The breeder of Gertie deserves huge kudos! No way does G look 8 years old and she is also not 'over-typed' with the loose skin, sagging lower eyelids and super-jowls of so many of today's St Bernards. As a slightly younger dog I reckon this girl *would* have been able to do the job the breed was originally created for (search and rescue in mountainous areas). A lot of St Bernards are starting to look Boxer-ish in the face with ever shorter muzzles and bulbous foreheads ... I am completely knocked out how fit-looking and gorgeous this 'old-fashioned' girl is, and I'm sure Gertie herself appreciates what a healthy legacy she's been gifted with. Well done!
@letourneaub07Күн бұрын
My Saint is very similar to Gertie. She's a rescue so we don't know that she's pure bred (she has her dew claws removed which usually means she came from a breeder) but to me she looks 100% Saint. People regularly ask me what she's mixed with because they think Saints are supposed to be droopy meatball heads. I love my healthy, mobile, long snouted girl.

Thanks to what I learned from you all of the baths and such that I've done for him have gone really well, and I've done everything I can to prepare him for his first groom, including watching a lot of your videos around him, (well I'd be watching them anyway, 😅) which hopefully the exposure to the noises will help him as well. My biggest worry is that he just behaves really well for ME and will be a menace to my coworkers, but fingers crossed for all to go well! 🤞🤞🤞

Gertie is gorgeous. Lovely and sweet. Those dressage/tap dancing skills are absolutely fantastic. All 6 of my GSDs (over a span of 30 years) were wonderful tap dancers. One would try and hide her front paws up into her 'armpit' or she would lie down like the cat... All 4 limbs tucked under her body that had the. Capacity to turn into a very solid, unmoveable concrete heap! I feel for you Vanessa, wrestling with a big friendly giant who probably has had professional advice during he'd training period. When you finished with her she sparkled and looked thinner (it would be great to stand in the shower, then forced air dry to remove fat from my body) and just so gorgeous. Thank you for sharing her with us.
