Girl with Tourette's Reacts to Lewis Capaldi at Glastonbury 2023

Hi everyone. I wanted to talk about Lewis Capaldi today, since he's been in the media a lot for the struggles he's been having with his Tourette's & tics. I mainly made this video to react to Lewis Capaldi's Glastonbury 2023 performance and to see first hand what the hype was about, but in the end this video ends up being me thanking Lewis Capaldi for being a role model for people with Tourette's. He's helping normalize it which is absolutely fantastic, and I'm so proud of him & I'm a big fan!! THANK YOU LEWIS CAPALDI!!!

As a girl with Tourette's, I would love to spread awareness and education about my disorder, as I feel it is quite misunderstood in today's society. The media has made it out to be a swearing disorder only, which is far from true. I hope this video will educate you on Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders! Life with Tourettes can be difficult, but just know that we're the same as everyone else...except for the fact we tic like clocks! (:

My son and I love Lewis Capaldi, and my son used to really like Billie Eilish, and my son is an amazing little singer, so when I told him about Lewis and Billie having TS too he thought that was pretty cool and gave him more hope for his future. I love this guy, he seems like such a genuine, good , human being.

This made me tear up. Very emotional. It is already stressful to have ts. I can’t imagine being in public on stage and having bad ticks. Amazing bravery. Obviously his fans love him deeply, and i hope he feels that support.

I definitely just cried. Don’t have Tourette’s, I have generalized and social anxiety, so I’m more likely than not to shut down or literally run away when in the spotlight in front of a crowd. He’s so talented and so strong to bravely show that talent despite his disability, and the crowd shows so much love. Very lovely video, thanks for sharing.

I've learnt something new. Lewis Capaldi has Tourettes Syndrome. I've not listened to many of his songs, but after this video I'm more in love with the man than any other, and I'll definately give more of his songs a listen. Thank you for enlightening me about Lewis and his struggles Carly. I love your content and how you try your very best to raise awareness for people with Tourettes Syndrome. Interesting story about someone close to me with Tourettes. In her early twenties she was working as a waitress. When at a table asking a man what he would like to order.....he kind of stumbled on his words and then said "Man it is like I have tourettes or something". This wonderful young lady who was at ease with her Tourettes responded to him ...."I do have Tourettes". At first he laughed but then realized she was not joking. After her shift she was sitting at the counter eating before she went home when this man approached her and apologized and said he learned an important lesson that our words can hurt people and we should be careful what we say.

i love lewis capaldi hes so amazing. its very upsetting to watch him go through this and it is also so heartwarming to see all the support from his fans. i have tics but havent gotten a daignosis and seeing the way so many people have supported him helps me realise that people are quite accepting and tourettes is becoming more 'normal' and accepted.

I've seen this video last year and it's truly heartbreaking, he's a very talented person and watching him like that is sad. But it's also making my faith in humanity brought back in a way, it's amazing to see the crowd being so supportive. Beautiful acknowledgement Carley, as the son of a Father with TS [ he just turned 86 last weekend ] I have particular compassion for sufferers of this syndrome . I was teased mercilessly as a teenager back in the 1970s by school, mates? because of my Dad's condition. I realised back then that his ticks were directly related to the amount of stress he was under, generally at work. Since his retirement many years ago his ticking has reduced significantly to now there are just a few little ticks that he does which is a blessing. My son who’s 8 has similar symptoms to Lewis. Coughing lots of sounds in his throat! I took him to see Lewis c and it set my sons off big time! I felt so guilty even though he loved every second seeing him I didn’t think seeing Lewis on stage would effect him as I’m still learning. He has a place in my heart for being real! Also for going out his way for a young girl who sadly died and sang at her funeral. He is amazing

i think its so interesting that, while for you, singing/performing almost completely erases your tic activity, for him he experiences flare-ups while doing the same! just goes to show how differently tourettes can present in people. there needs to be more research done!!
