Glitter in Rare beauty highlighter? I

So I did try this in more lighting to show you. It KZbin only allows 1 min shorts so I had to get the good info in! The glitter really only shows up in very particular light.

Honestly those video shots are the ones I want to see in reviews more because it’s more informative on how it will look in real life versus studio lighting. You have no idea how helpful this was. I was so tempted to try but I can’t stand glittery highlighters. I’ll just stick with my Nars and discontinued Becca and Natasha Denona highlighters. Le sigh.

@@ArtzieGrah I haven’t because I’m too fair for those shades. I wear shade Pearl and MAYBE moonstone. I miss their liquid illuminator in pearl so much. It was the perfect highlighter. I had one that I was keeping to compare to other liquid highlighter formulas to try and find an exact dupe. But the formula was so unstable, the bottle exploded. Just from sitting still in a drawer. That’s why the Rare one was appealing because Enlighten is light enough for me. But their liquid looks glittery to me.

New Charlotte Tilbury highlighter looks good! Also Mario's to me feels pretty close to Becca formula. And both have light shades

@@alexandrrra5627 really?!? I may have to check out the Charlotte one. It’s been tempting me. I’m pretty sure the Makeup by Mario highlighters are beautiful but the lightest shade is apparently different than the rest of the range. I’ve heard it’s more “glittery” If this helps anyone, my top three powder highlighters are: 1. Nars Capri 2. Becca Pearl 3. Natasha Denona Super Glow in #1 Fair Currently the ones tempting me are the CT one in Moonlit Glow and the Bobbi Brown highlighter in Quartz Glow. I’m trying to find a highlighter that isn’t stark white like pearl, but also isn’t too deep for me. It’s been tough.

This made me smile. You once reviewed Keys Soulcare illuminating priming serum (my favorite for a 'no makeup makeup' look) and you said it was too glittery. My reaction was "What? There is no glitter! Just a glow." Now I need to look at it in different light. It works perfectly for my Zoom calls. I guess I won't try to fix what ain't broke!

Very helpful!! I hate doing my makeup in bright light, but I've started checking it afterwards that way. I have a new job with normal office lights, so I have to do my makeup differently than when I work in a gorgeously lit museum...I saw myself in the new office bathroom & I had the go-go glitter look, instead of the subtle glowy look I intended haha! I gotta tone it down anyway, I am in outdoor rec, those folks don't trust glitter lol.

I remember years ago on KZbin a bunch of KZbinrs did this thing called the ‘Oreo lick race,’ an obviously sponsored ad, but it was not disclosed as an ad to their young audience. I was around 15 at that time, looked up to these people and ended up buying Oreos because I’d seen these. I want to go look at it in person. I haven’t had a chance to go to Sephora yet but all the swatches I e seen from different people look different. Some look darker (using the same color highlighter) and some look glittery while some look metallic. That’s why watching people do swatches on KZbin is so hard.

This is why I personally don’t use highlighter PERIOD!!! If my client wants it, that’s fine. But for me, it’s a no. There’s glitter in EVERY highlighter. And it WILL pick up, in some lighting more than others.

For anyone interested, if you need ro see if somethinf had glitter/shimmer in it, you can film it with your camera flash on, and if you unfocus the camera it will show even stronger 😊
