At about 4:20 Cliffe talks about a Jewish historian named Josephus who wrote about Jesus as a historical person. When taken in it's entirety the tiny passage about Jesus takes up about 0.01% of everything Josephus wrote. Surely this great historical person who was witnessed by thousands performing miracles would take up more than a tiny paragraph of Josephus's writing. Many scholars view the Josephus mention of Jesus as a deliberate interpolation by later Christian writers to shoe horn Jesus into history. Outside of the New Testament there is very little information about Jesus.
@joshuakuderik68749 жыл бұрын
Sorry your mistaken. There are plenty of references to Yeshua outside of the New Testament... Your reading too many atheist websites and/or too much TV probably.. Check out Bart Erman (not a Christian btw)... As for Josephus, yes a lot has been added... But we recently found OLDER ARABIC texts of Antiquities that show that the core of the text was unbiased and in circulation well before Christians could change it or sugarcoat it... Do the research and look at unbiased and non fringe scholarship on the issues... I'm not even saying look at Christian research... Look at the leading scholarship regardless of belief.. Either way you want to debate the details we can be sure of certain facts... Jesus lived in first century, gained a following, claimed some sort of divinity or messiah ship, was crucified for his ministry, buried by a well known court member, and three days later the tomb was empty... And then Christianity spread like wild fire... So either it's a big conspiracy or Christ was who he claimed to be... It doesn't necessarily matter if the new testament is entirely reliable or not... And i urge you to look at old testament prophecy about the coming messiah... But only look at the ones you can prove outside of the Bible,like Genesis 49:10 or Daniel 9..we have manuscripts that proves it was written beforehand...AND proof outside of the Bible that it was fulfilled, however unlikely.... This shows at the very least that there is something mysterious or other worldly about the works of the Bible... Just a few thoughts.. Cheers..

Joshua Kuderik Hi Joshua, I'm certainly no biblical expert and would never claim to be, but I think I'm right in saying during the time that this Jesus Christ person preached his ministry and performed countless miracles ( as stated in the New Testament), not a single person that we know of wrote about him. It took several decades after his death before Christianity started to gain popularity. Again, with this Josephus Arabic text, I can't see what the fuss is, my claim still stands that Josephus wrote next to nothing about Jesus in comparison with everything he wrote about Jewish history around that time. It's inconceivable to me that if Jesus came down to our planet with a message of such importance for mankind, hardly anybody mentioned it at the time. Even those gospels of Matthew Mark Luke and John weren't written during or straight after Jesus died, i think the earliest (Mark) was written about 20-30 years after Jesus died. And the last one (John) was written around 70 years afterwards. Even in Pauls letters he omits to mention lots of information about Jesus, barely no mention of any miracles, a virgin birth and several other things. Paul didn't even meet Jesus in the flesh as far as I'm aware. Good to chat with you.
@joshuakuderik68749 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk right back at ya.. Sorry I didn't touch on that point... Think about it.. If Christianity is The TRUTH... THEN IT WOULD BE correct when it says in Scripture that only some would believe... Either way...messiahs were showing up all the time in ancient times especially in the first century...so josephus, a Jewish ima, who wasn't trying to write a compilation of history to confirm Christ or even his own Jewish beliefs, was just writing a general history.. If his accounts didn't contain a mention of Jesus, you'd may have a little of a point...it was a small area considering the time, and didn't blow up until later in a significant way.. there are many other references...and the decades idea you have.. U can see that it's pretty well excepted, even by critical, non Christian scholars that the claims of the miracles and resurrection of Jesus were being circulated about 5 years after his death...we know this from the extensive research just done on Paul's writings..and this is all non Christian research... New Ima... Regardless, I wouldn't ask anyone to believe anything based on just the biblical evidence... Its gotta be a cumulative case for any belief... Which is why I mentioned prophecy... Not vague prophecy like many are used to... And not prophecy we can discount because of uncertainty... Prophecy u can actually see and prove... And i personally hate the word prove...
@joshuakuderik68749 жыл бұрын
+bonnie43uk not a single person wrote about nearly anyone during that time, when they were alive.. Usually, in all writings..its after the fact that people write and can reflect and see the big picture... You have to treat the gospels and EPISTLES (Which I would rather use) like every other historical document of its kind... And the epistles may never narrate miracles but they assume them...as well as the resurrection, which they explicitly state happened ... The epistles have more evidence in being closer and more accurate..
@bonnie43uk9 жыл бұрын
Joshua Kuderik Hi Joshua, well, we may have to disagree on great leaders and great names from the past not having anything written about them during their lives or during great events. I'm sure Josephus would have written about events that were occurring during the time they happened, such as famous battles ( i may go and spend some time reading up on specific Josephus writings later if i get time). Also we have roman coins minted and dated with the Emperor of the day on them. Not to mention busts and statues. If you look up many of the Roman Emperors in Wiki, it will even give you precise dates of their birth and death.. interestingly, we have nothing of the sort for Jesus. Paul never mentions Jesus miraculous birth in his epistles to the best of my knowledge. Going off on a tangent slightly, aren't you in the slightest bit skeptical about an Angel coming down from heaven and impregnating Mary? On who's say so are we to believe this? .. it's something that couldn't be witnessed by anyone. ( how do you even go about witnessing a virgin get impregnated by a holy spirit???) In what form did this angel appear? It just seems to fanciful to my skeptical mind. But because it's tradition, it gets accepted as fact.. surely it's something to be seriously questioned. I'm sure many Mormons don't question for one moment the writings of Joseph Smith and his encounter with the Angel Moroni, when you are raised in a particular culture, you tend to accept what grown adults tell you is true.. and they believe it because their parents believed it. But I'm pretty certain, if you went right back to the source and could somehow be a fly on the wall, you'd think to yourself.. Holy shit.. he made it up !

Actually I think theres another reason why God doesnt prove himself to people. Because they wouldn’t believe even if he did. I know I know that’s hard to believe. It doesnt make sense but it’s true. Ive experienced it first hand how someone can have an experience with God and still refuse to believe. Its long story 1 or 2 years ago my atheist friend and me got into an argument about God. We were on a discord call. He asked a lot of hard questions that at the time I struggled to answer. i dont remember a lot of the specifics but I remember him getting frustrated and yelling some sorta insult about God something along the lines “well then God sucks!” And left the call. I thought that was the end of it and figured God would take care of it since I did the best I could. He texts me back asking me more questions. Obviously I am a bit skeptical and ask him if hes gonna yell at me again. He says hes gonna control himself this time. This time it goes pretty peacefully but hes still asking some tough questions that I some what know the answers for but just didnt know how to explain. At one point I suggest that he try praying. He was skeptical obviously. I said “what’s the worst that can happen? He will be more likely to answer your questions” he finally agrees. I leave him alone for a while (idk how long) and then I text him back. He responds telling me that when he prayed that he suddenly just knew all the answers. And that he wanted time to get over the shock of him. I leave him alone for the rest of the day. And come back excited wanting to talk to him about it. But he keeps giving me short answers and avoiding the topic. Now Even in arguments when I ask him about it he refuses to address it. Eventually I managed to ask him. “Is the reason you avoid it is because God told you something you didnt like?” He said “maybe..” and refused to speak more on the topic.

They can’t manipulate God because God isn’t Santa Claus , a genie or wizard. God is extremely holy and righteous and what they can’t stand is His righteousness because they live by their selfish desires of their hearts. “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it? Evolution isn't "survival of the fittest". It's "survival of the best fit". Uh, those statements mean the same thing. The latter just contains a grammatical error.
@bonnie43uk8 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Watson I'd have to disagree with you on this Kevin, I don't think that Darwin ever described evolution as 'survival of the fittest', you could be an extremely fit animal, but in the wrong environment you would not survive. Evolution has more to do with adaption and adapting to the environment. That is a major key to life. Those statements you quoted *do not* mean the same thing. An extremely fit giraffe would not last a few days in the harsh conditions of the antarctic, whereas a penguin that was not fully fit, would cope much better in those same freezing conditions.
@kevinwatson72218 жыл бұрын
bonnie43uk I wasn't saying anything about evolution itself. I was making a comment about a statement of someone in the video, who said that evolution didn't mean "survival of the fittest" but rather "survival of the best fit." I was merely pointing out that those two statements meant the same thing.
@bonnie43uk8 жыл бұрын
Kevin Watson Hmm, that seems a bit odd saying that. If the person in the video is speaking about evolution and correctly asserting that it's not 'survival of the fittest' but more to do with 'survival of the best fit' (best adapted) , then that person is absolutely correct as I see it. I gave the example of the giraffe and the penguin, although the penguin may well be in some way physically hindered, let's say it has a bad bite from a leopard seal, it will still be better fitted to its environment than a giraffe obviously, so he is exactly correct. In evolutionary terms (which is what he was referring to) he was spot on. They are markedly different.
@kevinwatson72218 жыл бұрын
bonnie43uk No. Tom, "fittest" and "best fit" mean exactly the same thing. The latter is just grammatically incorrect. In defending the idea of being "best fit" for one's environment, you are also defending the idea of being "fittest" for one's environment. There is no distinction there.
@bonnie43uk8 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Watson 'Best fit' may be considered grammatically incorrect if that's what the man said, I will have to listen to what he said, but if he meant best adapted, which, if he was talking about evolution, which is what you said he was referring to, then he is bang on the money. There is a world of difference between the word 'fittest' as in 'in prime physical condition' and 'fit' as in ' fit into place' which is what he was talking about according to you.

God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24. God is omnipresent, He doesn’t have a gender because He can dwell in anyone, anytime, anywhere simultaneously. He has kept it simple for us because human beings can relate to a father. We can relate to a mother but He chose “ Father”. Because in human societies it’s the father that has the authority. Our salvation doesn’t rest on Jesus gender but on His deity, God incarcerate, 100% God , 100% man.
