Yeah, the most important factor that makes me certain they’re real is how hard she’s clearly worked to hide them. Agree, some were just regular facial expressions. Raising an eyebrow isn't necessarily a tic - Some people are just more expressive/reactive with their facial expressions whether that be subconsciously or consciously. While I believe Billie does have tourettes some of these just seemed like regular facial expressions or movement. I think she is naturally expressive - she is very animated when she talks. Maybe that's a result of tourettes - maybe to try and hide when she does tic so that they "blend" in more but she definitely does seem to be quite animated naturally when she is responding or engaging with people. You could see her tic in the first clip very clearly even if it was a subtle kind of tic (slight head/neck jerk). But when she was in the car with James Corden I couldn't notice any tic's there... But granted, I'm not an expert! Maybe she was suppressing? But I couldn't notice any specific tic's there for example.

But for some reason, and I don’t know why, they just gradually tapered off. They were very strong when I was young. I would exhaust myself in them. I had a twitch and a squeak that I would do. I would twitch my nose and eye, and then do this squeak that I would try to suppress. I would twitch at the organs inside of my rib cage. And I find myself occasionally doing this still, only (thankfully) to a lesser degree. But like you said, if I concentrate on the topic, especially if I’m watching someone with Tourette’s, I feel a tick or a twitch building inside and I have to resist. It makes me feel better because sometimes I feel like I’m not valid in my Tourettes despite me being diagnosed at the age of 5. I don’t have any if the “grandiouse” ones as you out it in another video. While as a child my Tourette’s was pretty bad, once I reached my late teens they became so much more minor to the point I no longer needed medication. Nowadays mine are mainly muscle tensing, such as my neck, stomach, shoulders and thighs. They come and go, but the two big ones I’ve had nonstop since childhood are one that looks like I’m eye rolling (like Billie showed) and nose scrunching. I learned to “mask” them since, while people tell me nowadays that they don’t even notice my tics, multiple times when I was younger people would make fun of my eye tic especially. A big one I do is in public when I have the neck tensing tic, I act as if I’m simply stretching my neck. Sorry this was so long! I tried suppressing them when I was in class, but people got freaked out, as I would shake intensely and my neck would tense up to the extreme. So I stopped trying, just letting it all out. Because punching myself at random and twisting my head to the point the neck cracks was apparently a lot less scary for my class mates.

My question is why would she make it up for fame if she's already famous? The logic the ppl fake claiming her use is non-existent

im sorry but billie is definitely NOT faking it. i swear the moment the woman gets a boost in her career people like this destroy it for her. just say congratulations even if u dont mean it and stop talking down on women.

I started getting the “beginning symptoms” like rapid blinking, eyebrow darting etc. it lasted for about two years but finally went away before anything would progress. I have SPD and tics are (sometimes) a symptom of it but they usually only happen temporarily and last for a few years, come back for a few and just keep going back and forth that way. And even those small things made me insecure, I can’t imagine being on stage SINGING and having to suppress my tics

I have so much respects for Billie. I don’t understand how she could be faking it if most people never even knew she had it because she suppress it so much. If it is based on an impulse jerk reaction, then suppressing it would be extremely hard. I know all about how hard it is to fight against impulses, but I can only imagine what it’s like to have Tourette’s. People already poke fun of those who are nd. To be in the public world makes masking probably extremely hard.

The amount of energy that needs to be used to suppress the tics for anyone with Tourette’s would be huge. How exhausting for you all ♥️

Now, to seriousness. I didn’t know that Billie has tics, so when I watched this video, I was glad to have learned all about tics. Ur channel is amazing and I love that no matter how “weird” your tics are, u continue ur day and videos and that shows how true of not only a person with tics, but a person in general. (is this correct for me to say tics in this case? I hope so, I don’t want to sound rude and mean). Thank u for being such an honest, reliable person, and I will definitely watch your future videos! Byee! ❤❤❤

I genuinely don't really notice Billie's tics but maybe that's because i'm so focused on what she's saying. Yet I do recall her mentioning she has Tourette's in just 1 or 2 interviews. It doesn't change how much I like her and I most certainly never thought to doubt her about it. ♡ I actually have a lot of jaw problems, swallowing issues and what I think are neck tics. Although I havent been told I have tourette's. I'm not self diagnosising but I super appreciate the education. I just might mention it to a medical professional because my neck is really bothering me. Other people have been noticing my attacks too.

Love the vid! I always learn so much from you madame. Thank you for sharing this information. I hate that anyone feels they have to hide/suppress…but I doubt Billy would’ve gotten so big had she been totally upfront about it - OR she would’ve gotten big for all the wrong reasons and not based on her talent. So I can see why she hid it for so long.

About the tic loop, that happens with me and two of my friends, as we are all autistic and have tourrette's, so our stimming triggers each others tics, and tics trigger tics, to the point we have to walk away from each other 😥

I never knew she had Tourette's. That's interesting to know. My uncle has it, but his tics are mild. He has the eye twitches and neck jerks. I've never noticed any other tics from him other than those tho. It was nice coming across your channel, it's very nice to learn about the diff levels of it and that someone out there who isn't faking it is actually informing people to spread the awareness of it. Everyone should be true to themselves and true to others. I hate it how people try to act like they have any type of disorder when they don't. I have bipolar, borderline personality disorder, anxiety and depression. It affected me for many years, but in the past 4-5yrs i have worked really hard at improving my mentality and learning to talk myself down before i get to that high point, so when people try to fake having emotional disorders when they don't, it really bothers me because they don't truly know what it's like to suffer from them. Thank you for being an inspiration and staying true to who you are

It’s overwhelmingly apparent from the footage that she’s not only working really hard to suppress when she’s in interviews, but that she’s also developed a specific type of body language and public persona to compensate and make her tics blend better. It’s actually really impressive. And I feel for her. Being a public figure is enough of a nightmare without the added stress of ts.

I don’t have Tourette’s. However, when I was younger (around 3-8 years old), I had tics that would come and go, and were almost like a habit, such as making an involuntary grunting/ throat clearing noise, which was one of the earlier ones, then a sort of clicking pattern with my mouth with my throat and teeth, and then the last two I remember were basically excessive blinking, and clicking my right ankle joint, sometimes causing me to trip when walking. None of these happened together, and were all involuntary, and now, at 14, I haven’t had any in years. Does anyone know why this happened?

Do you ever sometimes cover up the rice tux by replacing the word “rice” with something else? By the way, I like that you pointed out how “I’ve got rice” is specific to you and no one else. It just goes to show that yes, there are bound to be extreme and subtle examples given how much of the population has Tourette’s. The same goes for any disability, both internal/neurological and physical.

My tics are most of the time very subtle like Billie's. The neck and face jerking and the facial twitching, shoulder shrugging is a big one. When I'm having a really bad tic day, I hit myself in the chest, make hand jesters, or say whole phrases. Like one time I said "please don't hit me!" Very loud to my friend in the middle of a normal conversation in a quite coffee shop. Those are the more noticeable, but most of the time people just assume I had a "shiver" or something. Edit:dumb spelling cause I got square brain and can't type lol

I have no opinion on Billie, either way. But fakers usually hope people notice the things they're faking... it's kind of the purpose. So this argument doesn't make sense.

On the way you said TS has a wide variety of presentations, my tourettes is basically gone for weeks at a time and then its so severe I can’t go out in public because of how loud and obvious it is. I’ve been to many doctors who’ve all come to the same conclusion and I’m definitely not faking, but i still have imposter syndrome. Never fakeclaim, it hurts way more than it could ever help.

I’ve had tics since I was little, but was never diagnosed with Tourette’s. I was told it was because of my Autism. My meds also suppress them. But when I started watching Billie’s tics I started replicating them and not on purpose but then I started gaslighting myself into believing that I was faking it 😭 i has no idea that people with tics tend to replicate other people’s tics until recently. I now do the head jerking things whenever I don’t take my meds (I forget to take them sometimes). I used to snort or gulp but I would suppress it as much as I could because people (usually family members) would tell me it was annoying 🙄 it’s always been facial tics for me, but now it’s mainly the head jerks and scrunching my nose. Sometimes my eyes will twitch really quickly but it usually only happens one or twice within seconds and then it doesn’t happen for a while. I’m glad Billie came out about it to clear the air and spread a little awareness 💕 she is such an inspiration.
@charliecat2948 Жыл бұрын
Autism does directly cause tics. Tics can be as a result of a disorder that is more common with autistic people but not as a result of autism it’s self.
@ThimbleFox3502 жыл бұрын
Tics can be associated with things other than tourette's like anxiety and PTSD though, tourette's is just a tic-disorder but many people experience tics

Billie's tics and there's one viral video of tics few years ago, helps me to atleast know the name of things that somewhat look like what I've been experiencing since I was little kid. I'm in my mid 20s now. I didn't get it properly diagnosed as it getting better as I get older. I'm now able to try "hiding" it, though hiding it causing me to hurt my own neck T_T So now I rarely hide it. My tics used to be: head will turn to left, while my lower jaw turn right, and my both eyes look upper right. Though it happened in a quick few seconds, it hurts sometimes. Now, it just my head turning. I hope more awareness about this to be spread, especially some people thought tic is only the cursing tics. Thank you for the great content.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant or not, but I think her eyes going wide isnt a tic, i think its her reaction to ticking, like, shes getting annoyed by them. I pull a similar face when i start to get annoyed by stuff. I have tics, though I dont get annoyed by them too much unless they're inappropriate or when I'm playing online games (if people hear certain tics, they often replicate it, which triggers it more. It's not always intended, some people just think I'm singing or playing around but some people will very much realise what's happening and do it on purpose)

I'm curious what it feels like to suppress a tic?.... I might have a nerve contion (dr still figuring out what I have) and my neck and arm as I say twitch randomly, more when I'm stressed but when I'm at work or out for a day I do my best to not have a random head jerk and everytime it feels like someone poured water down the back of my neck or my arm depending on what I felt was coming...
