Thanks for the video. Brings back memories since I grew up and went to school in Redcar. I've spent many hours picking up mussels, crabs and even fishes in the rock pools during low tide. We lived at 58 Redcar Lane. My old school has been demolished. Did my A levels at the Redcar & Cleveland college. And Yes, the rebuilt cinema on the seafront looks very nice. I've emigrated and lived in Canada for about 34 years now.

My father managed the Woolworth store in Redcar and you can see the remnants of it just right of the Hub at 7:30. The stairs and handholds. The library has been moved from the original position and I have great memories of that and the clubs run upstairs from it. My mother used to buy crabs off the beachfront until she finally got one that was a bit too large and lively to keep in the pot :) When we arrived there, ICI was still operating and every couple of nights, the stacks would flare off dodgy batches of chemicals like the opening of Blade Runner.

Been in Redcar a good few times, from the late 60s, it's lovely. I've got friends who live there. The beach is brilliant. There's usually a car boot sale on the racecourse on a Sunday morning I think.

Well, there's a clue as to how windy Redcar is just by looking out to sea! Lol. The old Regent has gone now. Replaced by a modern looking building. A lot of the seafront properties are slowly getting 'done up', and there is a new amusement type park being built along the Majuba road, as well. Sometimes, when sea conditions are right, a petrified forest is exposed on the beach. It's quite a sight to see. Then, as quickly as it's exposed, the tide covers it all back up with sand and rocks again!

Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it very much. I lived in Redcar for over twenty years; went to school at Zetland Junior School, Warwick Road (aka Redcar Lane) and Sir William Turners. Worked at British Steel until 1975 then left to work overseas, now living in Shropshire. Not keen on the 'vertical pier' but impressed with all the rejuvination of the esplanade. Lived at the large house with the bay windows shown at the start of the video, so it was good to see it still standing.

I went to school in Redcar something like 50 years ago, the area called Coatham really, next to the Church spire @ 16.50. Coatham starts where you finished your walk. I live in the USA now but who knows one day I might get back to see the place again. And yes, it is always windy in Redcar that's why the wind turbines are there! but the blowing sand gives you a facial free of charge! The beach continues for a few miles along to South Gare way in the distance. I'm not anti-wind turbines but I think in this location they spoil the nice view over the sea. Years ago there would be cargo ships anchored where the turbines are waiting to go into the Tees.

Hi Neil, thanks so much for the walk. I grew up in Redcar but moved away and am homesick, so have thoroughly enjoyed seeing my old haunts. Can i just be a wee bit picky (constructive criticism😊) and suggest that you perhaps do walks without the music - i kkow its prob just me, but i prefer to hear sounds of the place youre walking, like the sea and seagulls, rather than distracting music. I end up turning the sound off which is a great shame. But i love your walks, and i especially love this one. Thank you for sharing❤

Let you into a little secret Redcar is cleaner than California what happened to all the graffiti and trash, its beyond remarkable to see this.. Was everyone sent to re education camps. I haven't lived in Redcar or even been back in over 30 years but something must of changed. Even the high street looks polished. Seriously California towns and cities are dumps compared to how clean it looks here. I guess pride still has meaning. Great videos.

Brilliant 🤟 Love the smaller more personable sea side towns. They have a more relaxing vibe, minus the Hitchcock birds, 🤣. That 'Choo-Choo' cover up song sounds alot like 'Ride Sally Ride'...I may or may not have been singing along. 🤣 Wind turbines are amazing and wonderful for our planet! Yea, they may be an eye sore for some, but it's better than oil rigs drilling 5-6 miles deep into our planet. Global warming is on the rise. These super hot unnatural temperatures are proof. 🥺

I live in redcar and it may not be a blackpool or skegness or beaches on the south coast. It does have a lovely beach and more to offer than you see here. It's just sadly has a poor council with on direction. That could make redcar a even better place to visit.
