The rings are thick to prevent the marbles from accidentally rolling off outside with a violent table bump. Although I think I'd still prefer if they were actual bowl shapes or something as secure. This is the game that I absolutely love playing at BoardGameArena, but have always been afraid to get my own physical copy because I'm worried of chasing marbles under the table when accidents like the one above happen. Looking at this unboxing, I am strongly considering it now. Thank you.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the thickness of the cardboard rings holding the marbles on the table, is exceptional, and, barring an earthquake, the rings will prevent the marbles from rolling away. Keep in mind this is the Second Edition printing of Gizmos, so make sure you get this edition. I am glad it helped you consider this game, as this is part of my intention in showing the components. So that people can make a better informed decision as to whether or not this might be a game for them to consider getting based on component quality, or other factors. Thanks for your feedback. Have fun playing. :)

Interestingly, when you displayed the level 3, I could see 3 types from version 1 not in version 2. They are the 3 I could never work out and that were not explained in the instructions. 1 had a blank square box symbol and 2 use an = symbol inside a box or circle. I don't mean the equals in red or outside a box but the equals that is part of the symbol. I think they aren't in this version as too many people ignored them not knowing the criteria needed to use them.

Why not assemble it?

I know it would only take a short while - however didn't feel at that point in time assembly was part of an unboxing video, and was conscious of keeping the video as short as possible. ;)

@@startboardgames4662 That was pretty bold to slice through the cards with a knife. Good thing it didn't scrape the backs or dent the edges. 😂

@@darbyl3872 I do it reasonably carefully. I used to use a different knife, which was sharp, but not as sharp as the current new one I use. I have found that with this newer sharper knife, it does get stuck on the thin edge of the cards a little more. So would recommend a sharp knife - but not too sharp. LOL - If that makes sense. My fingernails are not great for getting the ends of plastic, and I use a knife to save a little time in the videos.

@@startboardgames4662 I have a swiss army knife with tiny scissors I slide along the edge. I'm picky about damaged games. I also have different color markers for touching up card backs, if I haven't already sleeved them.
