DBZ was an inspiration to modern popular manga and anime like Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer, One Piece, Sailor Moon and the list goes on and on, this single moment was instrumental in popularizing anime all over the globe, the SSJ transformation music, the lighting, water fall, landslide sound effects and all were epic, this moment inspired people to stand up for truth, justice and peace that Goku symbolized against tyranny that Frieza symbolized, all the cruel things Frieza did destroying planets and innocent civilizations without a care thinking he is above everyone to killing Goku's childhood best friend Krillian forced Goku into this epic moment and finally 19:24 Frieza's face shows a death mask realizing he is finally about to pay for his crimes and his era of tyranny is coming to an end as Goku is taking him down!

Great video. DB Z introduced me into the genre. I was so close to visiting Japan one point myself. I had experience with MoCap and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity to visit the place that inspired artists like Toriyama San. As a teen I never realised I’d already witnessed anime peak 😵🔥🥵 There were no proper cams on phones in 2005 when I watched this for the first time ever… I saw it on Cartoon Network(I’m from India) So I use to take snaps with a canon camera that was lying around my house without being used much. I still have those snaps almost 20yrs old when goku went nuts after krillin died. That was pure joy to me 😍 But it’s good that there were so many other things that got close to peak ❤ Ssj1 truly is my peak anime moment

It goes unnoticed but this episode shows how strong Tien yamcha and chiaotzu have gotten training with King Kai. The series never says this but my theory is all of them learn the kaioken technique and created their own version of the kaio-ken technique without all of the damage it does to their bodies. The only difference in their own technique they practice training with an Goku and King Kai's original kaioken is the red aura also their technique doesn't seem to be a multiplier like the kaio-ken. For example Goku can multiply the kaioken times 2 to be 20 at the maximum output his body can handle. Is there a technique seem to only multiply their base level.

I know this is amazing as an adult but literally words can’t describe how jaw droppingly epic this was as a kid. Me and my brother used to RUSH home after school to watch toonami and see the next episode during the Frieza saga. Goku turning super saiyan is just one of the most epic moments in any show/movie ever. The rest of dragon ball z is great but nothing tops this in my opinion. In fact i think they went overboard with the transformations but that’s another conversation lol.

I was 20 at my friends house when this aired. Never saw DBZ before this episode. His kids were watching while we were in the room talking about something else.
