Hi everyone, We’re aware of the devastating fires currently affecting certain areas, and we strongly advise against traveling to these regions during this time. Please stay informed and check online resources for the latest updates before making any travel plans. We’d also like to clarify that this video was filmed prior to the fires, so there’s no need for concern. Stay safe, and our thoughts are with everyone impacted by these events ❤

I'm supposed to be going up near the Grampians to go camping in the new year, but I'm not sure we will be as it could be burning for weeks! We seem to get fires almost every year now. Great idea that you put a warning in here right now 👍 The weather on boxing day is just going to make it worse. You guys really are a joy to watch. Hope you are having fun up in Queensland 😃

@stopbunsen CATASTROPHIC!! I live at about 10 kilometres east of the Grampians fire burning to Halls Gap 🔥. 8:00 pm 21/12/2024. It's CATASTROPHIC!!. PS. 22/12/2024 Air filled with smoke nearly 400 square kilometres burnt 25/26 December to extreme weather conditions days. So it's going to get worse!!

If you are feeling unwell in the heat it is probably because you are not drinking enough. You have to learn to drink much more water than you are used to, that you were not sweating that much, a pretty solid indication you were not drinking enough.

Halls gap is currently under evacuation due to bushfires. I’m glad you got to enjoy it before then. I see that a few people have suggested that you Visit Wilson’s Promontory and I absolutely agree. As a Victorian, it’s my favourite place. I would recommend doing the day trek to Sealers Cove and back. If you’re interested in doing a longer trek you need to take everything with you including water purification equipment. The beaches are absolutely pristine.

Glen you walked past big sun hats in the general store at Halls Gap where you bought the candle. You want a big wide straw one to shade your neck and shoulders. You can get them cheap at any Bunnings store you see. A baseball cap really isn’t big enough as the back of your neck is exposed. The Australian sun is fierce, and you will get even more burnt in overcast weather or when swimming as the sun reflects off the water onto your body.

You also need a wide brim hat, cotton clothing and try and hike in early morning or late afternoon avoiding the hottest part of the midday sun 🌞 Don't ignore hot red face 🥵 sit in shade, wet cloth and put around neck, drink heaps of water.

As you head west, ensure you hydrate often and find a hat for sure. A good sunscreen is also a must. Just remember, South Australia is the driest region in the world, Burke & Wills found that out the hard way. I lived for 30 years around the Simpson Desert, just need to be careful, heat can sneak up on you so, so quick

Most of Country Victoria is absolutely boiling in the Summer time, as most of it is land-locked, without any ocean breeze...To avoid heat exhaustion/heat-stroke, best to stay indoors if you can during the day time in Summer, especially in 30 plus degrees Celsius. If out, make sure to wear a broad rimmed hat, long sleeved shirt and shorts and plenty of sunscreen. And also bring a bottle of water with you.

As you head further into Summer you need to be prepared for extreme heat. Keep lots of water in your car at all times and take some with you whenever you walk. You need to invest in good hats, but I would also look at no fly hat (I know they look silly) but into the dryer heat where you are heading, they will save your sanity. Please make sure you are using only Australian manufactured Sunscreen (it is manufactured to suit Australian conditions which are different than anywhere else in the world).

The videos lag behind. They are in another country now, so they informed me.

You are so lucky to get to see the grampians. I realise this is delayed from when you went. The Grampians are currently on fire :(

Poor Mado, I 100% sympathise with her in the heat, I moved here in 2006 and those hotter days just kill me.

okay, I see the cheer squad has covered the hat and clothing and water issues. good. listen to them, its for real. What else is going to be really, real is Christmas, if you are travelling through the expected heat wave around Christmas and Boxing day, well its almost essential you guys get inside somewhere. Your little car just isnt enough for the 41c we are expecting, even with aircon, you will cook. Rent a cheap cabin, or better still, get in a caravan park with swimming pools. and of course, Merry Christmas to you.

Yeah Glen & Mado. Do not light any fire for any reason while travelling through the country over Summer.. There are Total Bans in most parts on any “naked flame”.., and that includes Citronella candles. Use a personal insect repellent spray & long sleeved shirt/light loose pants for those late afternoon /evening mossie visitors. If you have phone reception check Dept of Emergency Services each morning for any Alerts/Fire Bans etc. Keep safe on The Road.

Haven't been to Halls Gap since grade 5 school camp in 1982. Is the nerve test and jaws of death still a thing?
