Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Күн бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

These kids don't have any real debating experience or have dealt with a lot of philosophical discussions like Cliffe has. That does not mean the kid is wrong and should convert. Cliffe is a very good communicator and excellent in rhetoric. Unfortunately for him when he debated Matt Dillahunty who is just as good, Cliffe had to constantly pivot and appeal to emotions. You really should watch that debate with an open mind that is to say if you care about reason or what makes sense rather than the ideal.

@Marlena , I experienced it differently. The kid seemed to speak just fine. Quite articulate in fact. I didn't sense any speechlessness. It was a good discussion by two intelligent people. I think Cliffe had good answers for him but it wasn't some sort of intellectual slaughter. I like this video a lot as well.

Starting at 17:30, I love that portion where he talks about how there isn't absolute certainty with anything in life. It's not realistic to live with 2+2=4 certainty with all of our decisions. There is never a guarantee for anything. I love how he brought marriage and all of his examples to relay his point. Cliffe is a word artist. Praise God for His preservation of the Word and how more evidence points to God being the truth as time goes on. It's beautiful and brings me to tears on how people don't see it.

The gospels are eye witness accounts. The writer interviewed the disciples that actually traveled with Jesus for three years watching Him heal people and change lived and they listened to His teachings and realized Jesus was God incarnate. It’s really hypocritical to down play the eye witnesses to Jesus Christ but rely on eye witness accounts during trials in the courts. If you witnessed a car accident you would be bursting at the seams to give your eye witness account. Why should we really on your testimony but when it comes to Jesus you can’t believe the eye witness accounts of the disciples, hmmm how hypocritical.

However we have our rational mind and the choice to take a leap of faith and call out to God. We only have to do it once and as much ad we are tempted to not do so based on our own ego the thing is... We can't help ourselves and expect to one true God helps us... No one else will.

***** Do you really need an explanation for the absurdity of scapegoating? Do you think holding innocent being(s) responsible for the punishment (or atonement) of the guilty being(s) is moral? Just imagine giving criminals convicted of a capital offense the option to have someone else stand in for their punishment. Several of histories' more charismatic psychopaths had plenty of brainwashed followers willing to take the penalty of their hero/criminal. Let's go from the theoretical to the real world. If the mass murderer's victims were your friends or family members....NOW how do you about an innocent being dying for that crime? Meanwhile, the guilty party is not only still alive, they are absolved and scot-free. There is NO CONTEXT that makes scapegoating just. You disagree? Please provide an answer to my original question: How does the murder of the innocent take away the crimes of the guilty?

I just recently watched the video where Cliff discussed the trinity and he did not lose in that discussion either. He was not left speechless or caught off guard because he's honest. He explained it to the best of his ability and how he sees it. That is the goal. The goal is not to catch someone up in a trick. The goal is to express the truth to them in love. At least, the truth as it is most obviously perceived when it appeals to conscience, humanity and Christ..

The rest is history. Again, please give me the address to that video, so that I can see for myself. Thank you.

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending acknowledgement of the existence of gods until sufficient evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._* And here is the evidence as to why I currently hold to such a position. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists. 5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain multiple fallacious or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomena that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of a god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding such acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

Okay theo what are you living for? Are nazi getting the last say on millions of lives if so are they wrong? Is everything relative? What do you follow today? Have you heard of the prophecies in the bible in the book of daniel it shows roman history entirely up to now pin point also since this is it just a "coincidence" that a book in 600bc guess roman history without a divine being want to learn about read the book of daniel still confused watch Babylon to America. Then after you got the prophecy tell me is it just a coincidence. Or is it backing the proof of god. You can be a skeptic but if your atheists understand morality is relative and the nazi got the last say on millions of jew lives. Peace I hope that is substantial evidence also life does not come from non life, rational does not come from irrational. Also, look up how complex a single human cell then if you can look at all these designs and rational life existing and say it was accident live it out just god the only will hold all action in judgment. Btw if your holding to atheism because you want to live lawless without self control like cheat and lie and etc.. then dont say you don't because of a lack of evidence. Love you hopefully I said these things correctly.

An atheist is a person who does not believe in the existence of gods. Period. This position describes all atheists, where some may claim that gods do not exist and some claim they simply lack the belief. The atheist position is by definition NOT based in the positive claim that gods do not exist.

All conscious living entities find their limited existential origins in the unlimited, conscious, living Supreme Person, God, so there can be no question of any type of regret at having parted ways with any limited living entity, when one is in God's personal presence. Similarly, how could one possibly miss a single photon of sunlight while basking in the brilliantly effulgent presence of the sun itself? In addition, the scriptures state that God takes special care to redeem all the family members of pure devotees, seven generations into the future, and seven generations into the past, so the conclusion is that no pure devotee of the Lord is ever subjected to missing loved ones and family members when in the eternal presence of God.
