She knew Amanda was nervous and just kept it light and didn't scare her (too much)!

Dakota. You do an outstanding job instructing. Being a pilot along with my pilot wife for the past 40 plus years we both enjoyed your teaching skills. One thing every pilot remembers forever is their first flight at the controls and their first solo. So she will always remember you and today’s flight. Great job Dakota!!

This is a very nice refresher for me. My dad had a 172. We flew it until he decided to rebuild it. He had his A/P ticket and added STOL tips. When he passed, a fresh 180 Lycoming was in the box, ready to install. But he had a great time flying it and rebuilding it. I know he's still flying. Thanks for the ride.

@@flyerjack1548 Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. He loved flying and retired early from CBS to follow his passion. He also had a 150 and a Luscomb tail dragger. In addition to his A/P ticket he refurbished radios and instruments and sent them in for certification. He passed in 2000 at the age of 80. Thanks again.

Love this, great job Dakota - Since you also have sailing experience, it would be interesting to hear you discuss how a stalled wing in the plane and angle of attack are the same thing as trimming a sail so it isn't luffing. A lot of people have an epiphany when they make the connection!

Well, turning left and NOT looking before turning seems a recipe for a collision. Students need to do that. The CFI must point that out.

Dakota sounds a lot like my instructor (Katherine) in BG Ky. Very relaxed, smooth and informative voice. Funny too. When they started taxing and she was explaining about steering with brakes, using the top of the pedals with light pressure, she sounded exactly like my Katherine. Great video

Just a little correction to your run up procedure. Make sure when you check carb heat, you leave it pulled out until you return to idle. To make sure it stays running at idle with cab heat on. Which is the condition you would have on final, and you have the runway made and you pull it to idle with carb heat you want to make sure the engine does not quit. Great video, Good Instructions !

Teacher - an interesting thing to explain to your student would be that when you say "Runway 13 left - the number 13 actually has to do precisely with a direction of the compass!! That tells you the orientation of the runway. Nobody ever seems to describe that !! Very important!! Just sayin! Just subbed!
