Fun fact: the reason GRRM is taking so long to finish TWOW is that Glidus and Schwift produce so much high-quality long-form content, and George obsessively watches every video multiple times, leaving him no time for writing.

14:55 I think it's really funny that "whiskerfish" is used as an example of making an ordinary animal sound more like a fantasy animal, when the original name is literally CAT-fish. 😂 Like, compared with lizard-lions a whiskerfish should be less fantasy appropriate, but we're just all so used to the name catfish that it's somehow more normal having a fish be a cat than having a fish with whiskers.

What would be more interesting than just listing all the food rankings in order, is to graph them all *by book* - conparing how many A's, B's, etc. each book has in total, on one graph. Then you will probably see the trajectory of the plot through the lense of food: Summer plenty gradually deteriorating into dire straits

Such a great stream! Can’t wait for the GLIDUS produced and mixed, Schwift vocals Wildfire song, the adlib was beautiful. Also cordage is string! Most commonly used historically in ship rigging (very thick strong versions of it) but it’s the oldest form of recorded string, impressions of cordage have been found on clay pots and such that have been dug up dating over 28,000 years old. It’s made of lengths of fibres twisted together in usually two parts. Rope is then traditionally made with cordage braided or twisted together to make a stronger final product. Floor time supremacy

May I suggest an idea for a stream? "Player of the Game of Thrones" tier list. I'll explain. Basically a tier list where you put the main characters (POV and others) on a list where the question is "how well do these characters play the Game of Thrones"? Pawn, Mastermind, accomplice, authority and all the tiers you can think of. If either Glidus, Alt Shift X or Alt Schwift or a combination of the three want to do a stream around this idea they have my full permission.

Yeah Viserys should've definitely installed Rhaenyra as his Princess Regent and had the lords of Westeros reavow their fealty to her at the ceremony if he wanted to be sure that she was going to take the throne after him, instead he waffled so much that even after Rhaenyra was fighting her usurper of a brother, she almost believed Alicent when it was stated he changed his mind on his death bed. Breaking tradition can be done, but it has to be very sure of itself to move forward.

You could maybe argue that the peppers are black pepper and long peppers, but there's an Arya chapter with sweetcorn (Arya eats some off the cob when travelling with Yoren), there are turkeys (Theon spies a turkey and Bran ends up alone), several occurrences of pumpkin, squash, etc. The reason there aren't potatoes and tomatoes in the books is George *originally* didn't want to include new world foods, but he made a few mistakes and basically gave up on that idea. But adding tomatoes or potatoes in later as a regional food wouldn't make much sense given how they can be cultivated basically anywhere, and are very useful crops which ought to be widespread, if available.

On the topic of North/South American crops not appearing in the series, potatoes at least are mentioned in the show. I’m not around my books to check if they are also mentioned there (though I’m guessing not), however, in Season 2 when Tyrion, Varys, and Bronn are planning the defense of King’s Landing for the upcoming Battle of the Blackwater, Bronn says something to the effect of “Noble ladies sell their diamonds for a sack of potatoes” when discussing the risk thieves pose in the food crisis a siege can cause.

I went down a real rabbithole when I first read the passage about Wun Wun being a vegetarian and eating carts of onions and beets. Basically I was trying to figure out what the giants eat when they dont have people supplying carts of crops they grew. I have come to the conclusion it may be that since giants are trapped north of the wall thats why they are so few in number. But with that being said theres a surprising amount of stuff they probably get down on and that includes just bales of hay, most parts of conifer trees are edible, seaweed, then obviously anything humans can grow or forage. But I genuinely think the giants must be out in fields ripping up patches of grass. If they do have agriculture (or some form of it, like not depleting an area to come back later) they might be able to have stuff like barley growing in cold resistant climates. also maybe they just think horse meat is nasty, though I would assume their main meat would be Elk
