I didn't leave the US before I had TWO Bank Accounts, with the Longest Expiration Date possible on the Cards. Travel Notice Set on Both Cards. Same with Two Credit Cards. Plus, I had a Month's Living Expenses sitting in my Wise Account, with that Card in-hand. Plus, I had practiced moving money from my Bank accounts to Each Other & into Wise. I may have messed up other things... But not access to funds.

Smart. One thing with Wise for me though is when I opened my account they said debit cards were 'paused' where I live. Not sure if that is a USA thing or a California thing. Still disappointing though. I can still use Xoom or Western Union though to wire direct from bank account. I am now looking into Remitly

Two quick points: 1) Any expat needs to have at least 2-3 cards from different banks in their own country. There are so any videos on this point 2) 500php is pretty much the standard taxi fare to/from Clark airport and Angeles City. It is probably a bit more than the meter but always the same, and turning right when leaving the airport is normally the fastest but also shortest way to walking street

Also beware the taxis that are parked in front of the late night clubs. They keep the taximeter running and hope that 1) the mark is too drunk to know it is already several hundred pesos/baht when jumping in, or 2) too distracted by the bird to notice the meter is several hundred pesos/baht , or 3) most likely, a combination of both.

You shouldn't need to open up new bank accounts to get another card. You should be able to have a debit card from your bank and can also sign up for a separate Visa card. You can also setup a sub savings account with an added card for it too. Most banks have this option. I have one bank that has 3 cards available to me. Then I can transfer money between accounts. Allowing me added access per day via ATM withdrawal. I also have another bank account from a separate bank for back up in case one of the banks has a mass issue. So I have 4 cards in total.

A word of caution, Scott, in case you decide to ask Scotia bank to send a new bank card directly to you. I am in the middle of having two cards be suspended here in Negros Oriental, which is not the first time it has happened. The last time I had one sent back (fairly recently), I was ecstatic when the courier guy showed up at my apartment with the delivery - until he told me I owed 4300 pesos in "Customs Fees" - for an envelope with my new bank card in it. In fact, I was charged duty for the card AND the air freight charge to fly it over to me. That was a new one on me - paying duty on the courier charge. In fact, my 4300 pesos charge was 80% the cost of sending it to me in the first place. Since customs duties are generally applied to encourage local purchases, next time I need a new card, I will tell my brother to swim over to the Philippines and use a local courier to get it to me and avoid that nasty fee I had to pay.

Motorcycle that needs to be looked at in PH is the Yamaha PG-1. 55,000PHP less than the N-max, and the add-on's such as luggage is less. Just an option to look at that less with big performance. At $1,630 out the door, and cheap add-on's, it's at $1,900 with top box, side luggage, skid plate, and 3 years insurance and registration. And it's on-off road, which is somewhat of a need for the dirt roads and conditions.

A PCX? No way the ADV160 is far superior in so many ways. The ADV you can change the handlebar height and make it closer or farther away with a P600 accessory. PCX bars are fixed and at 6'2" you need adjustability. The ADV comes with ABS on both wheels. A huge benefit in panic braking scenario especially riding in the wet or off-road. The ADV is rated to carry 50 more pounds vs PCX and 80lbs greater than the NMax. The ADV has traction control so going around a corner or accelerating in the wet...no problem. The ADV has keyless start...just keep the key in your box or pocket and get on and go. It makes theft much harder as no key hole to break. The ADV has an adjustable windscreen (I bought an even bigger one on my 2024)...the ADV is much more desirable, harder to get (there was an 8 month waiting list when they first came out in early 2023, and today all dealers are out of stock waiting on the 2026 models coming out in February. The ADV has better ground clearance than the PCX or NMax so it's much better off-road and you don't have to go off-road in PH to be off-road! The ADV will hold it's money and be super easy to sell because they are still in high demand even though it's going on it's 4th model year now. I am 6' 96kg and after replacing the stock front fork oil with a heavier oil the forks work great even with my gf and all our gear on board. I have a front tank bag that holds all my clothes and my 65L box holds my gals....The ADV is hands down way better than the PCX for long distance riding. I have been all over Mindanao, Negros, Cebu and Panay Islands...I live in Iloilo City. You disappoint me with your big boob girls in the headlines but not present in the videos so I stopped watching about 6 months ago when you did it while in Mindanao. Make a point of seeking a real one out each and every video and I will be back glued to the set.

One thing to note is Bangkok has both MRT (below ground) and MTS (above ground) public transit trains. You keep calling BTS MRT, there is MRT stop at Asoke station, and then you can take BTS Asoke to nana BTS station. 2nd thing is any seasoned traveler knows you need at least 3-5 ways to access your money in case you ever run into problem. At least two debit cards and two credit cards plus have Wise or Remitly along with Western Union. I think even Paypal offers a debit card I need to look into that. I find it hard to believe that a seasoned Philippines traveler never knew there were corrupt taxi drivers out there. I guess you had your motorcycle with you for that year. Not just Philippines but also Thailand has corrupt taxi drivers, it's best to just use Grab or Bolt to get a ride. Though honestly 500 pesos is not a horrible price for taxi from Angeles airport to hotel (assuming it's near walking street).
