Hey, just wondering if you are a Christian? Because God tells us in His word there these are not good people. Romans 3:10 "There is no one that is good, no not one." There are many other places which talk about the condition and sin mature of man. Besides, the Gospel says the complete opposite. If we were good then we wouldn't need a Savoir. You also said that these people are searching after God? Romans 3:11 says that no one seeks after God.

@@AeroZeppelin-rb4pt You said, isn't it us who FIRST has to want God? No, Salvation is from God working first, God gets the credit, God does the work, I don't add or contribute anything to my salvation. The only thing I contributed to myself was the sin that put Jesus on the cross. What happens is that God FIRST through the Holy Spirit worked in me and gave me a new heart with new desires. A heart that would want to choose God back. A heart that was ABLE to choose God back. But before God started regeneration in my I wasn't even able to choose God or to first choose God. I would be curious as to how you interpret Romans 3:11 where it says that there is NO ONE who seeks after God. Many times in scripture it also talks about how you were spiritually DEAD in your sins and trespasses. How can a dead person (spiritually) choose God? Also if there is something that you have to DO then isn't that a work? Aren't you saying that you are saved by works?

This life, with all its trials, it’s ups, it’s downs, happinesses and sorrows, can be likened to the struggle in the womb. We are told that heaven, the new life to come, when we leave the womb of this world, will be seemingly better than the best days of our life here on earth. The description of heaven given in the Bible seems too good to be true. God will wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death. Rev 21 :4 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). “The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass” (Revelation 21:21). To say it’s something to look forward to, is a complete understatement. There aren’t words to describe it. It’s going to be something else. Make sure you get your ticket. Jesus Christ is selling them. They are going cheap.

Of course it goes without saying that Cliffe is right in his statement whereby he states that God is absolutely just and fair. And therefore He will judge fairly. And as God knows everything, He therefore also knows before we are born if we are going to be for or against Him. And presumably God can say in the case of those who didn’t get the opportunity to hear the gospel preached, that, had they heard the gospel message, they would have either accepted or rejected It. And as God knows what they will do, such as either be for or against Him, He can presumably judge on the basis of what they would have done if they got the chance to do it. And as unlikely as it might seem but hey maybe it could be this. Maybe for some of those whom God knows will not accept His offer of salvation, God in His wisdom allows them to have a life that does not include actually hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. And maybe God judges these ones on the basis of being the all knowing judge, who can say, they are condemned, because God says they would have rejected Him if they had of gotten the opportunity to do so. Certainly God also knew before the creation of mankind of the untold havoc that would be reeked by Satan and his demons, But nevertheless God still deemed it fitting otherwise He wouldn’t have allowed Satan to be here amongst us. There’s plenty of other planets God could have sent him to. Could it be that Satan’s purpose from God’s perspective, is to tempt us, so we can, by successfully overcoming the temptations, gain the quality of character that’s necessary, in order to become the sons and daughters of God. Obviously God would have taken into consideration the fall out, namely the destruction caused by Satan, but as Cliffe rightly says we can count on the justice of God. Those who suffer on account of Satan’s destructive forces will be judged by God fairly and squarely. The infant that dies within hours of being born whom God knew would become another Hitler will be judged by God’s supreme justice on this basis. And conversely if God knew that the baby infant would have become a grateful obedient believer in the Lord Jesus Christ then on that basis judgment will be applied. Cliffe is right. We can trust the judgment of God.

Cliffe is certainly right when he says "You've got to doubt, you've got to be a skeptic", it's good to agree with him. But he also says if he were to ever convert to atheism, "he can do whatever". Atheists don't go around doing whatever they want, we are bound by societies laws, but even then, I don't have a desire to commit wrongdoings, maybe he see's it differently from his Christian perspective, but any atheist will tell you they cannot do whatever they want. There are rules in life, actions have consequences. I think we can all agree on that.

Is something wrong because God says it's wrong or is it wrong regardless of God deeming it wrong? As an atheist, obviously I would say the latter, it's wrong because I wouldn't want someone to steal my wallet, and I'd be well aware of the consequences of having my wallet stolen.

And of course we know that it's wrong God wrote that on our hearts and Minds yet if you are an atheist you have no legs to stand on claiming that something is morally wrong where do you get your moral standard from?
@bonnie43uk5 жыл бұрын
@@codeblood2000 Knowing what is right and wrong isn't rocket science, it's simple common sense which is what most rational people have, we learn it from our parents at a very early age, even before you learn to walk as a baby you have a general sense of good and bad, one of the first words you learn from your mother as a baby is "No". As you get older, you learn the basics of right and wrong, it's nothing to do with opinion. I didn't make my own standard of right and wrong, it was a combination of being taught at a very early age, and simple common sense, that's where my moral standard came from. Are you saying if there was no God you'd have no problem with stealing and raping?, if that's the case... please keep believing in God if that's all that's holding you back from committing wrongdoings.
@codeblood20005 жыл бұрын
@@bonnie43uk of course we have common sense that sense of right and wrong that was etched in our hearts by God, call the common sense. What I don't think you're understanding is if there is no God and Humanity makes the standard of what is right and what is wrong. And there is no such thing as a right and wrong everyone's equal what they're doing in Afghanistan is none of our business 911 wasn't a big deal either they did what they thought was right nobody's right nobody's wrong. If there is no God everything is permissible that's just the simple truth. Who are you to tell another nation that using War to get what they want is wrong? They're clearly using their own common sense to justify it. Why is it wrong? why are you right to tell them they're wrong? Without God there is no higher standard for Humanity, humanity is the standard so each human gets to make their own standards therefore nobody can be called wrong.

Cliffe said "You may be right, maybe Christianity is just a philosophy made up to bring us comfort." At other times he talks about "IF Christianity is true" and that he "could be wrong." But, when do we see in scripture Jesus or the apostles talking like this? Jesus and His disciples declared the truth! They didn't present it as just one of many different options but rather a a command to be obeyed. Cliffe always says to look at all the evidence and look at all the other religions and read their books then go wherever the evidence leads. Again, where do we see this type of evangelism and apologetic methodology in the Bible? Why doesn't Cliffe just declare what the truth is? Instead he presents it as if it's neutral and on par with other religions or that Christianity is an option to consider rather than THE ABSOLUTE truth. Seems like he's trying too hard not to offend people.
@scandalousruminationsofani13065 жыл бұрын
I would liken Cliffe's approach to Paul's in Acts 17. It isn't that he's not trying to offend the students. He's reasoning with them. Other than my two cents, you would need to ask Cliffe himself.

@JohnCashin5 жыл бұрын
Yes, according to the Bible, Jesus and the Apostles never talked like that but I would suggest that this might be the difference between what the Bible says people did and what they actually did in reality. After all, don't forget, Cliffe is a REAL living, breathing Christian human being, existing with us in the here and now, warts and all. He's not a Christian character from a book written over two Millenniums ago that you are comparing him to. This is the difference between REAL living people like all of us here and people we read about in a book. You're presuming that everything you read about Jesus and the Apostles and what they did and said and what they didn't do and didn't say is EXACTLY as the Bible said to a T, but how can you be sure of that when you weren't actually there when they were around to see and hear firsthand what they did and said?? You haven't even got so much as a video of them to give you a realistic idea of what they were like. All you have got is this book called the Bible which you trust. How can you be sure that they didn't on occasions talk like Cliffe does and that the Bible simply omitted to mention it? The Bible is highly likely to have been an editing job, just like all books, so it will only contain what it wants the reader to know about and didn't say what it didn't want the reader to know about. For all you know, the Apostles might have had moments when they had to concede to people they were preaching to "we could be wrong" and it just didn't get mentioned in the Bible but Cliffe, on the other hand, can't hide behind an edited book because he is a REAL person, living today and showing himself and talking in front of a live audience, not to mention detailed scrutiny on KZbin. Furthermore, I have no way of even being sure that Jesus and the Apostles as the Bible portrayed them ever really existed at all but I do know Cliffe Knechtle exists, I know he's a real person, who is alive, right now, and so what he has to say is much more credible in my eyes, in comparison to a book written thousands of years ago that tells me stories about characters that lived and died long before I was born. Unless Jesus Christ or the Apostles stand right in front of my two eyes and talks to me, people like Cliffe are all I have to judge whether or not Christianity makes sense and so far, he hasn't convinced me but he's got much more chance of convincing me than a book full of stories, I'll give Cliffe that much and I have a huge amount of respect for him, even if I am not convinced that the things he believes to be true have met their burden of proof.

@@JohnCashin How can I be sure of what is said in the Bible because after all I wasn't around and wasn't there? Ummm....with any writing in history we were not around or there yet we are all rational to believe lots of things that happened a long time ago. I'm sure you believe lots of things from history even though you weren't there. Do you have video for the things that you believe from the ancient world!?? We, including historians believe many things in history based on eye witness accounts from written documents. No historian was there and we have no video. Out of curiosity....what is YOUR standard and criteria for believing things that have happened a long time ago? Do you apply the same standard? You also said that it's probably the case that the Bible was highly edited or change? If you believe this, can you just name a few specific things that were edited or tampered with?
