But please don't try this in low stakes cash games ! This play is only going to work on players who are thinking enough players to think about what you could have, what they can beat, what you're open raising with, etc !

I can guarantee at any Legion tourney I've played at, or even at the local casino, most players would sooner sell their first born than fold two pair on that board. Don't try this at home, kids...it only works for players disciplined enough to think they might be beat.

Looking from afar....and not knowing the immediate history of your table and experince with Pratyush Buddiga, seems he has you here. The turn, seemingly juicy for Pratyush, presents oppurtunity for creation. River? Solidifies the story. Nick Schulman - great commentary....hammers it home. I don't get to see these plays at the games I play because nobody on the table sees them. Now I do. Thank you.

The interesting part in this hand: Buddiga apparently decided that he was at the very bottom of his (betting) range here; -is he even ever bluffing ?! From this POV, the bluff might not be quite as good as it appears; - it just happened that Buddiga had pretty much the only hand that he can unexploitably fold. With QJ I would strongly expect a crying call. Reason: His range at the river, after the bet, is quite precisely QJ/JT, or a set. Folding QJ is very likely too much.

Hey are chip counts always the same? Otherwise it would make.more sense to just speak in percentages. I have no idea how much 5500 is compared to how many chips you actually get.
@DaddyBear3000
@DaddyBear3000 4 жыл бұрын
anom I get what you mean, but it’s all relative. Your chip count is relative to the chip count of your opponents and the likelihood of play depends on the number of players vs the amount of the blinds. It could be a very long video if he goes in to full considerations.

If I am putting 35k in the pot after the river with a two pair , I am 100% sure that I am all prepared to call even an all in especially with the short stack in the tournament. I see that as a bad fold , yes he could have checked the river if he wasn't prepared to call a raise or an all in. You have to take ur chances especially in the tournaments and having a two pair os more than a chance
@benlou3758
@benlou3758 4 жыл бұрын
Idk if it's a bad fold against daniel. Daniel plays pretty snug and it makes a lot of sense for him to have a straight here. If you are committing the river with two pair, that means ur calling with all hands better than 2 pair and maybe some worse, if you're too call heavy, it can be easy to take you to valuetown. Buddiga knows that Daniel is tight and given the pot odds on the river, he'd have to win 25% of the time to be profitable and he prob doesn't think daniel has that many bluffs. The way buddiga played this he could have a set in his range. I think i would fold against daniel as well (also he didn't bomb raise the river, making it look like a value raise, which is very smart)

Today I'll be reviewing a sprawling, multi-layered bluff from the Super High Roller Bowl. The opening plays seemed a bit avant garde. It wasn't all together bad by any means, but I don't think Negreanu is breaking any new ground here. We've seen it before, we'll see it again. The middle of this hand is slow and pleasant, but what really sets this play apart is the closing, in which the full force of Negreanu's creativity is unleashed. It's like Negreanu is going back to his roots from the Poker After Dark, High Stakes Poker Era. This is made all the better by a surprising but much-appreciated guest spot by the sultan of smooth dulcet tones himself, Nick Shulman. Overall, I'm feeling a strong 8 to a weak 9 on this play. It is on par with all of Negrageanu's past work. So what did you think of the bluff? Did you love it? Did you hate it? What do you think was missing? Make sure to tell me below. Until next time. TRAN

Hi Daniel, I need some advice. I play 2/5 at my local casino and the games are usually good. I have one problem though, the rake is only 10%!! I've heard that you need much higher rake than that to win in the long run, but I'm not sure what to do. Should I try to find a casino with higher rake, or could I just continue playing at the local casino? Maybe tipping the dealer a lot be a reasonable substitute for the low rake? Thanks in advance, love your content!

The real lesson here is not what DN says about don't bet when your cards are so obvious, or his great play on the river, or the many comments I see about how Buddiga should have checked the river... no. The real lesson here- for the average player trying to learn- is to play ABC poker. If Buddiga had simply bet the flop and turn he would never have found himself on Hand Breakdowns. He would have taken down a decent small pot and nobody would have ever given this a second glance.
