That doesn’t mean he’s the problem. Women usually divorce bcuz of the man’s physical looks vs his money (he’s not hot but has enough money for her to profit from divorce). Fun fact: Dr. Delony is actually using a counseling technique on him. It’s when you hit the pendulum all the way on the other side and say “Leave the relationship now” and see if they give you push back/ what rebuttal they give you OR if they start to agree with you. It clarifies the answer. I learned this in my psych class plus Dr. john has revealed this method on his show several times and it’s worked. He’s trying to get a response out of him, that’s John’s main goal.

Finding out that the girlfriend owns her house & he is living there in the last 10 seconds of the call? That’s a HUGE fail on the hosts’ part. Just because someone says they’re making good financial decisions doesn’t mean it’s true. But we will never know because ZERO financial questions were asked. Maybe the girlfriend doesn’t want to discuss finances with this guy because he’s a free-loader. It’s easy to be critical of someone paying a bill late when you aren’t the one paying the mortgage. Who knows? But John went all in on the “this relationship is OVER” immediately. I thought this was a financial call, not a counseling session.

The caller is the problem. He keeps blaming the GF, but he's not including her in a financial plan. He's *telling* her how it's going to be and she's pushing back. Instead of approaching this as a couple, he's trying to dictate to her like he's her dad. That's why she is not on board. She doesn't feel like half of a couple. She feels like she's being treated like an irresponsible child. I don't know if the relationship is over, but he needs to drop his "I know better" attitude and talk to her like her opinion matters. The hosts should have offered him a free spin through Financial Peace University. Have him ask her, "this is important to me. Will you do this with me?"
