Except we basically know why. Gen 1 & 3 got the majority of the Megas due to nostalgia/popularity for Gen 1 and because of the ORAS remakes. If the Johto remakes fell into Gen 6/7, those starters would have gotten them instead. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a ~25 year remake for Johto like Let's Go did for Kanto in gen 9

Correction: The Kalos Starters all follow RPG Classes with their designs. Delphox being a mage, Greninja being a Rogue or Ninja (trust me, some RPG games do have a Ninja Class), and Chesnaught being the Warrior. The long amounts of reddish fur on it's body is meant to resemble a mage cloak.

Megas were introduced in gen6. Gen 6 starters didnt, only greninja got a new form that isnt even a mega. But in the gen6 hoenn remakes, the starters had them. But for gen7 the starters had their region's gimmick. And in gen8 the starters had g-maxes, but not the starters from their remakes. WHY?

I think it would be great to be able to have a mega and dynamax in one battle. Or even if they had to make it one or the other it would be a great juxta position to your Pokémon just getting bigger and essentially doing 3 z moves then going back. Mega evolution lasts the whole game but is still not as powerful as dynamax. Therefore it gives you two choices for two play styles

I really Mega Evolution gets added into SW/SH in an update at some point. (Also, it’d be insane to see a dynamaxed Mega Evolution, but they’d probably ban that.)

I have actually spent a lot of time remaking and adding mega evolutions to my own head cannon. I feel that’s some were poorly executed and others deserved them but never got them. I feel like they commonly become a discussion is more spikes is all you need for a good mega evolution but I personally think they should bring about the meta aspect of the pokemon. For that reason I refer to my own design as mega evolution.
