I’m so glad you did this “how much” with gel polish! 💕A question I have about charging for gel polish is how much do you charge if a client wants to remove their gel polish? And do you charge the same amount to remove and add another colour? For example, Gel polish $50 Removal $20 Would removal + new colour be $70 or do you charge $50 because they are a returning client?

TheNewfieGirl82 yeah idk everyone charges different gel where i live is 35 plus glitter 5 or 10 so about 40-45 dollars they would charge the 50 plus the take off fee if its gel on the actual nail if it’s acrylic they don’t soak it off they don’t charge but that’s how the shops around here do it everyone is different

Usually the removal is included in our price as long as we are working on our own work.

Evangeline’s Bakery Right?! Because if someone wanted their set removed (properly, not picked off or damaged) you would have to charge at least for your time (acetone, files). But you’d also remove the old design to do a new design. If they were looking for a cheap way out they would pick it off??

TheNewfieGirl82 cheap way out of getting rid of gel in my opinion is filing it off if you can’t pick the gel off it’s hella old on your nails or the polish it’s self had to be old in my opinion or it wasn’t put on right. The shops out here if it’s on acrylic they are not soaking anything they just file it off and that’s that if it’s your real nail they will charge for the soak off

That price may fly in a large city or suburban area, but in smaller communities I bet nail techs would have no customers if they charged that. You can only charge what the market will bear.

Just pushing back and prep because cutting can open up the skin causing possible irritation. Basic gel polish mani starting out could go for like $30

protein bond is a non acid based primer so it helps all product adhere withhout compromising or discoloring the product

SO DO I! NO one in my area would pay this. I wish they would!!!!! I think these prices are indicative of what we are truly paying for supplies and labour! My advice to start with somewhat high prices so it's easy to raise prices in the future. Certain prices will definitely rid you of certain clientele, which may not be a bad thing. So many variables.

Idk I feel if the shops in your plaza are charging less and you guys are doing the same work, as a customer I would probably go with the lesser shop. BUT, speaking from a customers perspective if I feel comfortable , like you actually value me as a customer and not my money ( most of the chop shops aren’t like that and they just want your money and treat you any kind of way) then I most certainly would go to your shop over theirs. Idk I think customer wise it comes down to how your treat your customers and the relationship your form with them

The shops around me where i live i just stopped getting the whole polish i went got my own lamp and gel polish i just pay for the full set or a fill and do my own nails cause of the poor customer service

YoungNailsInc I see, so you’re telling me that I’m not cut out for this business even though I’ve been making a living at it for over 20 years? You know, when I started in this business people were loyal and I was able to build my business by say doing one person in an office and I’d usually get at least two to three others from that service. Once the housing market collapsed everyone was shell shocked and people were getting Let go from their jobs and moving to Texas. It was bad. Now everyone is looking for the nearest and the cheapest. I have had people who have come to me to fix terribly shoddy done by friends or by chop shops because they are looking for that deal. Groupon is another thing that’s hurting the business, you can create a deal with Groupon, and that will definitely get people in your chair, but even if you treat them like royalty it does not guarantee loyalty because they don’t want to pay the regular price the next time if they can find another deal somewhere else; and the fact that the shoddy work was acceptable in the first place because they were getting that deal speaks volumes too. There are so many variables that factor into your business. I constantly post and advertise on social media, I use my square app to generate campaigns to bring in new business and promote gift card sales. I’ve come in on my days off just to accommodate and make sure I retain clients. So don’t tell me I’m not cut out for this business. You think that presented with a choice between going to a salon with numerous employees, who can get you in immediately and do an acceptable job or having to wait or make an appointment at a salon like mine where it’s just me, and I’m going to put my heart and soul into my work and follow up to make sure you come back, that the customer isn’t going to choose the immediate gratification? Granted some won’t, some will want the better work and the more personal service, and when that happens I’m grateful, but 9 times out of ten that’s not how it works. So I’m sorry, but to say I’d be able to charge $60 for that when the chop shop is charging half of that amount is unreasonable unrealistic and a raving generalization. I love this company, all my acrylic and most of my hard gel is all YN. I was even thinking about getting rid of all my other gel polish brands and going 100% YN, but it says something to me that I have to go to several different distributors just to get what I need because each of them only carry bits and pieces of your line. So don’t tell me that anybody should be charging as much as as you suggest in your how much videos, and especially don’t refer me to a video that tells me I’m not cut out for the business.
