Most guys aren't much different, even though we pretend to be. The right outfit(s) can boost your confidence to the point where, you eventually feel confident in whatever you're wearing. It doesn't matter what you look like, only what you *_feel_* like. Just ask my overweight, but *_confident_* (and hilarious) best friend who dated some of the hottest girls in our school.

My fiancé & I met when I was 16 years old, that day I was wearing a sundress (I had just left a summer wedding)... well we didn’t talk or see each other again until I was 27! when he recognized me he said, “Oh! You’re Maria with the sundress” over a decade later and he remembered me as if a week had passed. I will always advocate for sundresses!

Lol, awe! That's adorable :P My husband and I are both in the Army so for months he only saw me in my uniform. He thought I was really annoying but then he saw me in civilian clothes: that day I wore skinny jeans, and tank top over a "regular" bra as opposed to my daily sports bra. Once he saw I had boobs and it registered that I was a woman not just another Soldier who happened to be female, he became interested in me.

Everyone dresses in pajama pants or sweatpants at my university. Don’t get me wrong, they look very comfy, but I don’t think I’d be able to focus if I was that comfortable, I wouldn’t be in the right mentality. Dressing femininely and being a "soft girlie" was something that I directly attribute to better treatment in the work place. I was "soft" and dressed femininely and modestly, but in dresses and skirts, while still being competent and confident. But having worked in several male dominated fields, I noticed that I was treated differently than the two other women that worked in the same office. One dressed provocatively and acted a bit more ditsy, the other was super harsh and masculine in a take charge type of manner. I found men treating me well, being gentleman, chivalrous, going out of their way to avoid swearing in my presence because they knew I didn't like it, stood up for me in situations when I was being talked down to or treated unfairly, and generally ensured that I was taken care of. I know it's not always the case, but being soft and feminine and having respect in yourself definitely elicits a very specific and gentlemanly response from the guys.

Even in my 40s, wearing a sundress and subtle jewelry, I had a guy circling back to me in a hardware store with the apparent inability to resist telling me that I looked nice and that so few ladies make the effort these days. He was at least 20 years my senior. It was a genuine, non-sexual compliment that reminded me of the principle of the impact we can make on those around us when we also dress for other’s benefit and not just our own comfort. It becomes a gift to others and yourself. Someone putting effort into their presentation (whatever the style) shows a respect for themselves and others. It’s always attractive. Side note: Dresses are WAY more comfortable than pants/shorts.

I was exactly the same as you Brett! I only understood femininity to be performative, ditzy, and weak, so I went the opposite, cut all my hair short, didn’t wear make up, and wore loose masculine-silhouette clothes all the time. This was from when I was 18 to 21. Then I read the book “captivating“ by John and Staci Eldridge, and it convicted my heart that femininity was about the beauty and strength of being a nurturing, gentle, deeply caring, sincere woman who unapologetically loves beauty, for the sake of beauty. The Eldridge’s pointed out though that a lot of women become very masculine presenting because all of those things feel vulnerable. I totally resonated with all that. So I started growing my hair out long again, wearing some make up, shaving again, and then tentatively wearing feminine, curve revealing clothes, and then dresses and flowy skirts. It feels so liberating!! I feel like my true self when I allow myself to care about beauty, and being beautiful. Also, literally six months after I started transformation, I met my husband, and he snapped me up immediately lol. Partly because I was Christian, conservative, AND choosing to take the time to look beautiful and put together, instead of wear leggings and hoodies all the time! It has been the greatest transformation for me to embrace my feminine side and my love of beauty and being beautiful. I’m 24 now, And I feel like my transformation is mostly complete lol. My hair is down to my middle back and softly wavy, I take the time to smell good and do a little make up, and I have a wardrobe I love that has a lot of dresses and skirts in it! They are especially a saving grace in the heat of Houston Texas. Love your stuff, Brett!

none of this makes any sense. men have been loving beauty since the dawn of time. it’s not a female thing. look at paintings, architecture, literature. the difference is that their relationship with beauty is to create art that is bigger than themselves while women’s relationship with beauty (largely) is to objectify their own bodies and perform for the male gaze. and that male gaze likes “performative, ditzy and weak” so yeah, the earlier version of yourself was largely correct. the concept of femininity in our society is something we can look at objectively. the whole “but my personal understanding of femininity” thing is kinda dumb to me. we know what it is. (hope you understand what i mean and don’t hit me with “are you saying i’m weak and dumb if i like dresses?” or something lol)

As a guy, I understand where you're coming from. In my early 20's I worked at a KFC store, and one of the young women I worked with who was in high school at the time, was just such a beautiful creature, she would melt your heart. But there was on thing about her, she wore way too much makeup, and it made her look like a circus clown, which took away from her natural beauty. And as a guy I kept my thoughts to myself, not only because of the respect I had for her, but I was in a lower end management position. Catch 22, oh yeah. I was already on thin ice with the franchisee, so I had to watch my P's, and Q's. Anyway from a guy's perspective, it's not always easy to say anything without getting into some sort of trouble.

@@lmr1049- interesting perspective. The only thing I disagree with is your derogatory description of how women often use beauty to beautify themselves. I don’t see why that’s wrong. Particularly since both men and women enjoy the result of a truly beautiful woman. Women were made more beautiful creatures than men, so it makes sense that when men love beauty, they create it elsewhere, but when _women_ love true beauty, they maximize their own. Nothing wrong with that.

To me, as a man, the idea of what it is for a woman to be feminine isn't necessarily about their appearance. I mean sure, it's nice to look at a lovely woman with their hair done up and a nice dress and all that, but I can find a woman sitting around in old sweats and mussy hair with no makeup just as appealing. To me, being feminine is about your attitude, the way you carry yourself, and how you act and treat others around you. It's not even hard. You don't have to train yourself to act a certain way. Just... be a woman. That's literally all it takes.

My totally personal view - don't like lots of make-up especially false lashes (unless evening date, maybe), don't like tattoos although if it's pretty and colour, maybe, like well kept hands (not claws) and no swearing - really not bothered by anything else. Oh and Sundresses - generally nice colours, always a hint of flesh and possibilities. Women look so much better in bright colours.

Exactly. You hit the mark 100%. Women really shot themselves in the foot trying to be men. They eventually will realize that being a man does NOT usually come naturally, even to most men, which is why most hot women usually go for the top 20% of men, because the rest, unfortunately and honestly, stay in the boy mindset throughout their entire lives. Even when born as a biological "male", most men do not become true Men, they become overly attached to the hedonistic pleasures enjoyed when one is typically a child under the age of 15 and never grow out of that mentality. To become a real Man, a REAL Man, you have to eventually come to realize that pleasure is, for the most part, pointless and unfulfilling. A real man becomes a real man once he comes to term with the fact that everything meaningful in life comes with great sacrifice, great pain, great anguish and torment and years of seemingly pointless torture. Then they realize that true meaning actually comes from the strife that life throws at you, welcoming all the nasty issues in life no matter how depressing or pointless. Why? Because everything that holds any meaning in life is waiting for you at the bottom of hell. Why have humans made so many stories about a brave, young man going off into the unknown to battle demons and gods and monsters beyond your worst nightmares? Why does the story of Rapunzel exist? Just in case men one day forget this truth in life. You want that hot blonde trapped at the top of the tower? Gotta climb the tower and defeat the scary dragon first, bro. Or you could settle for the ugly ones at the bottom that no one really valued enough to literally put at the top of a tower, guarded by a fucking dragon. Take your pick, no wrong answers, the only wrong answer is the one you set for yourself. If you're okay living a life of average mediocrity, you are totally free to do so. But don't complain about the lousy pay and the fat, hairy wife. Its what you chose, after all. Especially if you knew this truth coming into the story. Women really got so spoiled that they forgot that they were privileged all along lol. They don't have to deal with any of the shit, just gotta wait at the finish line and be as pretty and feminine as her mother taught her. Not sure why they thought there was anything wrong with that role. Yall are literally the reason men go through the process of becoming men. If yall didn't exist, we wouldn't have a reason to improve and become men in the first place. Each gender has its role, and each role has its pros and cons, like everything else. Now that is a fact of life. The grass is not greener on the other side, its just as green as your side. Just gotta learn to accept what life gives you and accept it with a smile, cus that is all you can ultimately do. Either get buttfucked by life and hate it, or get buttfucked anyway and learn to love it. Then you die, happily ever after, the end.

It kind of cracks me up that this has become a ‘new trend’ when sundresses have been around a long time. I’ve been wearing sundresses for at least 10 years. Welcome ladies!! Growing up a daddy's girl, but in the tomboy way, I can confirm that all I crave now is to find my way back to femininity at almost 21 yrs old. It took my boyfriend stating that he wanted to treat me like a lady for me to start realizing just how masculine I behaved in my everyday habits. Wearing dresses and jewelry never made me feel pretty. But, as I begin to dress more in this fashion, he hypes me up and makes me feel more like a woman everyday. I definitely feel motivated as well as see my feminine instincts begin to kick in as my barriers come down. Having a man treat me like a woman makes the masculine melt away. Please do more content like this for both men and women, Brett. It's encouraging!

Men love their women to look feminine. My husband and I are Australian and lived in Champaign Urbana for 6 months. The hotel we first stayed was hosting a fire fighters convention. We went to a bar with some of them and I wore a simple, long black dress. The only skin showing was my arms. The bar was filled with college girls and they were wearing jeans or jean shorts. The firefighters really appreciated that I was dressed up and commented on my femininity. It was 1998.

The observation that sundresses are “happy” is more significant than mentioned. Emily W King recently released a short where she reacts to another short about an informal poll of men. The question was, what do you find most attractive in a woman? The answers were almost universally “she has to be happy “. Emily explains this quite effectively. You should go look at her short.

Half and half. We are social creatures. My husband said what attracted him first (as a long term Partner) was my "infectous happiness". But he makes me so happy and I am soo much happier with him than I would ever be alone. Fighting with him is better than having neutrality with everyone else (because it is fruitful and respectful) as social creatures we make each other happy. The Problem today is not the expectation to gain happiness from a relationship, it's this attitude of "Amuse me, minion"

I think it's always great to break out of comfort zones and try something different - sort of play 'dress up'; see how it it feels; experiment and give things a chance. That said, at the end of the day, I don't think you're going to by happy if you feel like you're wearing a costume. I remember hearing about a study (or something of the sort) about men favoring women who dress more appropriately that displays their feminine side over sexy clothing. It was done with the intention of understanding who men would want to marry, not just want to sleep with. In other words, to all the women complaining that men only objectify them, just wear more appropriate clothing. It’s honestly enough to make us be interested.

I don't know. men can fantasize over anything. Even when you're wearning an oversized hoody, that can be sexualized. I don't think a mere change in dress can make someone 'not creep'. If the person doesn't do that, they won't do it regardless of what you wear. On the other hand, you can wear the most elegant, non-erotic type of clothing and if a man is a creep, they would still fantasize you. It's not about the dress but the person.

I'm not so sure about that. The times I've been harassed the most (and I mean once pushed up against a wall, have had grabby hands and lewd comments) have been in sundresses. For several years I worked as a costumer and strolling actor at things like Ren Faires and reenactment events and honestly, even in full corset and wench wear, I had fewer issues. (To be fair, while working I was usually either walking about with armed pirates, vikings, knights and elven lords - or open carrying a long blade myself that after a few stage fights 'protecting' myself and showing I knew how to use it - might have helped with respectful distances 😉😉) Maybe it's because I'm sadly naturally really busty but I've always tried to make sure the dresses I wear are modest while still feminine (my husband rather likes that), even sew them myself to accomplish less 'breasts on display' that store bought dresses are, that's when I've had men be the rudest. I'm no staggering beauty (that's me in the pic, I'm average and content with that) so it's not like men are just panting after me. But in those floaty dresses I've had more creeps than even pirate queen kit (although, again, open carrying of 3ft+ blade....) so it might just be a case of where you are and when. The crazy thing is, I've had men make comments about how easy a dress like that is to take off a woman - with my mountain of a growling husband standing right next to me, holding my hand. There are a shockingly large number of men walking about with death wishes it would seem.

As a tomboy for 50+ yrs my wardrobe was oversized tee shirts, jeans and sneakers (all dark colors) My husband has only seen me in a dress 4 times and they were all shapeless dark things. I have to admit I also used these large loose sweats as a way to hide how I didn’t care and let myself go and gained a LOT of weight. This past year I made the choice to recapture my femininity …lost 54 lbs so far. I threw out all the sweat suits and oversized tee shirts. I bought colorful fitted shirts, cute sandals, still have jeans - but they fit correctly, and the craziest change…I began buying dresses. Sun dresses for every day wear, party dresses…for, well, for parties parties (in lieu of my usual black pants,oversized black shirt and flats I used to wear). I barely have any dark colors in my closet now and I do apply some makeup but I no longer leave my hair in the perpetual pony tail. To say my husband was shocked and pleased is an understatement. But the biggest compliment is how I feel about myself…I feel like a woman, still powerful but with soft feminine edges 😊

Thank you for making this video! As a tomboy for life, I’ve been reconnecting to my femininity in my early twenties, and wearing sundresses genuinely does flip a switch in my head. I carry myself differently. I get more done. I feel more confident and competent as a woman. As a side note, there is a measurable difference in how men treat me. It’s like it turns on the “chivalry” button in their head. But as for my own self, it’s like my appearance opens the door in my mind that helps me access that part of me. For me a huge key was realizing you can be feminine without being “girly”. I’m still not a hot pink lace kind of girl, I will never be “girly” but I truly enjoy feeling feminine and womanly.

Also, you can be feminine without being frilly and sparkly. I am a tomboy, but never identified as that, I was just me, and my parents let me be me. I have always been very confidently a woman and always wanted to be a mom and now I am a stay at home mom. But I have never felt super comfortable being too flashy or ornate. If my makeup is too heavy I don't feel like I look like myself. But I do love skirts, specifically long comfy skirts. I had my wedding dress custom made by a tailor I found (ended up being way cheaper), because I knew I wasn't going to find a dress I wanted. I ended up with a soft stretchy long white dress, with pockets, dress that still fits me while pregnant and even with thicker arms like I have now. I still use the dress to go to my temple and I plan on being buried in it. It is beautiful and it's so simple and 100% my style. You can be yourself and feminine.

After my own tough girl to soft girl journey, I've learned that a tumultuous life breeds hard women, but safety and security creates a soft gentle woman. It took 6 years with the first truly good man for me to see that effect but it has been wonderful. I don't need my "armor" anymore, and can finally let myself feel feminine. I think the solution for women and this boss babe Era is, making them feel safe. Edit: The "bear or a man" experiment going on that is infuriating men is a great example of what women are feeling right now about their safety out there. If they are acting out as some form of control, being permiscuous, or wanting to be chased but never commit, it's probably because they felt like their choices were taken from them at some point, and this is their way, albeit a poor one, of responding to that. Attraction to dad bods and family men is another example of women just wanting something nurturing and safe over "cool" or "alpha". They don't want to be controlled, they want to be nurtured, and they'll happily nurture back when in that environment. It's transformative.

@RhymeandRamblings I was one of those classic "always dominant in my environment so I want to be submissive in my relationship" kinds of people, but somehow that always translated into dating huge assholes, that usually ended up being violent assholes. I felt uncomfortable with the "nice guys", so I kept going back to that life style. It honestly took a year of just being single and doing the inner work. I sought out what was familiar to me, which meant that abusive relationships and the red flags that come with them seemed familiar, and less alarming, or at least, I ignored it more willingly. I needed to rewire my trauma brain, and teach it to be comfortable in safe places. I needed to get it off of the addiction it had to the dopamine and saratonin dump it got whenever I was in a high stress and upsetting situation. That part took the longest. During that year I met a really, REALLY nice guy, and I knew that if we dated then, I'd ruin it. I explained what I'd just gotten out of, and was honest that I needed time to be single and work on my own self, so that when I finally did date again, I wouldn't make my baggage some other guys problem. He was thankful for my honesty, and genuinely appreciative of the fact that I was working on myself. We stayed pretty close for that year, hanging out from time to time and just keeping things light. When I noticed myself feeling more secure, when I stopped feeling like I Needed to be with someone, when I could be alone and not feel upset or uncomfortable, and when I could have an honest conversation with myself about what I missed in the past as toxic behavior, I knew I could give dating a try again. I went on a few casual dates and quickly remembered how much dating sucks, and joked about it with that guy. He told me if we went out, I wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. 😏 The first five dates we went on all went to hell, nothing went as planned and they were the absolute, hands down, best dates I've ever had. The green flags were waving left and right, and before I knew it, we were dating. Here we are now, engaged and soon to be married. 6 years I've been on this journey of feeling safe again. By year three, I finally felt like I had no insecurities, no fear, and by year six, we're like an old married couple with how comfortable we are. I was always honest with him throught the journey, I always laid down my mental state, and my feelings, and he was always willing to make the tweaks and adjustments to how we communicated or acted to help about trauma triggers and issues. Before long, there were no triggers, there was no unsafe feeling behavior anymore, because he'd proven he was a safe person to be with. Put in the time, put in the work, and be raw and honest, and you'll see those walls crumble. I hope the absolute best for you and everyone on this same journey, because it honestly feels like coming home in the best way.

I used to wear more loose-fitting clothing (although not super oversized lol) because while my body was changing in puberty, my family (especially the women 🤨🤨) would always make comments about my body changes and me trying to “show off” my chest or bottom despite wearing a regular shirt and jeans, which led me to be uncomfortable in my own skin! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to tune them out lol, especially after seeing what they used to wear in the 80s/90s! What I wear I nowhere near as revealing! I’ve always worn modest clothing, I can’t change my anatomical features!

I suddenly realized I wanted to be more feminine after I went to a month-long discipleship program and someone told the staff they thought I was a lesbian. I had a very boyish haircut, wore a lot of grungy outfits, and my love language is physical affection. While I found it amusing they would think that, it also made me realize I wanted to present myself as more elegant and ladylike. I had the same mindset as Brett then-dressing feminine was either being an ultra-conservative bonnet wearer with no skin showing, or a lady of the night. Now I’m trying hard to develop my femininity in the way I dress and look.

@bygraceonly182
@bygraceonly182 6 ай бұрын
@@MagpieMalone discipleship is a word used in the Bible and Christian circles to talk about how we are students of Jesus. We are Jesus’s “disciples” as we follow and learn from Him. We “disciple” new believers to be more like Christ. A “discipleship” program is most likely in this case a class or group setting where people are learning more about the Christian life and how to be dedicated, active, followers or students of Jesus Christ. The “great commission” of Jesus was to make “disciples” and baptize them. We are to tell the world about His sacrifice on the cross. The payment for our sins against God was Jesus the perfect sinless Son of God. He died in the place of all sinners taking on the wrath of God the Father and He was buried and resurrected on the third day. Because of His sacrifice satisfying the wrath of God, we sinners can be forgiven and brought back into relationship with God. This is the good news His disciples were commissioned to tell the world and make new disciples. Hope this helps! ❤

I've been dressing feminine/romantic since I was 15 years old. I was previously a full on tom boy that HATED being feminine because I developed young and I was tall. I was 11 years old, 5'11 and looked like I was 18. I got cat called a lot so wanted to hide. It was only at 15 when I got brave enough to start wearing things I liked. As a woman, I think you are always going to get looked at, but you don't always have to acknowledge it or be bothered by it. If you want to wear feminine things, wear them! Start small and work your way up to whatever you want. I am now 31 and wear dresses every day. I feel more myself when I am in a dress. 11 year old me would faint to see the things I wear now, but also be happy as I loved pretty things. I just wasn't brave enough to wear them back then. I am ultra feminine and proud of it now 😂😊❤ But it definitely does take a bit to get used to people looking at you. I found it's mostly just admiring what I wear instead of getting creepy steres. If anyone reading this is interested in trying, go for it!

@@wyleecoyotee4252 In part it is ability feeling to act on instinct, rather than suppressing that instinct in service of some greater social goal. This is relatable for some, but not for others. The part I find more compelling is the simple power of generosity. Men want femininity, women want masculinity, for innate reasons. Emphasizing gender therefore becomes a subtle way to practice giving. And many are discovering that when you give generously, the other person gives generously back, trust is built, and possibilities expand.

@tradfluteman Femininity is not a requirement to act on instinct. Is instinct a super power or is it a tool for survival. Another survival tool is life experience and the ability to critically assess a situation. 'Femininity is a super power' is drivel directed by men onto women to suppress them. How's that for instinct..lol.

To dive a little deeper into the appeal of sundresses, I would say this: Sundresses, while covering a good amount of skin, still show off the arms and parts of the legs, gently teasing men. They're loose, so it looks good on a woman even if she's a bit chunkier, or uncomfortably thin. They look feminine, but not uptight, conservative but not hyper-conservative, girl-next-door but not strict church lady. In short, it's the ideal balance between traditional and modern feminine fashion styles.

I swear I'm a nice person, but when I grocery shop I'm deep in thought, doing math in my head to find the better deal, choosing which flowers will last and look nice together, planning meals based on the sales, etc. But if anyone speaks to me or a waves or asks about my dog (I use a wheelchair and my dog is trained to help me get around) I smile brightly because I'm aware of my face. 😂 Botox has helped, but if I'm thinking hard, I look mad. I literally can't help it. But if you say hi, you'll see my teeth. All this to say, if you think a girl is pretty but she looks like a bitch, just say hi or do the old school "afternoon ma'am," and you'll figure out if she's actually a bitch or if she's just thinking. 😂

Men are quite the different topic. Coming from a woman of 47, who always wears dresses: when men see a woman in a sun dress, their frontal lobe lights up and they want to have sex. While I’m not saying that’s bad - it’s clearly the same everywhere in the world and thus male inherent - I don’t see a lot of proposing going on. 😊 This is a love and leave culture. Those of us who don’t want to play, but rather want a forever relationship, are alone. Women have engaged with their masculine side for a variety of reasons, ONE of which is protection. A woman must protect herself, because men aren’t doing it. By the time people start marrying in their 30s, a woman has had to maintain this self-protection, consequently resulting in an established pattern difficult to reverse. This is not a criticism, and I am not pointing blame. Our society is really screwed up, and I’m pointing out facts. Regardless of who’s fault this is (pssst: everyone’s), I think the ones to reverse it will need to be men (with support from women). They will need to forgo instant gratification, and stop believing the lie that total lack of commitment and irresponsibility will make them happy. We often talk about evil feminism (I’m a first wave feminist who believes in equality under the law, and mutual respect and not this nonsense espoused now), but what about male responsibility? We need a little chat about that in conservative circles too. They should no more be the conservative victim than women should be the liberal one. Honest conversation, rather than finger-pointing (I recognize that isn’t being done here), will always lead to productivity and hopefully solutions. Fun video!

Well, as a Christian lady that doesn't wear makeup I don't get acknowledged for that. Many times a gut likes the look of make up that just looks natural and highlights ones better features

@@MichellesdesignsEtc There is some variation in their preferences. I was speaking from an average. Most women aren’t interested in average men. The next most desired preference is for a light use of makeup to give the face some color and to accent the eyes.

Honestly, I am coming out of my shell as well with this. For years, I have struggled with the "independent woman, girl boss" that I am so tired of seeing!!!! Even the little things right now, I am slowly letting go of such as my boyfriend helping me with my bags instead of me carrying them all on my own. You are right, it's a process and I think my elementary school me would freak out about it, but that girl has grown up and the feminine genius is here to stay! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

your fiance is correct. Sundresses just have a fun feeling to them. Seeing a girl wearing a sundress gives a joyous feeling. Also, they're very elegant
