A few small corrections. The song is from 1997. Rammstein has been around for 30 years and is currently the best life show on wheels. Du hast means you have. Du hasst, sounds the same, means you hate. The meaning only becomes clear from the context. It's all a game with words. Which only very few people realize. Till doesn't always sing "Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu sein?" means “Will you be faithful until death do you part...”... Once it says, “"Willst du bis zum Tod der Scheide..." means Will you until the death of the vagina... It sounds very similar. But that's Till's humor and Rammstein's way of provoking.

The interesting part is: Rammstein, a German band, played in a sold out venue in Paris, France. With the audience being predominantly French, yet all singing and chanting in German perfectly on point. That's the power of this band: it overcomes a centuries long rivalry and even hatred towards each other, and let's each other enjoy music together. Agreed, France and Germany have been working together for the last 70 years pretty darn well. But still, it took multiple extremely bloody wars to finally arrive at this cooperation level. And that's the most awesome aspect of the band and the audience. As so many people said: "Du hast" simply means "You have" whereas "Du hasst" = "You hate". This is a so-called homophone; ie something sounding identical but spelled differently that needs to receive its meaning by context. The entire first part is a build-up using the German grammatical sentence structure: "Du" "Du has(s)t" "Du has(s)t mich." This translates to either "You" "You have" "You have me" or to "You" "You hate" "You hate me". Only when the German sentence reaches "Du hast mich gefragt" does the meaning becoming clear and concise. I know that the English grammatical structure doesn't work that way, but just for the intents of this song it would be "You have me asked" so "You have asked me". Which is meant to be popping the question of marriage. This is followed by a very empathetic: "Und ich hab nichts gesagt!" "And I haven't said anything." the entire song's chorus is a spoof of the traditional wedding vows recited by a pastor in a German wedding ceremony. A similar version can be found in the Anglican church even today. The pastor asks "Willst du, bis der Tod Euch scheide, treue sein für alle Tage?" In English: "Will you be faithful for all days until Death do you part?" This is followed by "Willst du, bis der Tod Euch scheide, sie lieben auch an schlechten Tagen?" In English: "Will you love her even on bad days, until Death do you part?" However the German version places death before the faithful or the love. This opens up the possibility of simply changing the grammar a tiny bit to create the line: "Willst du bis zum Tod der Scheide sie lieben auch an schlechten Tagen?" In English: "Will you love her even on bad days until the death of the vagina?" With "bad days" being either simply bad days, or a bad menstrual period in German. Multiple potential meanings. The problem here is that the verb "scheiden" means "to part" or "to split" which is conjugated to "scheide", whereas the noun" die Scheide" in German means "the vagina". Again, the only difference is the majuscule 'S' in "Scheide" in the noun vs the minuscule 's' in the verbe "scheide" can't be discerned vocally. So in this case the article in German determines the exact meaning here which is 'vagina'. The ambiguity is very definitely deliberate. All of these questions are all answered by ALL the band members with a shouted "NEIN!" = "NO!" Most Rammstein songs have multiple meanings and interpretations with Rammstein only extremely rarely certifying a specific interpretation and meaning as valid. In most cases Rammstein stay utterly silent on any interpretations even when asked directly by reporters. Rammstein LOVES to provoke reactions and create a spectacle. The band really takes anyone right out of their comfort zones.

This song is from 1997, not the early 2000s. Probably more americans heard about Rammstein, than germans did. 😂 They sold out Madison Square Garden multiple times within minutes. And yes, they were on heavy rotation on MTV since the 90ies.

Just in case someone is interested: There is an impressive "behind the scenes" video that shows the complexity of how such big concerts/performances of Rammstein get planned, prepared, what needs to be considered, who is involved - all the smallest details (e.g. organising parking space for the trucks, getting enough electric power, catering for the crew, getting fireworks approved by local authorities, etc.) It's about one hour long - but really worth watching... Song came out in 1998 . From their second album Sehnsucht. They exist since 1994. Their did an early tour in the States but they got arrested for indecent behaviour. Singer and keyboardist simulated sodomy onstage while performing the song Buck Dich. In 2010 they performed in Madison Square Garden a sold out show , tickets were sold in minutes.

So, if you're going to have more of Rammstein, try this : Ramm - like rum, the drink s - like sh in shit t - normal ei - like eye n - normal. It's not : -teeen, not Einsteeen, not Frankensteeen. It's a different language, the letters are not pronounced as in English. Try listening Rammlied or Ramm4, they're pronouncing it as it should be. Then I'll subscribe.

As for the music, I've never taken it very seriously. The first time I heard them I thought they sounded like one of Al Jourgensen's side projects, and nothing I've heard since has moved the needle for me. About the allegations, I honestly don't know enough to have an informed opinion. I guess I'd have to put my faith in the German police. If I remember correctly they declined prosecution. That in no way means that Til didn't/doesn't behave like a spoiled douche, just that he isn't a rapist.

It was found in court that journalists misrepresented statements made by women who all described any sex as consensual. It was a massive smear campaign and one of the news outlets is under investigation for forgery and fraud relating to their misuse of affidavits in their reporting on Till.

Hello, to give a somewhat informed review, you must translate the lyrics, appreciate the writing of the texts and their dramaturgy which are often transgressive, but so interesting and unusual in musical circles. In addition, the music (very original, with a keyboard player in the "electro" style in return for very metallic guitars) is constructed in perfect harmony with the texts which reveals an always perfect narration. 400,000 people sang in German with Till Lindemann in eight different stadiums in the USA during the 2022 tour. Rammstein is an artistic phenomenon and also for many other reasons that would take too long to develop here. Does all this seem to escape you!?

They did not prosecute as there was zero evidence to support any claims. There was an investigation and German police asked for witnesses to come forward to support what was being claimed and nobody did. The girl who said she was drugged by Till - the only drugs found in her system were drugs she was taking herself. She was never drugged at the show as she claimed.

Well it shows that youre not well informed because rape was never even an accusation. If you read about rape than you know youve already got the news from somebody who has taken the accusations and made it into something else. The first thing that happened was a woman at the Vilnius concert woke up with a bruised body and a big headache but she didnt remember anything so she just assumed somebody had put drugs into her drinks at the backstage party of Till. However looking back theres lots of IG stories and versions from other girls that were also going with her that showed that this woman was out of control, constantly screaming during the concert and also throwing herself at the fence which probably explains her bruises and later on it got revealed she wasnt just drinking alcohol but also using drugs and thats probably the end of that. Then other articles came up that were probably partly made up because this became huge news and undeniably lots of youtubers and publications made a lot of money with this story. What is true is that this is Tills own backstage party, not the bands and his manager was recruiting young women with which he wanted to have sex with. Those women had to be of legal age, they made sure of that and they had to be willing. Many women on twitter confirmed that if they told Till "no" then he would respect that, so the stories that came out by anonymous women mind you, were an uncomfortable experience with Till but they never told him "no" or made any signs of not wanting it. While all this shitstorm was going on, it was notable that nobody took legal action despite the accusations partly being of illegal nature such as putting drugs into drinks during the backstage party. The Berlin state prosecutors started investigating themselves due to public interest, but not because somebody took legal actions. Now way sooner than most anticipated, The Berlin state prosecutors concluded their investigation with a very clear verdict: theres virtually no evidence for any legal wrongdoings. None of the supposed victims came forward to the prosecutors and the legal verdict is very very clear since there wasnt even enough evidence for a court case. Now as a long time Rammstein fan, Till is an odd person for sure. Believe it or not but hes a rather shy guy and the entirety of Rammstein arent very public people, so while you heard the stories of some anonymous women, Till and Rammstein virtually said nothing which is probably the smartest thing to do from a legal perspective, theyve probably been told to do just that from their lawyers but it also means we will never know if some of these stories are entirely made up or even partly made up because at the end of the day its odd to have these accusations so publicly causing a huge shitstorm and yet no legal actions were pursued, thats more of a witch hunt than anything else. Till can seem like a sick man sometimes but from what we genuinely know publicly, he has and had no intention to force any woman into doing something she doesnt agree to. Almost all women who went to his backstage parties will tell you they had a great time. Sure you can find it weird that a 60 year old man wants Sex with young women but you can gladly go to Pattaya beach in Thailand and youll see plenty of old men from all over the west doing the exact same
