Unfortunately for the past couple of days Camila has been unwell with a stomach bug. She still wasn't up for doing anything yet so Mallory and myself went for a drive on the saleng around the local villages and fields to see what everybody is up to.

The video clip of your uncle working in the “sea” of green rice fields and the sounds of nature in the quiet countryside demonstrates the positive side of being your own boss as a small rice farmer in rural Thailand verses a more hectic life working in the concrete jungle of Bangkok. True, you live a simpler life in the countryside but your financial needs ( burdens?) are not as much as in the city. ( Depending on the individual of course)

There seems to be some sort of bug going around at the moment. I had some kind of stomach virus 2 weeks ago. Definitely not food poisoning, but my entire intestines were churning and gurgling. Never had anything like it before! I drank lots of water, took re-hydration salts and ate lots of soup! Completely recovered now!

Yeah definitely seems to have been a bug as the girls came down with it too 😩 We're all on the mend now though! Sorry to hear you experienced it too 🙏

When I used to live in Brasil, my grandfather had 2 mango trees. One of the mango we called it manga espada (ofc not the official name though) which translates to sword mango and looked exactly like those mangos you have there. I used to eat them green and/or semi ripe with a salt and black pepper mix. My great grandma though had the absolutely best mango ever. Thank you once again for another great video.

Glad to see all's good there. Lovely for me to be able to walk with you and feel at home again. When I first arrived in Thailand it was 78 Baht to a pound. It's only 46 now. I saw that it's the season for dangerous reptiles so be aware mate.

Funny you should say that about Camila, because I've had a tummy bug for the last few days as well. I tend to get one 2-3 times a year, usually after a big party, where food and alcohol has been flowing freely, but none of the Thai's get it, so I can only assume its because "us farrang" don't have an immunity to something that everyone in this part of the world does. Next time you pass a pharmacy, get a couple of strips of Norfloxacin 400mg, 1 tablet 2 times per day, for 3-5 days, the second strip is to put in your emergency kit for the next time it happens. It'll be a life saver for Camila. Remember happy wife, happy life.........🤣

The mangoes in Southern California sucks compared to the ones in Thailand! Ours mostly comes from Mexico because the climate is similar to Southeast Asia towards southern Mexico. 🇲🇽

On the subject of ripe fruit has any one seen a ripe farang ( the fruit) in Thailand. I didn't think they would but we have them growing at home in Australia and they are nice and juicy, just like a ripe mango. Also we did have an apricot tree. I was lucky to get any ripe fruit. They would eat them green with fish sauce.

Hi Nat. Kaya seems disappointed the taste ripe mango.when picked up the ripe mango from the mango tree should be keeping for2-3day before having,the taste it's better and get well soon for Camilla.take care ❤❤❤

❤🙏🏻Beautiful countryside. Hope Camilla has speedy recovery. I have tablets you dissolve on tong & you get back to normal within hours. Must have at chemist there. Wow Mango was so tasty in Thailand. Yummy! 💞💞💞💞

Hi Nate. How’s it going. I was wondering and I’m sure I’m not the only one: how much rice comes from one plant? What part of the plant does it come from? This probably sounds like a ridiculous question to you but I’m sure a lot of people don’t know. I raised my hand as the first. I think it would be interesting information for a video. Keep up the good work. The family aspect of your life are the most interesting (to me) videos.

I'll try and have a conversation with one of these farmers and ask them some questions as I don't know much about the growing of it myself to be honest. But I do know that you don't get much from a single plant and it's hard work!
