thanks for this....just got my GIVI crash bars last night from CarpiMoto...3 days shipped from Italy to NY (better than Amazon lately), and a great price...just got done installing, and it went flawless...almost.....LOL....that long bolt that you have to take out....the nut exceeded the size in my tool kit.....so I had a little strippage, but not too bad...could have been worse...would have taken me a hell of a lot longer if I had to rely on the instructions that came with it....moving the master cylinder reservoir made the hose kind of tight, it had JUST enough slack.....thanks again Ol' Man Ronin

One thing I noticed with the Scram was that there is NO need to relocate the rear brake reservoir. That was a pleasant surprise as there was way less hose available to comfortably use that relocation part. Also no need to loosen headers nor oil cooler on the Scram (though I had to temporarily zip tie the oil line out of the way). But all in all job done and bike looks great! 👍🏼🔧🍻

Just got around to watching this one. There must be some subtle differences between your Himalayan and my 2021, I was able to complete the install without having to loosen the exhaust and and the oil cooler. I never thought about adding loctite, but I now have a project for tomorrow. Was happy to see that I wasn’t the only one with the mislabeled bolt sizes in the the destructions LOL. Also, you’re not the only person that had to go back and insert the forgotten washer 🤔 Love the channel.

Just In Time! After a 168 day wait, I just picked up my Himalayan yesterday, and to my surprise, they had the Givi crash bars in stock despite the fact I had stopped into the dealership a few months ago and asked about ordering the crash bars, and they said they could not order them. Anyway, I have them sitting here and hope to get them installed (perhaps tonight) on my New Himalayan that still only has 17 miles on it. Thanks for the great video.

Got them installed. Very helpful. I didn't need to move the Master Cylinder. I tried but the hose was too short and didn't have enough slack so I put it back on and took a look at the crash guards and thy fit perfectly without having to move it. Sweet. Watching you loosen the exhaust and oil cooler bolts was super helpful cause I would have likely disassembled everything and then lost half of the bolts in the meantime. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for this video. Just did the install on my brand-new 2021 Himalayan yesterday and the tips helped. Everything was easy except for the brake reservoir where the hose barely reaches. I'm not sure why some people in the comments have said they were able to do the install on their 2021s without loosening the exhaust or oil cooler - I had to because there was no way the bottom right-side bolt could get in with the limited space behind the exhaust pipe, and the oil cooler pipe on the left side was right on top of the engine mount bolt. I wonder if Royal Enfield's assembly tolerances between bikes aren't exactly consistent lol.

I think a Himalayan setup like that would be even better. @mattyb7736
@mattyb7736 3 жыл бұрын
Mine was the same with the reservoir, but I moved it as I had enough flex in the mount that it could have vibrated against he bar. Last thing you need is that developing a crack or wearing a hole in it. I had to modify my SRC cover that was on it to get it to fit again, that wasn't really needed now as its tucked further up out of the way of my big hooves, but it looks better with it on.

like on a lot of frame mounted engines. Look to see if it slipped out of line and the hole is clear straight through. You might have to jack up the motor , but before you do, loosen the other motor mounts, dont take the bolts out, just loosen . Line up the front holes, slide the bolt back in and retighten and torque all of the bolts

I began the installation today after watching your video (again). Sadly, on my 2022 Himalayan, the hose is not long enough to move the brake reservoir into position on the new bracket. So I faced with two options. The first is to cut the hose near the reservoir, make sure the remaining part doesn't drain, and put a nipple in line to extend the hose about 2 inches. Then I can mount the reservoir and slowly add and jiggle things in hopes the air will bubble up and out. The second option would be to replace the entire hose and then bleed the rear brake. That's seems more involved to me. Any advice on which option to take?

See if it fits without using the bracket altogether. Some of the newer models will fit. Try that first if not, I would highly avoid cutting lines.

last resort, replace with longer lines, unless you are a certified brake line specialist. Too much pressure for a cut and splice

@@OlManRonin Well, you are the man. It never occurred to me that it might actually fit as is. Sure enough, I bolted the reservoir back in place and there is an inch of space between the engine guard and the reservoir. I'm glad I didn't forge ahead with my side cutters. As you've said in some of your videos --- patience.

RONIN, you naughty boy, neglecting your chain like that, look at the rust at 12:00, need me to link a Harley guy that does maint on a Himalayan, I think hes in Ohio somewhere? hehehe I just have to poke some fun at ya. Looks like not all Himi's are created equal. Interesting you loosened the oil cooler and exhaust. When I fitted Givi's to mine it all bolted straight up, no need to undo anything other than the front top engine mount bolt and it slid straight out. never touched the exhaust. Master cyl reservoir relocation was the annoying bit, I had to "adjust" the SRC cover I had on it to get it to still work. Great vid as always, and will certainly be useful for those that want to fit them. I do not recommend the factory 2 point mount bars, they bend if you use them as "highway" pegs when cruising, and I suspect they would fold against the cases if the bike fell off the stand. I did get a bit of a rattle from mine a few weeks afterwards, one of the bolts on the rear pipe came loose, as you already did on yours, I added loctite, solved the problem.
