Wow she was way ahead of her time. This was only 2000 and she's talking about gay marriage and adoption as if it were today. What a wonderful woman she was.

Her and Jane Fonda were out there in the 60s and 70s talking to the media about gay rights. Look up some of their interviews. They were WAY ahead of their time. Queens.

She co-created amFar in 1985. Her activism helped saved millions of lives . Obviously not alone, but it was her star status that got Ronald Reagan to officially talk about aids when no one else could. Of course it was only one time in his whole presidency and what he said was horrible but at least it passed his lips once in a public speech. This woman was/is a Saint in my opinion.

Absolutely true about Joan and Haines. She's the primary reason his career as an interior designer was so successful, as she promoted his work within her well-to-do circles. Crawford also paid for a hospital room (and later on, two), for members of the film community (grips, cameramen, wardrobe) who couldn't afford to pay for health care, and she did it anonymously. It wasn't till after her death that George Cukor revealed this little-known fact.

That was one of the best speeches I have ever heard in my life from anybody. Honest, logic, strong. And most of the time she spoke about others, like if the award was for them and that is how she really meant it. She was beautiful, intelligent and with heart on the right place. A unique combination. People like her do not have easy lives. But maybe that is thing that polishes people´s character. The real Dame.

Elizabeth Taylor was also questioned about Dean’s sexuality in a 1997 interview with POZ Magazine. This is what she said: KEVIN SESSUMS: James Dean? ELIZABETH TAYLOR: I loved Jimmy, too. We used to sit up and talk and talk. KEVIN SESSUMS: There's been this postmortem debate about whether he was gay or not. What do you think? ELIZABETH TAYLOR: He hadn't made up his mind. He was only 24 when he died. But he was certainly fascinated by women. He flirted around. He and I … twinkled. KEVIN SESSUMS: Better be careful-sounds like water sports. ELIZABETH TAYLOR: Oh God! We had a … well … a … little twinkle for each other.

@@sparklingwaterfalls If we want to be completely honest, Elizabeth did, in fact, give the impression she and James Dean were "dating," and we know what that means. She knew it would be good for his career and help tamp down rumors that had begun already about his homosexuality. On one side, that's a good friend. On the other hand, historically, she was on the wrong side of the issue doing that. Saying full-out that he was gay, decades after his death, is not exactly courageous.
