Although I disagree with Cliffe on certain views regarding Christianity, he still has my utmost respect for what he does. For a pastor, he does what very few do, and that's go out to the general public and tackle lots of questions about faith from young students, he does remind me in a way of Paul in the gospels who wasn't afraid to stand in a public square and debate with unbelievers. He has my full respect.

Five ironies. 1.) When a moral relativist or a subjective moralist, says Christianity is wrong or a belief in God is wrong. 2.) When someone says that you are using the God of the Gaps fallacy and then turns around and says (paraphrase), "we don't know, therefore science." 3.) When someone says that the Bible was rewritten but assumes what is written in the Bible. 4.) When someone argues against Christianity by quoting the Old Testament. 5.) When someone says, "You haven't answered my question," and then doesn't know how to word their question.

1. they can still hold that position on their relativistic or subjective basis offcourse 2. that would be strange indeed... don't hear that quite often though 3. no idea what you mean by that 4. does that also apply to jesus when he used the old 'law' as a representation of his believes or argument for his thruth (without it you don't have prophesy; no need for salvation; ..) 5. true

For that one guys point about the flood, why would it be weird? I'm from Liberia and we have accounts about the dangers of mermaids/sirens (but we call them mame wata.) And growing up I learned many other cultures had accounts about mermaids/sirens being dangerous also. It was surprising to learn how Disney changed the image of them. Another thing that baffles me is that in the US it is like people do not believe in the supernatural/dangers of the supernatural/demonic but at the same time there are so many horror movies/magic movies. The only time a western person experiences curses is whenever they travel or stumble upon a cursed area/item in the movie. I don't understand... I especially don't understand when people say it is impossible for the supernatural to occur because they've never seen it? Yet, we experience it all the time where I'm from. 😐 and even with me living in the US, it still doesn't stop.

i cannot stand when people try to say that the Bible has stolen or copied from myths like horus or osiris, or is similart to the story of the epic of gilgamesh. on the one hand the fallacious claim that the historicity of Jesus in the gospels was stolen from egytian culture is not true at all. when you compare the primary documents side by side it turns out very quickly and very clearly that they are nothing alike and that e gospels remain unique. on the other hand when people compare the story of noah and the epic of gilgamesh, when you compare the two primary documents side by side it turns out that there are many dissimilarities. the epic of gilgamesh turns out to be very scrambled, irrational and undoable.... the size portions for the ship was a cube which would be an unworthy sea vessel because it would be constantly flipping, and gilgamesh took 7 days to build the ship, whereas noah took somewhere around 75 years give or take, etc. etc. etc., and when you compare all other factors the similarities quickly begin to fade at a rapid rate. like cliffe basically said, its like a global and cultural game of telephone... it just so happens that the Bible is the accurate and historical account of the flood. and Jesus Christ is the final affirmation of this since He claimed to be the truth and He believed in the writing of Genesis and of the law and the prophets (OT), thus His victory over death in His Resurrection from the dead is the verification of this.

at 14:00 ish, the guy is asking where's Jesus. If a Christian can tell where Jesus is at all times when he comes for his brief visits, we'd all be rich. Because that would mean that the person/christian you are asking would have clarvoiance to see where any person is that they think of. "right now Jesus is in singapor, oh nope he's in idaho" If we could do this precisely with Jesus who can be anywhere he pleases at an instant, at will. Then it would be difficult to track him if we could. Also we'd be able to go to any police station and look at their missing persons board or report and say "I know where they are" and get the reward which can be between $5,000 - $150,000. Think people think.

@gollumgollum
@gollumgollum 8 жыл бұрын
I can see no one has the intellectual honesty to answer the question. It doesn't surprise me. I've asked it of literally hundreds of theists and so far a big fat zero have been willing to answer it. It's always a duck and dodge. So you move the goal posts by asking other questions, making statements about value etc. Just verbal diarrhea. I'll explain why you're too afraid to answer it. You already know, but for those playing at home.... If you answer "Yes, I would become a rapist, murderer and child molester if there was no god" well that certainly isn't good! What you're saying is you have a strong desire to rape, murder and molest children but fear of reprisal from a supernatural magical being prevents you from committing these atrocities. That will never do and I don't think the majority of the population has these desires. I do not believe in a supernatural magical being and I have never raped, murdered or molested anyone. If you answer "No, I would not become a rapist, murderer and child molester if there was no god" that's no good either! You have just demonstrated you do not need a supernatural magical being to have morals. This is why your argument crumbles to dust with one very simple question. That is why you won't answer the question. It blows up your entire world view of morality.

You do see miracles now. In fact, we as Christians should be convicted by this and walk in our identities as children of God, in power and authority. We have the ability to heal the sick, cast out demons, and preach the gospel. Greater things we can do. So yes, we need to let go of man's traditions and open our eyes and wake up to who we are in Christ. These will be signs for the unbelievers.

Hmm, I'm not so convinced my friend, I've been searching for good evidence of miracles for about 10 years now and not found much credible evidence ( if any in actual fact), we tend to see things we want to see a lot of the time, and it simply confirms our bias's. I'd be very interested to hear if you have any real good evidence of a true miracle.
@johnnyappleseed5029

Couldn't your logic that "we tend to see things we want to see a lot of the time" explain why you haven't "seen evidence" for the miraculous? We are surrounded by everyday miracles that too many take for granted and it isn't difficult to find documented instances and occurrences that are beyond physical or natural explanation. I pray your eyes be opened. God bless you and your family

bonnie43uk What Johnny said is very true. When we live our lives the way we currently live it, we won't be open to seeing or even be in a position to see the things that challenges our beliefs. I recommend you watch "The Last Reformation" movie on youtube. Let it renew your mind to what the scriptures says, and walk in it.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 8 жыл бұрын
Siscast Hi Siscast, yes indeed, i saw 'The last reformation' a year or so ago on someone's recommendation, It is indeed a very inspirational film, especially if you happen to be a Christian, I'm sure it will re-affirm your faith. I have no issues with that. As a skeptic though, it didn't re-new my mind I'm sorry to say, I have a great interest in miracle claims, and of course, this film is full of apparent miracles, hence why I was interested to watch it. ( i did find it one of the few Christian films that held my interest throughout). Unfortunately I wasn't convinced by any of the miracles that occurred in the movie, although I do think the people genuinely thought they had been cured of their minor ailments, this was probably due to the 'placebo' effect of wanting to be healed. Now obviously i can't prove this, but I do wonder why we *never* see certain illnesses and disabilities healed. That is a major stumbling block for me. If the film makers Torben and Lebo honestly thought they had a genuine gift, they could have tried their healing on people like Downs syndrome sufferers or Spina bifida sufferers, that would have really made the news.

Re. Luke. Cliffy "clearly" doesn't understand historical method, quality of evidence and the difference between eye witness and hearsay. He believes sooo easily. He needs to be honest about the facts, as he's preaching as if its fact. Gospels have some history in them, yes, but the story itself is not backed by history. Christians, learn your bible, and history. Pop quiz, how many different endings does Mark have? Who wrote it? The floor is open.

I think Cliffe misunderstands the atheist position regarding morality, I don't know of any of my atheist friends who says it's ok to treat people badly.. we can all come to the conclusion that it's better to get on with eachother from the way we've been raised to know right from wrong by our parents and peers. I don't know of anyone who would call themselves a moral relativist either.

TZfitness Hi TZ, as I said, as atheists, we believe we get them from our parents and peers.( as they did from their parents and peers, etc) It's a huge subject, but that's my very short answer.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 8 жыл бұрын
TZfitness That's the thing though TZ, no mother or father that I'm aware of would teach their child to spit on someone, the vast majority of parents raise their children properly, with manners. I could not even envisage a child spitting at someone with that childs parent's looking on admiringly.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 8 жыл бұрын
TZfitness Yes, i get what you're saying TZ. It would be an interesting experiment to isolate a group of babies from society, and raise them up not to have any empathy and to be totally selfish, then to see how they turn out as adults. This might prove that morality is a human construct, .. but of course it would be a very cruel on the children to do this to them. Not recommended though :-) There has been some research done on mothers who have been raped, and ended up having the rapists child, some of the mothers have not shown that baby the kind of love and kindness that comes naturally, a lot of those children grow up with major behavior problems and became anti social, and in adult life have become violent and have led a life of crime, so there is some evidence that morality is a learned behavior.
@Abc-cp6cb
@Abc-cp6cb 8 жыл бұрын
You don't understand the moral argument. It is not saying atheists are bad people. It's saying if God exists, there are some objective morals. For example, killing innocent children is wrong even if society says it is right. Why? because there is a moral law giver (God) who right and wrong flows from. If your an atheist, there is no moral law giver (God). So, who defines morality? Society. Therefore, all morality is dependent on what the society or individual says. There is no ultimate or objective standard of right and wrong. It's all relative. When Nazi Germany told children Jews were to be killed were they relatively wrong or objectively wrong? When Racist Americans said African Americans were 3/4 the value of whites were they objectively or relatively wrong? If there is no moral law giver there is no ultimate moral standard of the universe. As a result the atheist is forced to say "Nazis were relatively wrong." If Nazis were relatively wrong then they also can be relatively right. That is the absurdity of atheism.
