This scene is powerful. Something I didn't notice before was the subtle nuance of how only her long time friends saw how the performance was affecting her and knew something was wrong well before she broke down. You can see it first in 1:17, you can see it in Tina's face where she looks concerned. Then of course Mr Schue who can see what's coming, then Mike. This scene breaks my heart every time because it's as real as you can get.

It's just awful to watch, I was just listening to the podcast and they were talking about that and how they wouldn't do this episode again, if they could. The pain was too raw, everyone agreed, including Ryan Murphy. Lea Michele apparently had no problems with doing it, and Ryan took her opinion the most seriously because they were dating... Naya mentions in her book how she tried to hold it together in this episode, but couldn't do it.

I can't listen to this song without balling my eyes out. This breaks my heart. Just listen to the words and it hits far too close to home with what happened to Naya. After Cory died and Naya had to perform this song, Naya says in her book that she got so upset performing that Will and Mike (the actors who played those characters) were genuinely worried about her, it wasn't scripted for them to go up to her like that.
