Its because Hollywood is so creativity bankrupt they can no longer create new ideas & instead fall back on a tried & tested formula. $330 million budget it obscene for any movie. You guys are awesome 👍

it feels like someone wrote a script that floated around studios a bit then someone went "this feels very 'Gladiator'! what if we changed this character and this bit here and called it Gladiator 2?" hoping that the sequel to a beloved and respected movie might boost box office by 25-30%.

Roman historian here. Yes they had full on naval battles in the arena involving hundreds of participants reenacting battles from history. Did have rhinos too, although they were quite rare compared to other creatures because we get a famous rhino in the 1st century AD who appears on coinage and pops up in several games - they weren't willing to risk him to death. They also used to reenact the habitat of creatures for the beast hunt, eg a swamp full of crocodiles. However lots from the trailer is making ancient historians grimace in its inaccuracy.

Yeah the trailer reminds me of the trailers of b movies on a DVD, especially if the movie is some type of sequel. The flashbacks to scenes from the original movie, also has a bit of fan made trailer vibes with Denzel being there.

I am going to first watch it before i judge it. If this movie was a mere cash grab it would had been made in the 2000s. So wait and see before judging it.

I have yet to watch the trailer and probably never will. And I'll certainly not be watching this crap. I don't care who's in the movie. This is not necessary. Gladiator, the one about Romans not the boxing movie, is an iconic movie. It doesn't need a sequel.

Except for the song, I found the trailer pretty good, especially the naval battle and the rhino parts. I was expecting a shaved head woman beating up 10 guys at the same time, something woke that would make me angry, but that's not what I saw.
