Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Күн бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

I am a Christian and I say no we don’t need to bring Bibles back. If we let Bibles in, then it will be the Quran and every other religious writings and schools will become houses of worship. We already have houses of worship that people are free to go to and worship. The public schools are secular and should remain that way. God does not force Himself on people so why should we be forcing Him on people.

@@gingercake0907 exactly. We're not in a theocracy. If our Bible is brought into school, others have to be brought in as well. The education system can't favor one religion over the other. That directly contradicts the first amendment. Also, Christ wasn't meant to be a political leader or a governmental force. You can't build something from the top down. A building can't stand if you try and make the roof stand on its own. You have to start at the foundation, the base. Christ has to be brought to the individual, the person. Then our governments can change. But, we can't start at the top

The young man in the opening asked a deep question. I think he’s touching on the fact that as God is supernaturally perfect, why should He have a need to intervene in the creation that He brought into being. We are imperfect and morally vulnerable, but part of being made in God’s image is the possession of our free will. When we stumble, we realize where our faith is weak. Where we choose obedience by faith and or suffer for His sake, we bring glory to God.

Do you happen to have your videos already categorized by topic and available? This is a really tricky question, Whether all moral values are objective or subjective! If we look back to the garden of Eden, we notice that Adam and Eve couldn't comprehend between good and evil, until God defined a Law, which was, do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil! Once they did, they then began to distinguish between good and evil! Adam already was able to determine good things, we see this when God created Eve, and after this Adam determined that she was good for him! "Flesh of my own flesh". Adam and Eve were also both clearly able to define right from wrong before eating of the tree, as well, or else, how would God have expected them to understand that it was wrong to disobey him and eat of the tree! So, in this case, they were subjected to the Law from God, thus determining what was good vs evil! So, the big change after eating was that they began to define things, as evil and the introduction of sin in their lives. This happened only after disobeying God! One key question is this, before all of this disobedience took place, did Adam and Eve understand what love was? I would assume they did, they walked with God and God is a loving God! But was it objective or subjective? Did they learn how to love from God or did they just know? Thinking back to myself as a child, I knew that I loved my Mom and Dad and about 10 girls in the neighborhood, but the question is, how did I know what love was? Was is defined by my parents, or did I just know? Clearly, this is a difficult question.. Do all understand what true love is defined in the bible? Either way, I look at it all this way, whether values are objective vs subjective isn't the most important question. An even greater question is this, If there is an absolute truth and it requires you to make a choice, after hearing it, to either take it or leave it, how do you respond to that truth? What choice do you make? Christ said that he is the only way to have eternal life and live with the Father and whoever rejects him, also rejects the father , and then Christ put his money where his mouth was and was raised from the dead! Will you take him at his word and look at the evidence provided and at the evidence of the millions of people who follow him, or will you reject him and say, NA I'm good on my own! I'll trust myself! For me, after I realized the character of Christ and the loving, beautiful act that he did on the cross for me, and the fact that I relate with the loving, kind spirit that compelling him! Just on that fact alone, I chose to believe in him! The rest of the truth that I ended up discovering after excepting him in my life, from my deep studies in the bible and then knowing and witnessing the Holy Spirit at work and all of the peace that comes in the midst of the storm, as well, is all just icing on the cake! I pray that all can experience a real relationship with Christ and that all can see who he truly is and his true nature! Sometimes we need to simply just accept the evidence that is provided and just make a choice! But, I recommend praying to Christ before making that choice and ask him to reveal himself to you!

Has anyone wondered , why is faith in Christ the only way, that the Word of God declares will redeem you, because it's by His grace, not your works. Everything in the Word of God is Truth in it's time and context. Jesus Christ is Creator, Saviour and Redeemer.

All of the Word of God is Truth if you rightly divide the truth - 2 Timothy 2:15. As Believers, though you are required to receive the word with all readiness of mind, you should search the scriptures daily, to ascertain whether those things were so - Acts 17:11 As Believers our faith is in Christ and we are saved by grace and not by our works. Our faith is not a "religion", though denominations and freelancers have made it a religion, by carving out HIS Sheep, with sacraments and picking a verse or a verse there, to justify their own theology, enrichment and hold power. What is history ? History is the account of events of the past in countries, for it's population to know and learn from. On a global scale, History is His Story laid out by the Creator for our knowledge and learn the Truth of Word of God. HE who is outside of Time has revealed the history of this the First Earth. Acts 17:26 > And (GOD) hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; (HE has determined the bounds of Man's habitation - On Earth - and HE hath determined the Times appointed for our Habitation as we near the end of this age, when in deceit they talk about living on Moon and Mars etc. The dimensions within the Triune God - Father, Word (made manifest in the flesh as the Son) and Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 > Then cometh the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For HE hath put all things under His feet. But when HE saith all things are put under Him, it is manifest that HE is excepted, which did put all things under Him. And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto HIM that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all. GOD who is Spirit, is Triune and in His Wisdom from timeless past has 3 dimensions, The Father, The Word and The Holy Spirit, that becomes manifest according to the "need" and "time" to be manifested to His Creation primarily Mankind. When all is done after the redeemed are Born Again and themselves in Eternity on the New Earth, GOD who is Spirit will dwell with Mankind, then 2 of the dimensions are subsumed into HIMSELF because their independent manifestation becomes redundant as there is no further "need" and besides there is no "time" ; the Son, (the Word that became flesh), has already (in obedience to the Father from the beginning) fulfilled His role and "Holy" is the very essence of the Spirit of GOD. Adam's sin was unbelief in His Word while Abraham was considered righteous because he believed in His Word. Unbelief is the poison and Faith in Yahshua is the antidote. If you rationalise, what does an earthly father (who is even richer than somebody like Bill Gates and who wants nothing that is material or of this world) want from his children. Nothing except trust or faith or belief in him. Exactly what our Heavenly Father wants - Faith or Belief or Trust. That's why salvation is by faith through grace, not of (good) works lest man boast. It's Abraham's faith in God that was accounted as righteousness (imputed unto him), not his works. The Truth will set you free. Only HE expects is that you Believe HIM and in HIM. HIS name is YEHOVAH and made manifest in the flesh as YAHSHUA at the appointed time. Exodus 6:3 > And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Remember, that what is prophecy to man is History from GOD, who is outside of time. Acts 17:26 > And (GOD) hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; Isaiah 46:9-10 > Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isaiah:46:9 > Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: The final abode of all the gathered is the New Earth where God dwells with Man forever. John 3:13 > And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but HE that came down from heaven (third heaven), even the Son of man which is in heaven. Psalm 115:16 > The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath He given to the children of men. Think, why is He creating a New Earth and New Jerusalem for after the passing away of the First Earth. The Word of God never states that Man will dwell with God; why is God creating a New Earth, if Heaven was where Man was to dwell.

Good discussion. At 13:45 Cliffe says it's objectively wrong to be racist, but there are millions of people on the planet who genuinely believe that it's ok to demean people of a different race. If you were to ask many of them if it's wrong to show disdain for a person who is black, I'm sure they would give you what they see as valid reasons to hate black people. Racism is subjective, I believe it's wrong and I can give valid reasons why, but, by the same token, a racist person may give what they believe are valid and honest reasons whay racism is ok.

Hey Tom we agree. If God does not exist and there is no objective unchanging standard of morality then you are correct. Without an outside reference it is all opinion. The same way in the physical world if an object does not exist there is no right or wrong answer on how to describe it. It is basically made up. I can say its round and you square an without this object actually existing for us to reference and see who is correct we are both just giving our opinion or crazy for trying to describe something that is non existent.

You also have to understand that Cliffe is being consistent with his beliefs. If God created us and morality is based on Gods character. Then if God does not lie. Lying is wrong. If God is not a thief then stealing is wrong.if God is not racist then racism is wrong ect. I know you don't believe that but I am just saying his reasoning is valid in his world view. It doesnt matter what reasons someone has on why racism is wrong or right it isn't based on your reasons.

@ONESTEPAHEAD. Hi Julio, well, you mention God's character, I have a lot of issues with the character of God in the Bible. You said that he does not lie, steal, or is not racist, I would argue he does all those things and more. Regarding lying, in Genesis, God tells Adam and Eve that if they partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge "they will surely die", they disobey God (As God knew they would because he has knowledge of the future), they do not die, they are instead kicked out of the garden, which in turn sets off the so-called 'fall of man'. Now, of course, you could argue that they died eventually, i think Adam was aged 930 when the story says he died. If I tell you categorically that if you drink a cup of poison that you will surely die, and you drink it, and live to a ripe old age of 95, I think it's safe to assume I lied to you, or at the very least, I was wrong. Why did God not tell Adam and Eve that eating the fruit would condemn them and every generation thereafter of their children to a life of toil and misery?.. which God was fully aware of this happening. He even ensured a deceptive serpent would see to it they took the fruit. Regarding stealing, there are lots of examples whereby God instructs Moses to wipe out rival tribes, the Canaanites, Midianites, Amalekites and to take their possessions and cattle, even the young girls. If this is not stealing of the worst kind ( killing people then taking their belongings) then I don't know what is. And racism, again, using a dictionary definition : "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior". Did God not believe that the Israelites were superior to other races?

@@bonnie43uk I agree with alot of what Sye says but something about his approach is extremely obnoxious. It seems more like he wants to win an argument with got ya type questions then to help the person understand. I could be wrong. I think his arguments are solid but something seems insincere about him. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

@ONESTEPAHEAD. I believe you are absolutely right Julio, rather than being open and honest, and to try and explain his position, Sye constantly comes up with this "How do you know that"? question. Whilst I believe Sye is genuine with his beliefs, I don't doubt that for a second. He doesn't do himself any favors with his line of questioning.

bonnie43uk if you can doubt something then you should stop believing it altogether. Because these two don't belong together. Because you can believe something you would never doubt it, unless you're a double minded man. Truth cannot change into a lie neither can a lie change into the truth. Likewise Doubts will not believe and believers never Doubt.
