Jokic is averaging a 30 point triple double. Nuggets offensive rating with him on the floor is about 120, and without him it's 98.5. They're an awful team, and Jokic is the only reason they're a playoff contender. If we're talking most VALUABLE player, there is no one in the league more valuable. And there's nobody who can do what he does. Have Tatum trade places with Jokic and see how successful the Celtics and Nuggets are.

Russ was padding his rebounds by taking a few that were right there for the big. It's plenty of clips on this platform that'll show that. @shawnmichaelsbellybuttonri98714 күн бұрын
The whole "Why is Joker the exception?" argument was killed when he didn't win his 3rd straight. The narrative stopped being about "is his season worthy enough to be an MVP" and it became about "is his season worthy enough to be a 3-time MVP" and he didn't get it. Also, we need to stop acting like triple doubles are all created equal. Jokic's percentages and efficiency are way higher than Russ's, and Russ is #2 all time in turnovers and many of those turnovers cost them games. I know everyone loves Russ, and I do too, he's one of my favorite players of all time, but we gotta stop letting affection get in the way of reality. Like, Russ has legit been caught chasing rebounds and his centers have given up rebounds FOR him lol. He's also been caught passing up on open shots to boost his assist numbers. It's almost like people don't actually watch the games anymore. There's a difference between having crazy stats and chasing crazy stats.

The way Russ played to get his triple and the way Jokic is playing is miles apart. Jokic plays winning basketball. Russ forced alot of passes and stole alot of rebounds to get his stats.
@Christopher._M4 күн бұрын
Westbrook just makes bad choices. When he forced passes it's not that he was stats chasing. He just wants to make a play when it's not there. Which is why his great games are some of the best you will ever see but his bad games were also disastrous. The rebounds definitely did look like stats padding to me at times. He did get many legit rebounds from hustling but I do remember a lot of offense rebounds where Adams would box out for him and he would get the rebound or when he would come flying and get a rebound that was going to the hands of us teammates. While some say it was because OKC and he wanted to push the ball up the court faster I still have my doubta

i think Nick is just trying to defend past players whether it's fair that we keep doing it or not. he's right, tons of the best players in nba history should have more mvps than they do. his point is that yes, jokic is amazing. but he's not lebron or kobe, what makes this decision change with him? because of stats? russell westbrook has been a much more impactful player on the culture of the nba than jokic has, while arguably being the worse player between the two. people like james harden, kevin durant, all these guys who shaped the nba. and jokic comes in and suddenly we're more willing than ever to hand one person the mvp.
@bluenobandz4 күн бұрын
i personally do think jokic is up there for mvp talks, but then what? he gets 4 mvps before the age of 30, and we're gonna keep givin him more? more than lebron & jordan? or are we gonna do him like lebron & jordan once he hits 4? either way that goes, jokic is not yet deserving to be in the same conversation as those guys. he hasn't done nearly enough.

Because other people were putting up godly stats during those years? Like the only Jokic MVP you could say is a bit dick suck is the one he got when he made the 6th seed but that mvp was built off the mvps of the previous decade (insane leap in everything accomplishing shit we've literally never seen on god tier efficiency carrying bums to the point if you take him off the team they're the worst in the league) or last year I thought Luka was deserving. Harden's best years overlap with Giannis putting up crazy stats while being one of the best defenders in the league on the 1 seed. There was no one like that for Jokic last year. Durant's best years overlap with Lebron. Westbrook's overlap with them all. Curry's best years etc. etc.

I disagree about David Robinson's 71, yes his team fed him but he got it on 41 FGA. Your team working hard to get you the ball and get you a massive night is one thing. Actually following through with the hot hand and executing while snagging a win is completely different. There's a reason only 10 guys in NBA history have scored 70 points in a game. Michael Jordan never even hit that number, with his career high at 69. Durant's career high is 55 and LeBron's is 61.
