MVP's, 31 of them had the best team record in the NBA, and 46 of them have been on top 5 teams. The ONLY four MVP winners in the last FIVE decades to win the Award and NOT be on a top 5 team are Jokic(10th) Westbrook(10th) Jordan(7th) and Kareem(9th). That's it. If you are not on a top five team you are extremely unlikely to get the MVP nod, no matter how good your stats are. It wasn't voter fatigue and it wasn't the voters screwing Westbrook over, it was the fact that he wasn't on a top 5 team. His team was 10th, 8th and 9th in the league when he got those three triple double seasons. It's a small miracle that he won one.

Which is why his great games are some of the best you will ever see but his bad games were also disastrous. The rebounds definitely did look like stats padding to me at times. He did get many legit rebounds from hustling but I do remember a lot of offense rebounds where Adams would box out for him and he would get the rebound or when he would come flying and get a rebound that was going to the hands of us teammates. You had to watch Russ Play during his "stat padding era", and no disrespect or discredit to Russel, but it was obvious that he was playing to make his stats better, rather than his team. Averaging a triple double for the season is a great feat, but if you're not making it past the 1st or 2nd rounds, then what's that triple double mean? I get some of that falls on the team and the coaching but if your not winning, how are you the most valuable player? The difference is that the Joker plays winning basketball, and he's doing it with a "boring" style of basketball. He doesn't dunk (often or flashy), he doesn't shoot logo shot threes, or try to draw 30 foul shots a night. He doesn't try to dunk on everyone on the court. His IQ for the game is what makes him great, when the Joker is on the court, it's his basketball game and he's just allowing others to play it. The Joker is the slowest, most unathletic, out of shape player on the court, and still not a single fucking person can stop him. The Joker shouldn't be better than everyone, but he is.
