Artie's mum here! Thank you Vanessa for another amazing groom for Artie and for sharing our socials. He really is such a chill and loving cat and it's been awesome finding an empathetic groomer that doesn't mind a kitty! Well behaved/trained and/or gentle natured cats usually have quite a lot of restraint and will avoid using claws to get their point across. Some just don't have the mindfulness or understanding of how to retract their claws for some reason, one of my cats always get her claws stuck in furnitures as a result even when she should know better and had no reason to use them (not climbing or scratching).

Pets aren’t usually the problem-the owners are. Either they don’t take proper care of their pets, which leads to painful and stressful grooming sessions or they don’t expose their pets to grooming in the first place or they tolerate bad behavior. Sometimes all of the above.

We had two Siberian cats, one for almost 18 years, one 17. They were remarkable, the female so smart and who made up games she insisted we play with her. We’re allergic to cats, and well bred Siberians who have no other breeds introduced (for designer coat colors) have less of the Fel D1 protein in their saliva, which is what most people are allergic to. Despite a triple coat, their fur never tangled and was very easy to comb, which they loved. They weren’t ever bathed but they were 100% indoor kitties. RIP Katya and Luka.

I'm guessing it's because it improves the absorption? Wet things and water molecules kinda "stick" to eachothers and if the towel is very absorbant, it'll absorb all the moisture from whatever less absorbant surfaces it's used on even though the towel is wet.

I really appreciate these videos! I have a cat that is very similar in temperament to Artie here, and who also goes on walks outdoor with a harness very frequently! We groom him at home - regular brushing of course, and he is a darling about letting us clip his nails and even brush his teeth. Because he has longer fur, goes outside very often, and tends to get some staining on his white fur from grooming due to porphyrin in his saliva - a natural result of animal-source proteins in his food - we give him a bath once a month or so. He is not very stressed by baths - much like Artie, he might make one or two half-hearted attempts to escape but other than that just complains a little, and then goes right back to being an affectionate lovebug! I guess what I'm trying to say is, thank you for sharing these videos of cats with similar temperaments, lifestyles, and grooming routines! I am a first-time cat owner, and trying to do my very best. I worry a lot that I might be messing something up, and there is a ton of controversy and negative discussion around bathing cats, which can get very alarming. Anyways, thank you!
@namaking39933 ай бұрын
Definitely not messing things up by giving baths... so long as water is warm and air is warm and you aren't just scruffing and dunking... a lot of the negative comes from mistake that because cats don't like water it is somehow harmful to them. But there are many cats who truly love water, hydrotherapy in older arthritic cats is also wonderful for gentle pain relief but much better and helpful when your cat is already used to water and comfortable with it. Lots of cuddles, reassurance, calmness when bathing them and early introduction is the best. Just like dogs... believe me despite their protests huskies are no more harmed by a bath than cats.

Love that absorber towel. For those wondering why you need to wet it first and then wring it out to use, it’s the same principle as your cellulose sponge. Weigh a fully dry sponge, then let it absorb water and re-weigh it. That’s how much water it absorbed. Now wring out that sponge really well, re-weigh it, and let it absorb water again. Now weigh the wet sponge. You’ll find that it absorbed more water when it was damp than it did when it was fully dry. I used to teach this lesson to my students during science class. Don’t have a scale? Wring the water into a glass and see the level. You’ll see that glass with the water from the damp sponge will have more in the glass. Then I’d have them try the same idea at the bathrooms with the paper towels. Some kids were only allowed to take one paper towel after washing their hands, but I told them to really fully use the towel before throwing it away. The others were allowed to take three and dry their hands. The towels they used were definitely drier than the ones their classmates had used. But the kids who took three towels didn’t have as dry hands as the kids who only used one despite the one-towel kids tossing clearly wet towels. It’s the same principle. Try it the next time you’re in a public restroom.

Amazingly well-kept cat. What a lovely temperament. That paw has to be the most gentle 'swat' of rebellion I've ever seen.

I bought your Nasty Critter shampoo for the first time, and I absolutely LOVE it! Worked really well, didn’t take too much to get my hella dirty dog lathered up, and rinsing was SO easy. I’m used to rinsing forever and ever to make sure there is no soap residue left, but your’s rinsed away so cleanly and easy. My cats are next, but I’m building up my resolve because last time I got shredded by the big one. 😅

The cast looks so relaxed when being blow dried, it's like it realized it's at the salon & is indulging in the experience.

Lovely! I enjoy your cat groomings the best ❤ I know this one wasn’t a drastic change at all but I loved when you put the before and afters 😅
