The confidence of the captain on Glenn McGrath is visible from the fact that there is neither a mid on or short mid on or even a short mid wicket as the captain knows that McGrath is only gonna bowl outside off stump or at Max middle stump that too not in the half volley or slot region.

Steyn was better than McGrath. Glenn didn't have to bowl to the strongest team of his time ie his own Aussies. Ponting murdered him in Shild cricket on numerous ocassions. Steyn was faster, more talented, swung it later and had a better strike rate... McGrath also had the luxury of Warne tying an end up and striking as well as scoreboard pressure and crowd support.
