Okay so I’m just gonna say this real fast... I WISH YOU WERE MY FATHER. My dad calls me greedy, a manipulator, and purposely says stuff like “hey ma- I mean girl!”. He has toxic masculinity, and believes that I owe him for using his electricity, water, and for eating any food he’s provided me with, so basically when he gets mad he takes away my food, water, and roof over my head. But you have the good type of masculinity, like “this is my manly power tool, want to help me fix this thing?” Not the, “Get me the ladder, hand me this, Don’t touch that!” That most men do. I feel like I missed a large part of what masculinity is. It was to the point where I didn’t know what men did other than yell and wear plaid shirts, so that’s what I did. I still wear the shirts, over printed shirts, but after I saw Jamie, and some other trans men, I realized I could be *me* and trans at the same time. So I’m getting a shorter haircut soon, I’ve had an undercut man bun for a while now, and I feel like an actual men, not some fat cis guy that yells at his kids and is unaccepting. So like, thanks and stuff please come build a shelf or watch a sport or something obnoxiously manly with me cause you were more of a dad through a screen than my father was. (I prefer building, but if you like manly football (?) we can do that too) *parties under rainbow lights*

Everytime someone (it always ends up being men saying this to me) tells me that "Transgender" or "Dysphoria" doesn't exist I like to say "Imagine going to the washroom this morning to shave your beard because you haven't in awhile and you look in the mirror to see that there's no beard to shave. Now you look a little lower and notice that you have breasts. But... You're a man. You were born a boy and grew up to be a man. Then why...? Now imagine that you went downstairs to get breakfast and your parent or spouse said "hello [insert obviously female name here]"...But that's not my name... That's a woman's name. I'm not a women." It usually shuts them up and in fact some people have even started crying because they didn't realize how painful it is to deal with that kind of thing.

This, and add on that for years you don't understand why you feel wrong. You know that you don't like the breasts. You know that you stare at square jawlines and beards and wish they were yours. Every so often you think of how it would "be funny" if the physical changes in girls just didn't happen to you. Your jaw drops at bass and tenor singers, not in awe, but in jealousy. You know you're different and know that your thoughts are "wrong" to some standard you don't remember making, but you just _don't know why_ until you discover what "transgender" is. Until you learn about their experiences and learn the terms and realize... just how similar their anecdotes and your old thoughts are. At least, that's how it was for me. And I'm "lucky," I guess? That I figured myself out just after turning 18. I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to only figure it out after 30, 40, 60 years with your feet on the ground.
