you're fast. i've been doing that since 2007. nothing about my internet-self is entirely true and IF anybody thinks they know me, they'll never know my real name. real friends know my real details about all my life stuff. internet people only know exaggerations and a clearly fake name i use everywhere, so IF i'm found, the likelihood of them learning anything real about me is slim to nil without raising suspicions among those around me. i have been approached in the street with my fake name, and i've immediately warned that person, if you're using a name off the internet and want to talk to me, you're mistaken. i'm an online personality, not someone who wants to be near you. you're not the sole person i want to gain the attention of. you're the person who's proving why i have no identifiable information online. so much so, i often get fired or told i can't be hired, because there's no details about me online. and the last thing i did online as myself was on myspace/facebook and when they find a 15 year old angsty teenager who stopped posting before 2010 entirely, they can't track and follow me. they want me to give up my everything just for measly pennies to earn. i might die obscure, but goddamnit, at least i'm going to die as a real human, not this brainwashed idiotic hybrid of computer and slave. try this experiment. go look for a job, even if it's a goof, and deliberately, beforehand, remove every piece of your online life and have zero anything for them to research you with, no phone numbers or records, no internet access. just say you want to work and that's it.. you will not be hired. you will be ignored. you will be entirely treated as shit. same applies to these "loyalty" cards when in fact it's legalised extortion. like someone wrote in the comments here earlier.... proactive protection of your privacy, not reactive protections. --- kind of like leaving your front door wide open and then, when burglers arrive, you spend some time buying a gun for safety, then you go to the range, then you get your licence, then you go home and realise, you'd like more ammo for your new home defence tool..... but dumbass, you can't do this AFTER you've been compromised. and if you're seeing this now and realising you SHOULD do something, it's already too late because Past You is dumb and now you're trapped. the best you can do is start now and hope it's enough to save Future You. all the people who never took digital protections for privacy in a serious tone, all of you deserve to be scammed and fucked over. i might be impossible to hire, but a cursery search of the Real Me, would show you a prestine clean untouched un-tarnished arrest record. no warnings, no cautions, no detainments, nothing. but without that internet shit, nobody wants to hire me or anybody like me who's free from every form of manipulation online. what's the name of your next door neighbour? where do they work? what do they enjoy doing? what about the rest of your neighbourhood? the problem starts when you're told you're alone and online is your refuge.... nobody online, ever, is more important than your physical location in space and time. someone online is lonely and wants to talk? tough shit, your neigbours and REAL FRIENDS could do with that attention and care. but no, that's too hard. or so you've been led to believe. seriously. quit the internet. it's dead anyway. more than 50% is just online bot traffic waiting to steal the details of the human 50%. and you're the target. so am i but we've established, i'm aloof and invisible, the internet has no clue what i look like even when i tell it. but, if you put in my fake name (not swanclipper, this is a sock for my fake account) it will bring up art, music, poetry, events, appearances.... but if you wanted to know about Alan Smithy, it'd have nothing to show. because that isn't a real name and it's a common psuedonym for directors who effectively denounce/reject a movie they're responsible for. Alan Smithy is a shit director.... sometimes... he's hit a few nails very well. one person found the real me a long time ago, but that wasn't image search that was brute force detail scraping back in like 2015.

Number two is really the huge problem: 99% of people have no idea that this kind of thing can be done at all, much less that it could be done right now and instantly. "Oh, I don't care what they know about me! I'm not doing anything BAD!" Right along with this kind of thing is the collection of vast quantities of information about everyone with a 'smart' phone. People clearly have no idea how that information can be used to manipulate their behaviour. When you know that much about someone you can choose to send information to them that can subtly change their thinking. No one is immune. Fools think they are immune.
@AlcorSalvador27 күн бұрын
What is even worse is that these companies are colluding with each other. IE if you request a removal, they will take just long enough for another company to buy the info and clone the data before they 'delete' it, ensuring that they can buy your data back later from another company down the line.
@WBradleyRobbins27 күн бұрын

Yep. We’re already experiencing a massive and global privacy invasion with the biggest corporations investing billions of dollars into tracking as much about a person as possible, aggregating all that data, generating ID-tags to separate the data by individuals, then selling all that data to every other corporation that drools over such data. It’s literally a competition of “who can collect the most complete and most accurate data set first?”. **This just puts the icing on this privacy-invading cake!!** It’s complete at this point, this is the end-game of privacy invasion, the literal ability to take a photo of someone (or, in this case, using glasses to snapshot someone’s face, which is even worse) and collecting all the identifying information about that person is now possible. Heck, I am certain that you could use publicly available webcamera streams to achieve this!

Catch-22: How do they know it's you? Without KNOWING it's you?
@thethan326 күн бұрын
The problem is that there is no way to actually remove yourself once the data is out there. Nearly every company pulls in data from a variety of sources, they may even share bulk data back and forth with other companies. You may remove yourself from it at one point, but in the next data ingest you are immediately back in from the same data sources which you have no control over. They may block it on a public interface, but there will always be paid services that have access and you do not control the data sources. Once this has been used broadly enough, what this will do is breakdown communication at a societal level. If you've ever been in IT and had to deal with someone where communication isn't possible, they are crazed. It happens biologically, and this will drive psychotic and crazed behavior by isolating people. Take a look at the psychology research surrounding isolation and deprivation tanks. People go crazy when they can't be social, and this largely happens underneath perception without them realizing it.
