As a us citizen I enjoyed this insight to Europe. Also girl, being invited to parliament is no joke! Girl you are such a bad ass!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I really appreciate both the groundedness and nuance that you always bring. Also, the dessert that "they put so much love into" made me laugh so much I had to go back and look at it again :D

So impressed by the Danish MEPs. What a breath of fresh air to see people who truly care in positions of influence

They are both amazing, easy to talk to and so well rounded, it was an absolute pleasure ✨✨

Dear Gittemarie, it is amazing that you got this opportunity, and for the climate to become very important on the agenda it will take some time, and it is very sad that countries that have resources eg China as it was in the talks, does not want to contribute. Though EU is important I kinda lost my hope with them, I feel that people like you should have a voice and more power when it comes to climate. Keep doing this amazing work.

Thank you for this, I appreciate the support 🫶 I understand that feel though, all to well, it’s hard to see the systems we live within go in this direction, and there are so many things I wish where different. What gives me hope is that I know there are people fighting for it ❤

Politicians don’t answer your questions: they take your question as an opportunity to talk about what they want to present 😅learning that being in politics myself (member of les ecologistes in france)

Totally agree with what you said near the end of the video, Gittemarie, it would be easy to be discouraged with all the updates (or lack thereof) from COP29 and other projects. However, knowing there are people out there who are fighting so hard for our planet and our people every day is a reason to celebrate and keep working!

you are able to live and breathe in activism! you have such a kind way about you, that I wish even 20% of our politicians can say the same.

Thanks for this video! I recently found out about EU citizen initiatives. With a certain number of signatures thinga have to be discussed in parlement. There is a list of the initiatives on their website. I also get emails from The Greens who sometimes encourage you to write politicians in the EU to vote in a way I would want. This resulted in a little succes on the deforestation legislations last week.

I would love it if he'd just been like, "You know what? It's hard to come up with ideas to fight plastic pollution. Do you have ideas?" Because then it shows that he's at least open to ideas.

You can always wrap the book with newspaper or a paper bag or something so people don’t know what you’re reading 😈 It’s so exciting that you were invited to the EU Parliament! Congratulations and thank you for speaking up!

If I had known that you were going to participate in this, I would’ve told you that you should tell them to stop producing reusable bags because they’re becoming just like plastic ones, just as problematic…
