You know...it's so sad Gladys hasn't got so much funky uptempo/midtempo hits in the past...I guess she didn't push it either after knowing in the 60's by Mr. Berry Gordy (then Motown boss), in order to favor his then lover Diana Ross, her voice was "heavier" and it would not thrive in a more Pop arena...this can kill any artist dreams alone...Gladys should've not believed and kept on going...it feels so good to listen to her voice in a funky uptempo beat!...

This song is fascinating when you really put your ear to it. The rhythm carries the melody throughout the entire song. Yet it's never repetitive or overbearing. There's a lot going on within the instrumentation as well as the vocal performances of Gladys and the Pips et al -in every section of the song. No part is exactly the same. Everything in this song just seems to totally click. Great composition and recording. It's a masterpiece of our BLACK culture.
