Training: Long Crack Repair

As an old-school GlasWeld customer and technician, I like to cure the ends of the crack under pressure to prevent the drill holes from showing those dark spots so that the repair can look more cleaner and appealing to my customers. This is how I was taught and will continue to use it. Thanks for the tips and tricks and when to use those resins.

I tried to do one today first time ever,I had the right idea but not the correct technique I made many holes alone the crack line,couldn't keep my injector on cause of the holes

Long crack repair is an advanced technique that definitely takes some practice before taking them on for customers. We recommend practicing along with the techniques in this video and with repetition you should see improvement over time so keep at it!

I bet it has something to do with the integrity of the windshield. After a certain point, and I'm sure the Glasweld boys would agree, the windshield integrity is compromised no matter who sort of amount of repairs you do. I'm a novice repairman but from past experience as a Firefighter, I can think of many times where objects easy penetrated a windshield and other incidents where objects did not penetrate a windshield (objects that you would bet that would penetrate the windshield). Windscreen tech is certainly a special science and has everything to do with the actual glass manufacturing process and quality control. I would say that all repairs do not degrade integrity of the windshield and only increase it (versus not repairing the chip or crack). Long crack repairs are for aesthetics but do add some sort of integrity back but nothing close to the integrity of a new windshield. Just my opinion.
