Glasgow Irvine Loop

This is a cycle that I did in September. In this video I visit a couple of bike shops to get replacement cleats for my shoes as the ones that I bought before where the wrong size. This was frustrating as it delayed my journey by about 45 mins and forced me to cycle more in traffic than what I wanted to that day. one I got my shoes sorted and was able to clip onto the pedals I headed to paisley and onto the cycle path there that takes you to Irvine. This NCN route is very scenic and passes by loch.

At 26.40 when you have to go on the pavement to cross, that’s a Spanish idea that all traffic do, brilliant idea, on a main road you need to turn off the road and loop to a T junction, look left and right then cross instead of just stopping to hold up traffic until the road is clear. Safer as well.

I totally get it now. Think I was annoyed with myself at the time as I could have crossed the road a few hundred metres back to join the pavement and ovoid using the painted cycle lane.

When you buy pedals cleats are included. Look pedals use Look cleats. Shimano pedals use shimano cleats! How did you end up with shimano cleats if you have Look pedals. Maybe visiting places like Evans is the issue. Glasgow is blessed with many real cycling shops! Dales, bilslands etc maybe try using these places for the right advice

That Auchengree road isn't any easier when you've just set out (I live locally) but the hardest is the bit just before Kilwinning where it's very steep and on a tight bend. Was great to see the cycle track that I sometimes commute to Glasgow on. Especially the drone shots. Thanks for taking the trouble to upload this.

Great video loved the drone what software are you using for it to track at that height , I’ve got a DJI air 2 and it would lose the tracking at that height

I’ve got a mini 2 and they don’t track. I’m controlling the drone as I cycle and if I do a quick shot I fix on a solid object and cycle through the shot.

I’m moving back to Glasgow after over 40 years away and was planning on visiting family in Troon regularly, I’d like to know if the dual carriage ways can be avoided around 2.5 half mins in the video, I’m not a fan of ‘A’ roads. Coming from Devon where there are loads of country lanes so I know I have a few more miles to do before I get to country. But cycle route 7 seems quite a good option. Anything I should look out for or avoid, probably moving to pollokshields area.

Should be fine staying on route 7 from the Pollockshaws area although I don’t know what it’s like from Irvine to Troon.
