I love Simon so much: Standard move... I'll do it without calculating... Should have calculated... Simply an idiotic move... Thanks for being so real, Simon. It is so instructive and comforting to see that the struggle can be real - even for GMs. You are my favorite chess streamer.

Agreed. Also, around 8:50 "this is either a really good move, or a really bad move."

It’s insane to think I’ve watched easily over 20 full days of your content. Likes that’s a lot of my life. You’re such a great player and I enjoy your personality as it makes learning more chess fun!

i mean it's no secret there are a lot of cheaters in ~2000 elo range at longer time controls but the ammount in this speedrun has been pretty insane.

Simon is one of those Grand Masters who really does like educating people about the game - here it is an interesting point about how one slightly inaccurate move very early in the game, set the tone, and eventuality led to a loss. It is sometimes easy to blitz out 'reasonable' looking moves, but here is illustration that you need to calculate from very early on in the game. I've just got GingerGM's Tiger's Modern - chess should be fun.....but yes, you do need to think too! I think the way Simon teaches chess is the perfect combination of fun and thinking!

Good video. I've been playing the jobaba for the last year and I've found myself a nice little queen trap in these positions with a3 first. If he takes on b2, then Na4! But I've begun seeing a cheeky refutation by black with Bf5 paired with Qb6...and now the trap doesn't work anymore. And in fact...it creates some decent problems. I'm finding that in the first 6 months...I was absolutely crushing with the Jobava...but now, it feels like I'm losing much more often with it and getting difficult positions. I think players are sharpening up against it

When this player realized he was playing a GM he started to cheat. It's Simon's fault for having such a nickname (just kidding KEKW)

@@saintsaens21Are you talking about his streams or KZbin videos. If the latter, I wonder if he has encountered a lot of cheaters but doesn't post them to KZbin unless he feels there's a lot of instructional value.
@saintsaens21
@saintsaens21 Жыл бұрын
@@dsrguru No, I looked at his last games on the website. Daniel just doesn't encounter cheats. Maybe because his profile doesn't mention who he is. Or because he doesn't flag suspicious games and is actually strong enough to beat cheats.

An instructive game. I find that the Jobava London can be tricky to play, in that white needs to play accurately. If you play the wrong move or follow the wrong plan, it can easily become a very difficult position.

He simply played too fast, a3 is a very simple defensive idea, well known for advanced players, I've trapped so many Queens on my blitz game like this because people see a pawn and they take it. Nothing wrong with the opening.

18:47 I haven’t analyzed this, but instead of f3 wouldn’t bishop d6 work?
@josketobben
@josketobben Жыл бұрын
Gets rid of the central knight, but it does give up the bishop pair. If black grabs the bishop pair after f3 then the pawn structure gets repaired. So f3 seems preferable.

eric hansen's speedrun account doesn't reference him, his title or that it's a speed run; maybe too late to change but might reduce the depressing frequency of cheater encounters

I play the Jobava and 6...Qb6 actually came as a little shock to me, It wasn't in my study repertoire which is fairly big. And then I played the same mistake as you in my head, 7a3. Its just so natural in the Jobava, but there is a better move. Gonna watch the rest of the video now.

After playing e4 forever, I'm trying to learn the Jobava. My attempts so far are similar to this one from Simon. They say you learn more from your losses, so I should be a GM pretty soon at this rate. Jesus - just checked his account, yet another cheater. It's like a plague.

simon i would still check with the computer on this one and here's why. i feel the ending in which your opponent was struggling to find the right sequence was planned. every move that seemed to not be the best was made to throw off the algorhythm and accuracy level so no one would suspect them of cheating. but he was!!!! this was an example of move manipulation. i played a game the other day where my opponent used a bot for the majority of the game and was accurate. all the moves they played that took longer than say ten seconds or so were the third or fourth best move or an error. this was time manipulation. but in both cases a cheat! i dont know this guy play almost a perfect game in my view from what he was trying to achieve. even the rook sac i mean when i see that i always check the game. anyway thanks for the video hope to see more soon.
