Urad dal 1/4 cup
Methi seeds 1/2 tsp
Salt

Sambar onions 10-12

green chilli 2
Groundnuts 2 Tbsp
Coriander leaves
Coconut grated 2 tbsp
Salt
Oil 1tp
mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
urad dal 1/4 tsp
Dry red chilli 1
Raw rice 1 cup
Paruppu Keerai Sambar
Paruppu Keerai/Any greens 2 cups
Tuvar dal 1/3 cup
Haldi powder a pinch
Salt
Tamarind lemon size piece
Oil 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds 2tsp
Channa Dal 1tsp
Urad dal 1 tsp
jeera 1/2 tsp
Bydagi red chillis 4
Spicy red chillis 3
Grated coconut 2 Tbsp

Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp

I do enjoy watching Ms Gita's cooking videos. However, one small complaint I have for all Indian cooking videos is (specifically, the recipes that use pressure cooker) - When you say cook for '1 whistle' or '3 whistles' what does that mean in time duration? If the gas flame is set low, 1 or 2 or 3 whistles takes a long time. However, if the flame is set to high, the time for the whistles is short. I 'whish' (pun intended !) the actual time of pressure cooking is specified instead of number of whistles.

Yes, you are right ! However for ease of convenience we have adopted this Whistle?! method. Your comment took me back to the numerous discussions I had with my father on this topic. He would absolutely agree with what you have said ! However as a thumb rule our regular cooking of rice and Dals is on medium flame. Whenever there is a change we specify in the instruction,. For example while cooking whole legumes like Channa or Rajma we say on med flame for 3 whistles and then ten minutes on sim. (In a lighter vein, my loyal pressure cooker has been with me for over 30 years and still whistles when Im cooking !)
